It is very well thought out instructions, I needed this information. But the part where you drilled out the 2 rivets for the glass was edited out for some reason. Also the bolts I chose to replace rivets were 1/4-20x1/2 and of course 1/4-20 nuts. I had to go back and get two 1/4-20x1" for the ones that go through the window. The video where he does the front window of same car gives you some extra information.

Absolutely the best instructions on how to change a window regulator! I needed to change the right rear regulator on a 2003 For Crown Victoria. It was exactly the same procedure! I appreciated your precise instructions and the lack of any hype or unnecessary comments. Very professional! It would have been very difficult to do this without instructions. Thank you!! You're simply the best!

I just did this using primarily THIS video for my step-by-steps and others to add for removing the rivets that are in the window. Here are some things I messed up/learned that you might avoid.
    1. You can punch the rivets in the window out. Just use a smaller tip punch. You can also drill the rest of it out but I started with smaller bits and built up. (There's are a few videos showing people do this...just a search away.)
    2. Obviously this poster is a pro and I'm definitely not. He made putting nuts and bolts in look so simple....it wasn't for me. TIp for that...
    3. If you've buying the Dorman window regulator, getting the nut/bolt through the motor hole closest to the door handle is a pain. I ended up taping that nut to the back of the hole so it lined up to accept the bolt BEFORE installing the regulator into the door. That worked out fine.(Yup...had to remove the whole thing in order to do this because I couldn't install them. Yup...didn't have the larger rivet gun to do the job with a rivet, but the Dorman regulator made finding the correct size difficult for me. I would have preferred the rivets. Again, I'm not a pro.)
    4. The white "discs" on the window that cover the holes: Don't remove them from the window. I didn't watch carefully and thought he had. Another thing I had to fix.
    5. If you install the aftermarket (Dorman) regulator, you won't be able to replace "only the motor" if the motor goes out. The holes don't line up for it.
I hope that helps some of the people who had questions with this. If I had the correct rivets and gun, this job would have taken about an hour to 1 1/2 hours. I didn't and had to problem solve the bolts/nuts and repair the white discs. It took longer.

YES he forgot to show the two rivets you drill out that connect the glass to the regulator. he's probably assuming you should know this but if your watching this video then he should of shown this step.

Good video with the exception of the rivet removable in the glass bracket. In fact, that is the critical part of the procedure. DONT BREAK THE GLASS. I jammed a wooden wedge between the door and the rivet plate and the rivet center punched out easily.

    What size are mounting bolts

Did this about 5 years ago and the bolts to the window fell out where it attaches to the regulator. To anyone doing this be very careful when knocking out the rivets for the glass and make sure to use some loctite on the bolts attaching the window to the regulator

I took a Sawzall to the middle metal piece, then tapped the two screws at top thru to the inside. Then the window can come down and you can get to the rivets. I drilled them all the way out, didn't wanna tap and take a chance of breaking glass. I'm not sure why this video was made, for a working window....

How did you get around the rivets on the glass? ( which is the hardest part)

Great Video, very precise . Now could I do that at my age. Hmmmm. So I've got a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis, both of the Passengers side front window and the Drivers side back passenger window aren't working as they will slide all the way open/down. I've got the Driver side back window taped so it won't open. But I removed the Drivers front passenger door panel from the door, trying to figure out, what to do next. Wondering whether both window problems is the Motor/Regulators. If I took it to a shop, what would be the Cost be to replace both window motor/regulators? I know between some Private shops, and Dealer prices, sometimes are a big difference. What do you think. I know "parts changing" can get expensive if you don't know if the problem is what you think it is, instead of knowing what it is. Your Video is definitely a Great, Start to Finish one. Everything explained. I saw one comment about the drilling out of the Glass rivets wasn't shown, but I watched another video, and Yes, they just drilled the rivets heads holding the Glass in, and used Bolts and nuts to replace the rivets just like you did with the rivet replacement on your other parts. Thanks again for the Great Video.

At about 17:20 during the lift test why did the window jostle towards the front and rear? Is it the window guides ? How to avoid?
    Please

Kinda glossed over the removing rivets from glass part. I guess the edited out him breaking the glass with his punch.

I bought a Dorman assembly. The thing came in a box to fit the unit with absolutely _NO_ packing material! There was a big hole in the box right where the motor was located, and a big hole in one of the corners. The motor tested dead. I returned it. They gave me only a little over 50% back. (And, that was after multiple tries to get a refund!) Chumps! I will never buy a Dorman so-called product again.
