    Just want to say that I enjoy all your videos and how informative they are.
    I would love the new Manticore, but the problem is that when all these new videos came out with Minelab reps saying it was going to be $1500.00 which equates to £1200.00 in English money, you can imagine my surprise when I went to buy one it was infact £1700.00. Me personally, I think I will stick to the nox 800 and by a second hand one comes to surface. Mad money, and I detect most days of the year.
    Keep up the good work. 👍

Talked to my dealer and told him I wanted to trade my Ctx in on it and he called me crazy. Got the Equinox 800 all 3 coils and wp headphones for the 5 year old ctx. Best decision I ever made detecting wise, few months after release dealers werent taking ctx's in for the Nox anymore hehehe. All the bells and whistles on the Ctx were nice, but alot of fluff. Glad to see the Manticore took the best of the Ctx (target trace and 2d graph) and mixed them with the Equinox.

    The best machine Minelab ever made was the Minelab Explorer II. 😀. I purchased my one new in 2005. 🙂. In my detecting club over here in England there are only 2 detector manufacturers used Minelab and Deus. My machine is older than all the other machines put together. Lol. 🤣. My machine is now 17 years old 😲 and held together with tie grips and copper pipe ( stem snapped in half and I refused to buy a new one 😳 ). Question is have I been left behind in the technology wars and do I find as much as everyone else. 🤔. Regarding technology I suppose maybe, I can't detect fast because the recovery speed is quite slow and regarding my finds rate compared to other members well you would have to ask them but I will finish by saying I don't need to buy an Equinox or Manticore just yet. 🙂😁😃🤣🤗.

  • @oldplucker1

    I have tested the Equinox on a spectrum analyser and the multi IQ uses just 3 frequencies. The other frequencies are for single frequency use. It does not multi IQ all those frequencies at once. The Nox uses 8~9kHz, 18~19kHz and 40kHz.
    What I am looking out for is where the Manticore has dropped some useful features of the Equinox. 👍Spec is short for Specifications.

Will Merrill swing the Deus II for years, probably not. I will because my opinion is the Deus is unbeatable, but we will see. I just bought a Bounty Hunter for my grandaughter it's the Elite 2200. I shortened the shaft so it fits her, and it now weighs less than two pounds and is a coin magnet up to six inches. I bought it used, but it has never has been used, even though it has not been sold for over ten years. It is the machine I started with eleven years ago, and I love that machine.

Exactly how is this thing an improvement over the vastly insecure VDI readings of all digital detectors? 50% more power in VLF detectors DOES NOT equal more depth, but it does equal 50% less battery life for sure, unless there is a brand new breakthrough battery technology involved here.

    Merrill, I wanna see you in the field with your Deus II more. For me, it outperforms the NOX 800. You have many hours swinging the NOX but little swinging your Deus. I have been finding a lot of silver coins where I've hunted with the NOX in parks. Ok OK, you will never hear me bugging you about using your Deus anymore. Great video. One more thing, the NOX has been out for a long time before the Deus II came along, so you learned it well and got many hours on it. Now Minelab is coming out with a new detector, just after the Deus II, not fair.

    In both the clip you showed, and addicted to beeps’ “first look and test” video, the engineer says that in multi-frequencies, the manticore runs higher frequencies than the Equinox (5:15-5:35 mark).
    I’m beginning to think the 100 target ID is including the number 0. So, it’s 0-99, totaling 100. The screen only has two number slots.

    • @TarnishedCharm

      The target IDs will run -99-0 for Iron and 0-99 for non ferrous. So, a 200 point ID spread, pretty cool!

    Merrill, something to check out. I read that the Manticore has a 9 hour run time that would potentially be reduced, depending on settings. Does that seem low to you? Also, recharging takes 7 hours, so probably no 'in-field' top off charging! For me, this is a huge issue, if true!

Pozdrawiam

    I have few questions/ concerns based on what I've seen so far, but they might be premature...
    Manticore said to have 50% more power than the Equinox, but a full charge only lasts 9 hrs? That doesn't seem very long to me...and how long to recharge the detector?
    Option to use my own headphones with an adapter, or forced to use the proprietary wireless headphone system it comes with? Related to that, will submersible headphones be offered? (Wireless doesn't work when the control box is submerged).

    You can modify the Equinox 800 5 tone program to a 3 tone program This will give you the following:
    Tone 1 break point -9 to 0 (low tone iron grunt)
    Tone 2 break point. 1 to 19. Med tone
    Tone 3 break point. 20 to 38 -39-40 high tone
    I prefer the three tone programs. Why doesn't Monelab have a three tone program?

    Of course more power is more depth, like TX on the Deus one or Boost on the Fisher. Of course, the machine gets chattier and uses more battery power, but that's old technology. Sounds like Minelab has that figured out. Remember, there would be no Deus 2 or Legend without the Equinox blowing up the detecting world with simultaneous multi frequency.

    • @MetalDetectingNYC
      @MetalDetectingNYC  2 года назад +1

      Very difficult. You are thinking depth as in up down. On many of the deepest detectors a target will be at ground level 10-12 inches away and will make the detector show a deep signal. And that is not falsing. That is a correct read from the side.

    • @LobsterClawzRecovery
      @LobsterClawzRecovery 2 года назад +3

      I have the XP Deus 2, and if you adjust audio response down to somewhere between 0 and 3 you should get the result you want. Only the deeper targets will be faint sounding. You're going to need to use either the bone phones, or the complete over the ear headphones that were recently released, because you're going to need to isolate those faint sounds , deeper targets, as the ones you want to dig.

The Hunter GT programed my Deus II so nickels sound out loud, copper pennies and above sound out loud, and I do not discriminate. I just turn the volume up for targets I'm looking for, (nickels, copper pennies, dimes, etc) and everything else is a whisper. Sure I may be missing Indian Head Pennies, but I'm not wasting my time digging zinc pennies and I am on the left coast (west) and there are not many Indians here anyways.

I also did not loose any signals after i started digging like I did a few times with the 800 - ghost signals I guess or super small stuff. I have definitely found more earrings with the Deus 2. Just what I have concluded but digging to China is not my idea of fun so how deep is too deep. Pulling 4 scoops plus of sand out for a beer tab which the Deus 2 seems to love on the beach is daunting - ID of 65 is the killer number for these but hate to ignore it just in case.
