  • Here we show you how to instal a trench drain using a new and better method than I have done in the past. We basically set the drain in a bed of mortar so we can get it perfectly level and at the proper height using the laser. These drains work excellent for pole barns and garages we do not use the small round drains anymore because they just don't work that well and get clogged up easy.

Smart man, I just love common sense! I hope my crew sees all of your videos, you're a great teacher. I'd love for you to see my take on stamped concrete, I have a unique style that my customers love.

Cool garage. Walkout from the house and one from the basement. A man needs alternative escape routes when the frying pan is flying.

I set drains the same ,but I only put blobs of Crete about 1 meter apart and set the drain to height ,and when we pour slab concrete goes under drain and wraps around it giving it a lot of strength if u follow me ,nice work like always.

Thanks we set a drain on slab blocks and they spray foamed it down and under it. That was for a heated slab.

Great vid. I wondered why that PVC drain didn't get attached all the way at the end of the trough. Any standing water possible? Thx.

I saw a white pipe that looked to be protruding downward that they packed the mortar around. Was that a drain to a septic system or some other application? Or did I misunderstand what I was seeing? In my garage that I'm building I'm trying to understand how to do drainage outside drainage inside in addition to a potential pipe out to a former septic tank in case I want a bathroom. All these lines seem to have to cross at certain points and it's very confusing how everything will have to come together in the end. At some point in the future I would also like to go from hot water heater radiant floor heating to geothermal. Trying to come up with a plan that leaves me options for the future while not bankrupting me in the present is a real dilemma. In any event thank you for all of your videos they are always very interesting. Here comes the mud!

Tom the pipe you are referring to is just the exit line from the trench drain to evacuate the water from the trench drain to the outside of the building.

why do you put plastic over the rebar and not under the rebar - for vapor barrier? Does not the rebar need to be in the concrete? -

Good idea except the grate needs to have holes small enough to keep mice out if you are draining to daylight.

Not sure a mouse could fit in there

Somehow i doubt that drain will ever see enough water to justify piping it very far
