Thanks for your channel and your great reviews. But there was one phrase you used that made me smile. You said that the rifle " Won't have too much power to do too much harm ". Haha, even as a boy I wanted my rifle to have as much power as i could afford to do as much harm as possible. Maybe it's an American thing.
Who needs surgery and beauty products to roll back the years….I believe Andy looks around 14 again, well done Diana truly a miraculous transformation and another excellent review THANKS to the AAR team.
Reminds me a bit of my first air rifle back when I was 14 ( 1980 ) a bsa meteor in 22 loved every minute I could get shooting it in the garden aged nearly 56 now this have springers love em I've tried pcp's not for me I'm afraid I just don't get the same enjoyment from them as I do a Springer great review andy as always can't wait for the next one 👍
Good review as always. Nice little springer, got a HW99S a couple of years ago, ostensibly for my grandson but just use it myself when I want a change from PCP's. There is something satisfying about using a basic spring air rifle with open sights (even if the target is a blur with 66 year old eyes).
HW99 and especially S it is a completely different class of springers. From the House of Weihrauch I'd rather compare 240 with hw30 (not even S). HW30/50S are considered to be the best quality for price entry level in Germany Diana 240 is the best in low budget segment.
I like it. The stock reminds me very much of my 1947 BSA Cadet (my own first rifle, still in my possession) and it seems like a lot of fun to plink with. At that price it's a good first rifle for a youngster because you're not losing much if they don't take to shooting.
"how every young shooter should start". Couldn't agree more. I have some lovely, expensive air guns. But I still get the most satisfaction from killing a few cans in the garden!! As always, a great review Andy 👍
Yeah it's a similar thing with motorcycles having a big nice 750 or 1000cc sport bike is nice and great when you're more experienced but jumping back on a 250cc is never a bad time.
I probably fall into the category of the people complaining about the price of some of rifles . But shooting is a second hobby of mine and some of the prices are eye watering . But I also do appreciate the reviews of the rifles that are expensive and as always the comment's are directed towards the price of the gun not the superb quality of your videos because your reviews are always informative and top draw .. and maybe the patient number 240
Andrew asked why two-forty. It is a remake for Diana 24 (even russian springer mp512 through Diana 22 which russian copy is also known as PSR aka ПСР, but it is a difficult lineage) which used to be a very prominent model in the past. Two-forty was previously produced as 240 but as Diana became a part of GSG (aka German Sport Guns) they re-issued it. I know that Diana still produces some models like AirKing in Germany, but the majority are probably manufactured somewhere in Asia.
Nice little back garden plinker, especially for those not blessed with large gardens. Will make a nice low cost junior introduction rifle and I find fibre optic sights a lot easier to use than normal open sights.
An absolutely great review Andy, thank you. Great also to see you cocking and loading the barrel correctly by holding the barrel at all times to prevent any nasty accidents. Once again brilliant and nice to see encouragement for our younger generation. 👍
Loved the vid, mate. I have the Diana 24 incarnation, and, at 57 -me, not the rifle- it's still enormous fun making cans dance in the garden. Not to mention the nostalgia trip, recalling how I started out with a Gat gun and Diana SP50.
As others have suggested, I also think this 240 is heir to the Diana 24 - T03, from the 1990's. Originally sold by RWS, I bought mine used in the States. At 41 1/2" its slightly longer than your 240 but with comparable power. Last time over the chrony mine averaged 606 fps with 7.33 JSBs (or 6 ft-lbs). I tried a scope and decided the weight took away from the essential nature of the weapon. Now it has an aperture rear sight matched to the original perlkorn. Thanks for the review.
Great review and great air rifle I have One with a scope work's great love my one been getting lot's of rat's at my sister's place love This air rifle thanks from Michael in Australia
Can't beat a springer and open sights for keeping you down to earth. Whenever anyone I'm coaching tells me they need a better gun, I show them a card I shot with a 15 year old SMK B2 at 20-odd metres. I was aiming about 4 feet high, but they all went in.
A great rifle for the young, and with a scope extend the range 35 to 40+ yards,a great video and I have two Rifles that are the same ftlbs, and I all ways shoot 40yards.snd and you can hunt with it indoors or out doors shot lots pigeons..
Looks great to use as a club gun. Since I got my NSRA YPS ticket I've been looking at buying some budget guns to train kids with, and this is defo on the shortlist. I like the automatic safety, wouldn't want one on my gun, but for pupils, that's great. I like that it isn't stippled, as a quick wipe down between sessions will cover all the surfaces, stippling isn't that sanitary if you share. Power level is great, no point hammering your pellet traps, and the lower fps means you can teach holdover at more reasonable ranges. Cheers for this one.
10 x 10 Andy ! Fantastic little rifle which is perfect to introduce first time shooters. Nothing succeeds like success, and having an affordable little gun which hits what you aim at is all that it takes! Tack driving comes later!! TTFN.
I,m happy to see a springer again. For sure a nice airgun for the younger shooter. I wonder how it will group with a scope mounted. If you wear glases it is often a problem to shoot with open sights.
Fantastic little rifles I have something similar in my collection that I've customized and modified and made into a good performance target rifle at 50 yards
Accuracy would massively improve if you use a non solid rest, springers are lively beasts and need taming by a consistent softer hold, eg the fore end rested on a cushion or your hand.
Reminds me of my 1991 West German RWS Diana youth 24. With a 1 inch stock extension boot, it is my winter basement rifle. It is the size and feel of a Ruger 10/22 carbine.
Super review, and a super little gun. Very much reminds me of the BSA Meteor that we had as kids, 3 or 4 of us clubbed together to buy a 2nd hand one, and as none of us were allowed by our parents to have an airgun, we had to keep it hidden in the woods, sadly, we didn't hide it well enough, and someone "relieved" us of it! Anyway, When I started working, I bought a new one and a scope, then a Mercury, which was a lot nicer....Happy days
Like your channel very much . The Diana Is very similar , almost identical , to my Hatsan Striker Alpha which may not be available in the UK . ? At 68 I’m not a junior shooter but after buying my Hatsan a few months ago I’m hooked and shoot almost every day , luckily where I live I have the space .
Sorry I missed the show today Andy . Just watched it now . Great rifle. Iam sailing ⛵️ down from Luxor to Aswan . Cheers Simon from York 😎🥵🇪🇬🏴🚤⛵️
Hello there love Springers they bring back good memories of my grandad. Might invest in one for my children seems to be a good choice. I got my hands on a hdx 68 they are so much fun!!!!! Love your reviews 👍
Morning Andy what a great little air rifle and as you said perfect for the younger members of the sport and for new comers also and maybe for the well seasoned shooters out who just want to relive there childhood ,and as for the rifle only being 6ftlbs if my memory serves me correctly air rifles in Germany could only be 6ftlbs
Another great video. Thanks Andy. I love a springer. Shoot mine much more than my PCPs and that one seems fabulous for the junior and the senior! I find springers shoot better if rested on your hand rather than a tripod. Not here to criticise, just an idea. Here to enjoy the content again. Please keep it coming
Great review, The 240 Classic sold here in Europe is made in Germany and the allroud feel is of really high quality, the butt plate is plastic instead of rubberized, and the rear sight is metal. Cheers
Andy please can you look into the claim that the BSA CLX has a design floor, that the monoblock action is held into the stock by only 2mm of wood at the screw point!
Recently bought a springer pistol that I think you should check out. It's called the Strike Point by Umarex and it's quite a bit of fun. It has a pump system that gives you more power the more you pump it up; I was recommended by the guy in the shop to never try more than 10
Very inspiring review indeed. Thank You Andy! I can relate much more to such a springer review because I am not a fan of PCP or Co2. Too much power management for me as the occasional plinkerer/target shooter. I don't want to hold myself up with Co2 cartidges or a compressor for a PCP. With its advertised 7,5 joule output, this baby complies with our german laws for permitted output of non licensed airguns. (nitpicking alert: 5,53 ft.lbs according to my math). I think that with i.e. 7,41 grain pellets it would have the potential of meeting the specs on the chrony. However I believe that 7,87 or 8,18 grain pellets would be optimal for this rifle.
EXCELLENT REVIEW AS EVER...NICE BIT OF KIT FOR WHAT ITS INTENDED FOR, I TRIED TO TEACH MY 11yr GRANDSON TO SHOOT USING MY HW97!!! NOT GOOD, ENDED UP BUYING HIM A CP2, BUT I REALLY WANTED HIM TO SHOOT A SPRINGER FIRST, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT ON THE MONEY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ANDY.
Those fiber optics are really fragile. Broke a few by accident, much prefer iron sight even though fiber optic gives a more clear picture. Just bought the Diana 27 with T06 trigger and iron sights to add to the collection of german springers! Nice review Andy. Regards
Great fun, unfortunately or fortunately depending on your point of view, we in Scotland are not allowed to shoot in our back garden, shooting range only.
If I might make a suggestion Andy if you get a chance you should review the Springfield Armory M1A Underlever Pellet Rifle at some point. It's a nice replica of the U.S. Garand M1A, fires at up to 1,000 fps muzzle velocity, and is thus perfectly suited for varmint/pest, and small game hunting. Also being a replica of an iconic U.S. battle rifle is a plus. Though I'll grant it wouldn't be quite as iconic in Europe. It would certainly be a nice review to add with the other spring piston reviews you've done.

Well not quite Spring as the Equinox falls at 1533 UTC on the 20th but calendar Spring begins on the 21st but close like the 5 foot pounds vs the claimed 6!
I like the slick, clean and classic design. But, even if it is a budget rifle, I would prefer metal parts all over the place instead of the plastic ones.
nice review :) and tbh games take up a lot of time and do cost a lot this day and age £70 for a base game and you would be paying 140 plus for all the add ons ect
Thanks for your channel and your great reviews. But there was one phrase you used that made me smile.
You said that the rifle " Won't have too much power to do too much harm ".

I had a Meteor too, loved that gun.
@@craigs71 I have still got mine. Had it for Christmas when I was fifteen. I'm now sixty seven.
I bought an smk syng which is the same action as a ruger airhawk /Diana 34,very accurate and powerful 👍🇬🇧
I bought my BSA Meteor 22 way back in 1970. Still use it now. Just love it.
'made in china' I could cry. I tracked down a new diana 48 to remind me of my youth but the whole point is that you own a quality German made rifle
Not my sort of thing but we definitely need more of these kind of reviews to get people into air rifles.
I second this comment
👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🦄😁🤞✌
There getting me into them! I think I'm gonna buy the m1 carbine semiautomatic bb rifle. The wood stock version!!

Or Beeman R7 if you're in the States. Although Airguns of Arizona trys to keep HW 30s in stock.
I have a Winchester 435 (diana 35) made in 1970. Fantastic shooter.
hi andy my first air rifle was a diana, 60 years ago and i am still shooting today. great fun. brian d.
Beautifully simple, great to see these starter rifles. MORE!!

I have a Diana springer from the 80s and it’s still going strong and can easily dispatch a rat at distance

Anywhere between 2-3 games at modern prices, but still better value as they will get more hours of fun out of the Diana than they will the games!
