For those wondering, the Gen'Dai your thinking about was Durge, he modified himself to have a increase healing factor down to the cellular level, making him immortal, he was also insane. A normal Gen'Dai healing factor is not has extreme, they are still tough has all hell and could easily kill most jedi, has they can regrow limbs and be pretty much be shot through the chest with a canon, but by removing the head and not reattaching it they will die.
Dude this is my favorite race in Star Wars and if ever they bring in another character, I’d love them to be a force sensitive. I genuinely would love to see a Gen’Dai Jedi or sith’s capabilities in battle. The force working through a body like theirs would be amazing to see.
Thanks bro i was wondering how he killed him
I was wondering about the talking, didnt Durge need, audio vocalizers or something?
@@evannlorman7926 well he gotten blown up several times. you can’t reform perfectly every time
Yeah in the databank entry for him it says they can’t be truly killed unless the main nerve cluster is destroyed. That is most likely in their head/neck.
I like how they actually gave Cal some depth of character and had him give him the death he wanted instead of doing the typical Jedi thing and letting him live
@@ryanmoose4948 thanks for what?
@@ryanmoose4948yeah what you mean dog
Typical Jedi??? I'm pretty sure they don't let anyone that are a threat live.
Sad to think that since George's books and movies all the best stories are in books, comics and games.....so much to make into movies....and instead they go and remake the whole timeline fans from the beginning have come to love. Stick to the script or write outside what exists....why do people always have to try and remake something that was already great? The Thrawn Trilogy should come next after return of the Jedi and I'd follow the books as close as possible, while consulting with Zahn, and the ultimate fan....Sansweet. movies made.....billions happy.
Its always been fair game for the Jedi to kill active threats. They were freaking generals in the biggest war in recent history last time they were active. The only thing that rose eyebrows was when they straight up executed unarmed or defenseless enemies (like Anakin vs Dooku).
I still can’t believe the man who voiced Albert Wesker and Yoshikage Kira voiced this guy. What a legend
The dude loves to voice characters that has tentacles lmao.
I see a jojo reference
You mean OG Wesker that we know and love? Code Veronica and beyond?!
@@deralbtraumritter8573 the one and only
@@christbenitez8797 bruh 😂
Wish this guy was in the game more. He was badass and had an awesome voice.
That's because his voice actor was also Albert Wesker from resident evil
Agreed, I feel it to my bone
Honestly the sound design is so good it actually feels like your in the room from hearing equipment shift about to the sound of their subtle breath
I was thinking the same thing
LMAO footseps aren't even sybced with footfalls half the time, this game janky AF. Reminds me of Star Fox Adventures.
Rayvis was probably my new favorite character in the game, no doubt.
Dagan just came across as a child with anger issues after he lost his favorite toy he obsessed over.
Dagan was literally just Anakin but more immature about it lol
@@TheOriginalPoon kylo ren
I would of preferred Rayvis as the main villain.
You're right, but it could be argued that this is exactly what the writers intended for Dagan to be.
I love dagans character. Darkside but not sith. When rayvis tells him after he completes the mission he will leave, j Like the way dagan calmly says "what then old friend, perhaps we can go to tanalor and dream up wars of our own".
He’s the same species as DURGE?!? that’s fucking badass
Yup,a Gen'Dai,except Durge amped his regen rate to 11
@@attilakovacs5040 thats a retcon, originally durge was just durge, and had nice armor
@@attilakovacs5040and got trained by a mando
@@Onionaniamtions no he was taken captive and tortured by mandalorian, if i remember correctly
5:48: Rayvis had his "dew it" moment
Lol
I feel Ravis let Cal kill him. He acknowledged his abilities and finally saw an opportunity for the warrior's death he craved.
Honestly, I agree with you
Yes. He clearly said he no longer wanted to serve.
After Cal defeated him, he essentially sacrificed himself, he couldn't allow himself to simply be killed so he still had to fight
@@FezCaliphits more depressing than that. In a previous cutscene he says the galaxy has changed and that theres no honor in it anymore. When dagan offers to bring him to tanalor as a war advisor for his intention of training the raiders in the force to start a war with, he just says "perhaps...", hes totally depressed and at a loss of reason to live. He clearly really doesnt like living anymore, the instant he finishes his pact hes done, basically suicides by cop on cal hahaha
Honestly the Gen’Dai are such an interesting and cool species in Star Wars, it’s almost criminal that this is only the second time we’ve used them for media content besides Durge
Gen’dai are the focus of a plot line in the Old Republic game
how long their species can survive I never seen this species before
Yet Cal was able to do it by cutting his head off like come on fucking Obi Wan blew up durge from the inside out with the Force and he still didn't die the only way to kill him was to send him into the sun Gen'Dai don't go out the way that Rayvis did.
@Andrew Cabral Maybe Rayvis had just had enough. He didn't want to fight anymore perhaps.
@@barbos2765I know Durge was about 2000 years old by the time of the Clone Wars, and it is speculated that they are naturally immortal seeing as they can just repair their tissue and muscles, and etc. I don’t believe they have organs maybe outside of a brain and heart possibly. But I believe he can technically live forever
*EPIC SUPERHERO JUMPING CROSS SLASH*
Rayvis - 😑
Cal - "Ah come on."
So... Considering Rayvis is a Gen'Dai... This... Honestly SHOULND'T kill him... Unless the new Canon has severely nerfed the Gen'Dai species... Which would be a shame.
Hell, it's a shame they didn't include Durge, the by far most famous Gen'Dai in Star Wars...
Edit: I should really have delved deeper into the lore of both the Gen'Dai in general as well as Durge. Thanks for the corrections in replies. ^^
Nah durge was altered to the point where nothing could kill him
Beyond total incineration. Rayvis is the typical baseline.
maybe he can refuse to regrow?
The game establishes that if one severs the essential nerves then the Gen'Dai cant regenerate. Which is a pretty heavy nerf when comparing to Durge but Durge was busted where he only died after being thrown into the sun.
@@dolfin5613 Durge spent 700 or more years making modifications to his already nigh-invulnerable body, he had a regen factor leagues better than Rayvis'
Let be honest...it’s all nerfed from the OG clone wars series
Cal, even though he didn't want to, still struck him down out of honor. o7
Agreed. I know some people would say that was a 'dark side choice,' and maybe there was some amount of dark side influence through some pent up anger and frustration, but honoring a warrior's culture by giving him a death in combat as he wants honestly doesn't seem dark to me. I get that the 'lighter' choice would be to try and reform him to value life over honor, but that doesn't make any other option dark.
love that moment at 3:30 it's just so human
This is the 2nd mainline appearence of Gen'Dai as a species, so im seeing a couple people confused on how this kills him.
Keep in mind that Durge spent 700 years altering and modifying his body and suit making him nearly fucking immortal. Our boi Reyvis is kinda how his species should be at base, strong and resilient as hell but not entirely invincible.
How does a suit allow you to pull yourself back together after literally being splattered all over a room? Didn’t they have to launch Durge into a freaking SUN to finally kill him?
@@n7sorcerer419 Durge modified his own body and cells I think. Like he was a mutant and had 700 odd years of doing it.
@@n7sorcerer419 yeah he did sun heavy modification to make himself regenerate insanely fast and his suit as well. The gendai are able to reform their bodies but their head is still a weak point of cut off
I think the reason it kills him is because it probably regenerates only if the Gen’Dai wants to live, so he probably just didn’t want to regenerate.
“Rayvis lost the will to live.” Is a legit Star Wars thing to happen.
I think people just have the wrong expectaction since Durge is the only other Gendai we've seen, Durge is modified.
@@PureGarbageWithCheeseit’s a actual thing
His age is most likely a factor too. He’s a minimum of 200+ years old
@@bigheck143 If I remember right they can live for several hundred years but I think being stuck in a cage for 200 years alone made him want to die.
It reminds me Durge from animated clone wars, when he fought Obi wan.
They're the same species.
I thought his kind can't be killed??
@@tavis_8381 they can be killed be destroying their brain or incinerating them.
@@tavis_8381 nope just extremely hard to kill
@@scarface2056 this would not kill him. His nerves would easily just grow back in time. Its like deadpool
BD just casually throwing a 1000+ pound piece of metal
Lol I was thinking the same thing. How did BD do that 😂
BD: "I'm also a survivor"
BD-1: And his pet human
BD is just like that 💪
Cal really does look like a Jedi.
I got mine with the beard and bandana. Jedi Rambo haha.
Thank you for this, my cutscene unfortunately had Rayvis spazzing out on the floor when Cal killed him.
0:45 well THAT was unexpected! 🤣
I'm constantly mind-blown by how amazing animation keeps topping itself in every aspect... Looks VERY cool!
When it comes to the question how hard it is to kill him because his race... remember that the Sith wasted their planet and nearly distinct them... so there is a way to kill them effectly.
In the end this is about how to work out the lore and the cannon and it is here not that clear and worked out as it can be.
You mean made to go extinct?
Incineration like durge when sent to a star and destroying their brain (they can regenerate brain cells) is the only way you can permanently kill a GenDai
Rayvis is the same species as durge from TCW micro series that means he must be thousands of years old, unless the new canon has changed how they age.
Nope he is younger than Durge, only several centuries old
He’s younger than Durge, and they’ve absolutely changed how this species works. They have been seriously nerfed in the new canon. Here, Cal was able to kill him with a single saber strike. In legends, the only way to kill Durge was to fly him into a star. Lightsabers couldn’t kill him. Even being blown apart from the inside couldn’t kill him. He needed to be destroyed all at once.
@@shoeman6966We can't say that for sure.
A. Durge spent centuries modifying himself to be the ultimate hunter. It is extremely likely that Durge makes every other member of his species look infantile in comparison.
B. Rayvis doesn't seem to have a whole lot of fight left in him. He wants to die to a worthy opponent. He probably just stopped himself from healing.
I don't take this as them nerfing the species. Just Durge being an exception among an already broken species, and Rayvis being borderline suicidal.
Rayvis was like Wamuu. He may have been misguided, but held a strong sense of honor. He was a true warrior, who deserved the noble death that Kestis granted him. I fuckin loved this guy.
I love Wamuu, the best Pillar Man
This difficulty level should be called: Plot Armor
The way he casually looks at the light Saber burning in his chest like " ha ha.. that tickles" is just horrifying. Badass but horrifying.
Love the look he gives Cal at 3:30 lmao
🗿
Even he’s like “really”
I just wish the game released in a good state because THIS is the star wars I want!
Then the purple giant said "you should have gone for the head"
At the end you can actually see Ravis gave cal a nod of thank you for finally ending his suffering.
It was not a nod. He was showing Cal his neck to make the cut easier and give the signal that he is ready to die.
Definitely reminds me of durge from the 2003 series of clonewars when he reattached his arm after cal sliced it off
Why do you think that is?
Same species
guys he's not dead. Obi wan slice durged into pieces and he just re attached his nerves together. Its suppose to make you think he's dead. I don't think the creators would kill him off like that. THats not how you kill a Gendi
How do you kill it then? ,I always wanted to ask someone
@@yashvardhansingh9285 throw em in the sun seems to work
@@westero1352 He still survived in legends
@@MrWongWey how about we shred him and store different part of him across the galaxy, will that work
He wanted to die though… maybe that had something to do with it
Rayvis knew thwre was no hope or honor in this galaxy. When dagan tells him perhaps we can go to tanalore and dream up wars of our own, rayvis smiled and said perhaps. He knows it is futile, he knows the galaxy isnt what it once was. Since dagan is the only warrior to ever best him in single combat he is looking for another worthy warrior who can defeat him and give him his honorable death
fun fact about Gen'dai, Cal killing him was really a mercy kill in the end. This is because the older Gen'dai, like Rayvis right here, are violent like him because their age basically gives them super anger issues mixed with dementia. considering how violent Rayvis is, dude's probably hitting his 6,000 year mark, so spending literally any time locked in a cage, unable to let out violent impulses is literally torture to him.
Rayvis is an example of a tired warrior: first it was for glory and adventure, then very long years of conflict, victories, defeats and humiliations wears you down enough to consider warrior's death more of a rescue rather than "it just happens".
Mandalorians at least do not live long enough (and do not have amazing healing capabilities) to become tired from their warrior lifestyles.
“If I had a nickel for everytime a cyborg/robotic Star Wars species fought a Jedi and told them they were a bold one I would have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice”
Who’s the other? Grievous?
@@Chopper51138 yep
Was expecting his exposed arm would extend his attack range like Durge did
Durge was quite older and had cybernetic enhancements so he was special in comparison to this guy
This scene was so good. It wasn't the jedi way but Cal gave him the death he deserved.
Didn't know frikin Vilgax was in this game 😂
really love how the empire isn’t the villain of this game
*7 minutes is all I can spare to play with you.*
0:15 Grievous moment haha
3:47 VA broke character, he was referring to when he was Wesker in RE5 and his arm did the same thing
"I yield"
10 secs later
Gimme mah warriors's death!
Cal stabbing Rayvis and him laughing is so similar to Obiwan stabbing Durge and him laughing in 2d clone wars. Same species too. Im sure it was intentional.
I finally beat him today (took it down from grand master to jedi master for my mental state) and the scene after you finally beat him glitched for me lol. Glad to see it without him teleporting around
I also played on grand master and it took me 3 hours lmao. On grand master rayvis goes absolutely insane with attack patterns in phase 2, and you can't take a break from it cause he regens.
0:15 HE SAID IT! HE SAID THE THING!
If I remember correctly, the Gen'dai can only die if you destroy their entire body, or slicing him through the brain. We can't see it that well but maybe Cal cut his head in half and that's why he died, or if there is a third game he'll be back and be mad at Cal for not killing him or something
I think he sliced his head but the game didn’t show it because of Teen rating
I’m pretty sure cal beheaded him
Gen’dai typically only die if you sever their essential nerves, Cal beheads him here.
You’re thinking about Durge, the only reason he didn’t die until he was thrown into a sun is because he had spent hundreds of years modifying his already extremely powerful body with an already above average regen to the point where he was nigh immortal.
they only die if you destroy their brain, the brain is the only thing they cant properly regenerate, thats why when grevious beheaded durge he didnt die, this shouldnt kill Rayvis unless he didnt behead him and simply cut through the brain chamber of his skull.
After that fight Cal began to be stronger than an old republic Jedi.
I just love how zesty Rayvis’ voice is that’s why I like him 😊
I know for a fact that Rayvis isn’t completely dead because the Jen’Dai can only be killed through complete cellular destruction so I know that he will be back
I love how in my game this part fucked up. After i defeated him he lags out and goes around screen jumping like crazy
They should've made this movie canon instead of the whole Rey thing. One of the best games I've played in recent years.

The sound his armour makes is so CRISP
Had to get on RUclips to see this. My game glitched out in the this cutscene making Rayvis look like a ballerina
I can't believe one of his race went down so easily.
I couldn't do it.

I would very much like to see the planet he speaks of, too. Visit it, if possible
I love the “I heard you” from rayvis
I'm really glad they included a Gen'Dai in this one. I hope we get to see even more interesting alien species in the next games like the Chiss maybe
That dude is an incredible actor.
0:06-0:14
BRILLIANT callback to 2003 Durge. Gave me chills!
And I have to say also I love the samurai death man fell on his shield
Now I'm not one of these kinds of people, but there could be a chance, he'll come back.
It's kind of fitting that the voice actor for Albert Wesker gets to play another character that kind of has Ouroboros worms coming out of them😂😂
D.C. Mothafuckin' Douglas. Hail, Legion! Hail, Wesker! Hail, this guy!
I really like the manner of Rayvis's insidious laughter
I like how he bent his head to make it easier to make a clean cut.
How crazy would it be if he comes back? I mean, how many times in any fiction has there been an enemy who begs for death and the hero *thinks* they gave it to them but didn’t? Like would Rayvis have a right to be angry if Cal legit didn’t know the *right* way to kill him and tried the best way he knew how?
You are still full of fear young Jedi, I can see it in your movements. You hesitate, you hold back.
So great to see the baddie doesn't use the ample opportunity to destroy his opponent when the chance is given to the fullest.
The closest we're ever going to get to a Druge vs. player game.
I'm pretty sure a warrior's death doesn't immediately getting followed up with an equivalent of "I uh... I'll see myself out."
The stance at the end where he cuts of the arms and the head of looks like a knight mix with a samurai
"Rayvis! I've come to bargain..."
Despite being able to live indefinitely the Gen’dai don’t seem mentally able to do so. Durge lost his mind, from what I remember, and then Rayvis simply lost the will to live. Makes you wonder how humans would act if they could live that long.
Thanks for havinf a neutral outfit, some of the other vids have cal in some goofy fits lmao

Rayvis was great... I felt like he went down easy compared to the one in the cartoon when I was a kid. Although from comments I've gathered that that particular one was heavily modified
Wait…is he the same species as Durge from 2003 Clone Wars?
yeah, but durge is like, the pinnacle of said species. this guys pretty average for the species. Hard as fuck to kill, but you don't need to throw him into the sun.
Yup, though a younger and more baseline specimen. Very hard to kill but not altered to be capable of death through complete incineration.
