I was an androgynous Goth kid in my youth and had people call me "Miss" all the time despite being male.
I had a store clerk come up to me and my girlfriend and ask "What can I do for you ladies?"
A friend of mine was picked up by his mom at the coffee shop we hung out at and when he got in the car she was teasing him with "Who was that cute girl you were with?"... Hint... It was me.
She was surprised when he told her I was a guy. When he told me about it later, I just said "At least I know your mom thinks I'm cute."
There was no "emotional labour" involved in any of this. It is what it is.
You chuckle to yourself and go on with your day because you have shit to do.

I too know how it feels like to be misgendered. I volunteer at a food pantry lifting heavy boxes to people's cars and just generally being a stout male presence amongst a group of otherwise little old female volunteers to discourage any ner-do-wells from taking advantage and it is honestly a weekly thing for someone we are giving food to to say "thank you ladies" to us collectively even though I am very clearly a man in both the biological and behavioral sense.
No one would take me seriously if I broke down crying over it though, because at the end of the day why should I care, its a random nicety of convenience and the least awkward response on all sides is to take it for the nicety it was clearly intended and go on about my day. But it still happens and is no different than when it happens to them, they are just so self-centered that they don't realize that these mountains that they choose to make out of molehills aren't even unique to them, and that maybe part of the reason people don't empathize with their struggle more is simply down to them not being able to empathize with us in the first place, because they need to be special even if that means making themselves miserable over nothing.
Yeah. I am male, when I was teenager I was pretty small and not wide in shoulders at all. Was riding a subway once and man behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked "Sorry miss, do you exit at next stop?" so that I make way in case I don't. I did cringe internally, but my reaction was not to make a scene, it was "well fuck, lmao". Ultimately, it did not matter though, because I KNEW who I am. The reason those people are insecure about it is, despite all their self-convincing, deep down they are not sure, which is why when they are reminded about it, they flip out - since they can't confront who they are or accept themselves. They need external validation, because they know they don't have internal one, so when that external validation does not come, they flip out.
I feel this. I’m a guy, born and raised thank God. However my voice is naturally higher pitched then most men; whenever I’m on the phone, people constantly call me “ma’am”.
I don’t get upset over it, I don’t rage and scream out loud, I laugh it off and move on. Rarely do I correct them because what’s even the point?

That has been my experience with very many interactions with people in general, not just this specific group. This specific group is just slightly less capable of processing information than the average person. Yes, even with their colourful and energetic absurdities, the habit of going down the wrong cognitive route and seeking the worst interpretation that's so off base from what was said that you couldn't predict it is very similar to what counts as "normal" interactions a lot of the time.
I'm just waiting for more people to start to notice the pattern and comprehend it well enough to see it happening elsewhere. The pattern of information-processing-failure-leading-to-hostility thing, not dressing bizzarely and expecting other people to play along rather than just do their business normally.
You can always just apologize and say . The world is tough now I tried to affirm your identity I thought you were an ugly chick being a guy . Its too hard now a days sorry mam.

Most people don't even notice what you're wearing, not when you compare it to a physical difference other appearance deficit. People will literally attack you for looking different. ...and though victims of it, those individuals never would ask in a million years to control your speech because they know the words aren't the problem.
I suspect that the risk that disabled people are going to get attacked are very low but yes, scumbags that may do that are sadly a reality. But yes disabilities will be noticed. Some annoying people may make a scean of it and even worse baby talk to them. Myself, I offer assistance when it make sense like holding up a door that is difficult for someone in a wheelchair, or someone with a stroller or something like that. I am rather tall, don't hesitate to ask me for help to reach something on a high shelf in the grocery store.

I would say it is a problem that we are trying harder to solve the "misgendering issue" than the "dude thinks he is a woman" issue...... if we want to start worrying about mental health, maybe we could start with the whole delusion.
To be fair, there is genuine Gender Dysphoria that exists. HOWEVER, 99% OF THESE PEOPLE AREN'T GENUINELY GENDER DYSPHORIC!!! Instead, the system simply needs to be restored to a logical system.
The person needs to go through Therapy and get a genuine diagnosis, the therapy then must go for at least 1 full year, then they must dress/present as the other gender for at least 6 months solid, then finally if they have the diagnosis and they successfully enjoyed the presenting. Only then can they get the Hormones & Surgeries & other steps to treat the Gender Dysphoria.
Look at Blaire White & Buck Angel for genuine Gender Dysphoric individuals who aren't Leftist nutcases.

I accidentally misgendered someone the other day, and just apologised and moved on. They were surprisingly cool about it, I was really scared for a minute because its like walking on eggshells around certain people, and I really didn't want the drama. But fortunately not everybody is batshit insane and can be reasonable when genuine mistakes are made.
