Steel is real! I live in Phoenix and wood dries, shrinks and moves big time. Bolt-together wood furniture always needs tightened up when brought from non-desert environments. Not to mention termites don’t eat steel. But i think with steel you really want spray-foam insulation.

@@susanbeals7597: @5:28, it looks as if the company is going in a different direction. Spray foam is not really a thing over here and has attracted some bad press because of poor application by people who basically don't understand the product and how it should work.

The Pod Factory. Very memorable name. Big win.🏆
I’m definitely a steel frame kinda guy. Living in a northeast big city, I’m just used to everything being steel framed. Even the hotdog stand on my corner looks steel framed. 🌭
I have to admit, the layouts on their two biggest models are great. And the kitchen cabinets are nice. I’m impressed by their interiors.👍
Great video Kerry. Love that this late in the year, a company, never before featured on the channel, is being showcased. 🙌😎

Kerry, this is a great video! I liked the 2bd 1 bth home. I would greatly consider placing an island with stools in front of the kitchen and getting rid of the dining table. The black metal with wood exterior is so attractive and elegant looking. It's always awesome watching your videos!

The one piece of information I need to pique my interest is always the width. This is because I have a small lot with a 1,122' house on it, and the ADU I'm looking to put on it needs to fit behind the house between the back wall and the back property line with setbacks taken into account. With setbacks, it can be no wider than 12', but if I attach it to the house, I gain some more room for amenities like passage between side yards, sunlight, and wheelbarrow transit, because the setback required between house and another building is removed if attached. The steel frame is interesting because I would love to put it on piers instead of tearing up my yard for footings. Now that I've commented, I'll have to see the remainder of the video to see if they ship to California. It looks like they have the shoebox shape that I've been looking for.

Twenty years ago my wife found nine acres really close to where I worked. She picked out a Victorian-looking home from a plan magazine. We priced that with both steel and wood framing. The steel framed building took a month longer and was a bit over 30% more expensive. It still required a full slab. We went with wood and lived there for a bit over twelve years.

Hello Kerry!! Love steel frame prefab homes. So just a thought as you did say they can be customized. Pocket doors add to useable space in each bathroom and bedroom. Also, a lot of wasted space in the bathroom. Again, with a pocket door you could have a half bath and a full bath with a shower, which is needed with 4-6 people living in the house. Happy Holidays to all!! Thank you Kerry for your videos, great way to enjoy my morning coffee.

You are so funny 😂 in your comments and I'm also looking to but a tiny type home. These are truly so much better than the wood frame built homes. I like the steel- framed idea which is termite proof, as well as settling like wood does, also no mold, etc.

Hello again Kerry, most of your followers prefer steel or aluminum framing for obvious reasons, terminates don’t eat metal, more precise cuts, less waste over all stronger and more durable. Lastly the perfect prefabricated affordable modular home would combine metal frames with wood finishes for walls some exterior decoration and interior decoration as well. But the supports should always be metal because of cost! Your reviews on all wood prefabricated modular homes made from wood cost a lot more especially if it’s a very strong wood or rare wood, engineered compressed and treated wood, the price goes up and not down 😮😮😮!

Personally I prefer steel framed construction because there's less of a degradation and creature side of it. I do, however, want to have my unit attached to my foundation with anchors and fresh concrete. I am also, actually, looking for round, or roundish, layouts. Oh, and I'm in a wheelchair so no weaving around walls would be nice. I'm definitely thinking I'll need something custom! So I'll also need something small so I can afford the custom parts.

People should start caring about the building materials used. (if they can consider the option) Steel framing checks more boxes towards sustainability, it never contributes as a fuel source for fire, can not be degraded by pest and termites, and will never mold or rust (if you used galvanized). In terms of sustainability, steel is recycled more than wood, paper, plastic and aluminum combined. How fast can you plant a forest and replace the wood you took out of our earth?
