My friends and I snuck in to see this when I was 14. Scared the hell out of me. When we came out of the theater into the mall I swear all the people looked like zombies. Then we went outside and some old man had slipped on the ice in the parking lot and cracked his head open. He looked dead and there was a lot of blood. People were standing all around him like zombies! It was the first time I tasted true terror.

I say just grab a backhoe and dig a moat if u can’t get to an island.
And we’ll spend hours debating how a zombie can have no immune system yet not get eaten by maggots ans fall apart in weeks walking around in the sun.
And how they can see when they don’t blink. CANT even do that 10 min,
So u are way way overestimating my friends.

Sorry to rant but when I got the shits and stuck on a toilet all day it’s wjat I do. I got colitis too so happens a lot.

I've been watching this movie since I was 14 and I never put the possibility of them flying over the home being the same home from Night, tying the two together.
Another note, the whole biker invasion scene with all of those camera positions could have influenced resident evil

I was 8 when my aunt and her boyfriend took me to see this at the drive-in, they took me to a few dusk till dawn 2nd run movie marathons when they babysat overnight, but that night always stuck with me because of Dawn. The first movie was The Boys From Company C, still worth a watch, can't remember the name of the 2nd movie, it had Luke Skywalker/Mark Hamill in it, Jaws 2, not as good as Jaws but still superior to the other sequels and a better love story than Twilight, then Dawn of the Dead, it was amazing, I've seen it over 200 times over the last 43 years and would say it's my favourite movie of all time because of that night at the drive-in.

That's awesome! I was 7 when this movie came out. I remember seeing the tv commercial on late-night TV and getting so excited, like a literal endorphin rush, and begging my religious parents to take me to see it. Needless to say, that didn't happen, but I did get to see it on VHS in Jr. High and it's still my favorite zombie flick of all time. Your aunt is so cool!

@@deraykrause4517 Corvette Summer!! That was the other movie with Mark Hamill. My dad and aunt were both big horror fans. Halloween 1976 I was sick so stayed home with my dad while mum took my brothers to her sister's in the city overnight, (trick or treating in the country isn't recommended) we watched Night of the Living Dead and The Exorcist, my first crush was Linda Blair.

By then I add already been exposed to some legit gore flicks and it was cheesy. But Man! that trailer blew me away as a innocent child. The remake I thought made up for what I missed out on.

@@whitebread940 the Dawn remake is a “remake” in the loosest sense of the word. The only thing in common with the original film is they both take place in a mall. That’s literally where the similarities end. I also take serious issue with fast / running zombies. I think the running thing makes much more sense in films where the plague is attributed to a “rage” virus ie 28 Days Later.
But…nothing misses the mark more “remake” wise than the handful of Day of the Deads. Absolute atrocities that slap the late George A. Romero right in the face… they have NOTHING in common with the source material and what makes matters worse is that the original Day is probably my all around favorite of his Dead films. Sorry…horror nerd rant over. Cheers 🍻

awn's zombie make up fits the time-line though. Night: The Dead were fresh and still looked like the living they recently were. Dawn: The Dead's color had just begun to change from recently deceased people to starting to change, Day: so much time has passed that they're finally rotting. I know it wasn't intended because of FX budgets for the films but nobody ever makes this connection.

  • @ChaosTicket
    @ChaosTicket Год назад +1

Dawn of the Dead is still rather unique in that the plot isnt about simply surviving the immediate threat, but something long term to plan for. Turning a mall into basically a fortress is interesting. If the bikers hadnt shown up, what would things have been like?
Day of the Deed and Land of the Dead kind of addresses that. Without an immediate threat humans go back to things usually are. Wealthy people live in towers. Scientists are forced to gives results before theyre ready. Soldiers have weapons to force people to do things. Civilians at the bottom have to do what they can to survive.
George Romero had a message, Humans are the Real Monsters.

There was a vender who managed to have a copy of an even longer version (bootleg) Dawn of the Dead, apparently clocking in approximately 2 1/2 hours (YIKES) He even had a longer and gorier version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
