Glad to hear it. If you have any problems let me know and I can try to help you out. You might wanna see if you can get a friend to try it out with you as well. When you find a match with players, it can sometimes be demoralizing since many players have been playing longer than you, but if you bring a friend along, you have someone to learn with, and you can duel with them while you two learn the game. I've got servers in EU anyone can use, but if you're NA, I'd recommend checking out Warserver/Q3Retro. www.q3retro.com/discord
@@Kant_Kartwiel I'm actually in India so I guess your servers would have better latency for me. I used to play this a lot back in the day like early 2000s. To be honest nothing really demoralises me anymore 😅
@@Dhruv1223 Understandable. Yeah I don't know if there's any servers for Q3 in the Asia region. I know Q3MSK has servers in Russia, my servers are in Germany, and Warserver/Q3Retro has servers in Netherlands. If it becomes super unplayable, I have a video on setting up an Ubuntu VPS and running a Q3+ server on it. So if you wanted to, you could always setup your own servers haha. If you are able to port forward, you could setup a windows server as well, but I don't remember the commands for that. I can't port forward with my ISP, so I never actually really learned how to set up dedicated servers on my PC. I always use a Linux VPS.
Great vid man, thanx! mine works great for everything except that I have shoot latency, like i click and the gun shoots 600ms later or so. Any recomendation for a fix? Thank you! greetings from Argentina
@@MartinMonteleone You have shot latency because whatever servers you're playing on are using vanilla Quake 3 netcode. Good servers nowadays use mods like Q3+, excessive+, or ZMOD. I don't know about servers in South America, but since you're closer to NA than Europe, you could try the Q3Retro servers. They use ZMOD, so the netcode is way more playable than vanilla netcode. If you're hosting your own server, I'd recommend using the mod Quake3+ since it has improved netcode. There's also a player named Champi who I think someone has said is south american, so you could try asking him what he knows about servers that are good. I've seen him in the Q3Retro discord before. I think he mainly plays Open Arena but he might know Q3 stuff as well. Open Arena is an open source version of Quake3 which you set up the exact same way as Q3, but you use OA pk3 files and an OA engine launcher. So if you can't find good Q3 servers, maybe someone could direct you to OA servers.
Gonna try this soon 😁
did it work

Awesome Started Guide!
Are quake live servers compatible with ioquake ?
@@ari-athbadminton0301 No, quake live is an entirely different game.

People say to buy it because that's how to legally get the pk3 files.
As a police officer, thank you for this comment bro, because otherwise we're gonna go after you
