Paint Like Daubigny - pre-impressionist sunset over the ocean

- Don’t you love a good sunset too? I loves them and after seeing the artwork of Charles Francois Daubigny I wanted to make my own pre-impressionist sunset over the ocean. But how to pick the right colors for it? I do it by looking at Charles Daubigny paintings and holiday pictures of a sunset. Along the way I tell you some art history about the Barbizon School and pre-impressionism. Painting a sunset in the ocean is a nice way to learn more about painting and why it is interesting to look at art for help or examples of things to paint.

Materials
The art materials I use in the videos are not sponsored.
I prefer to work on multi-purpose paper, more info in this video: • How to choose the RIGH...
In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

Something figurative for a change. Very nice! Wonderful colors!
Thanks, ravingcyclist.
Hallo Ellen, graag gedaan. De kunstgeschiedenis krijg je er gratis bij. Albert
Beautiful!
Thanks Deb, it's a nice project to do. Albert
Beautiful!! I will try this!!!
Love it as ALWAYS!!!
Hi Deb, this is a nice color mixing study too. Have fun, Albert
Hi Albert. love this and the interesting narration about the artist as you always do
Thanks
Hi Just Sayin, thanks. The narrations can just give that little extra to understand the works and the time they were made. I liked painting it, had never done one like this and as always I met some obstacles, haha. Have a happy day, Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings I believe the more obstacles, to overcome them the more we learn
Exactly, we can only learn from failures and obstacles because we have to adapt. Although a moderate amount of obstacles every now and then would be nice. 😁 Albert
I really loved this video. I learned a lot and I never imagined I would be able to paint like this. I’m really happy with the painting I did after watching this. Thank you Albert.
Hi Jane, thanks. Nice to hear it was helpful. I'm always happy we have the beach on the west side of our country. On our summer holidays, when the weather is good, we like to wish the sun a good night when she disappears in the North Sea. Albert
An informative and skills-building experience watching your clips. Thanks so much Albert for sharing. How about a simple cubist painting for a future (like in yesterday :)
) demonstration ?
Hi Salim, thanks, love your comments. Simple cubist painting coming next week. But as always with my twist 😁. See you next week. Have a happy day, Albert
I shall be looking forward to it. I am all for twists :)
Working on it... is it alright for you when I tell that one of my subscribers inspired me and can I show part of your comment with your first name? Just checking.
Do as you like. Nothing to worry about.
cool....well-done and inspiring me as well....
Hi Christine, thanks and great to hear. Have fun painting your own sunset! Have a nice day, Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings ,dankjewel, Albert.....you get me going again!!!
Hallo Christine, graag gedaan, nu pleasure. Albert
I love this one Albert! Thanks from Colorado!
Hi Lance, thanks. Strange effect of this lockdown is that can we can't go to the beach and look at the sunset. But we can paint one. Stay safe, Albert
Nice
Thanks, punkeasy. It's also an interesting exercise. Albert
Pre-Fauvist
Thanks Don, you could be right. To me it's often more about enjoying myself painting, instead of putting everything in the right 'box'. Have a nice day, Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings Yes!
Here's a question for you, Arthur. You paint in the styles of a multitude of different artists, but what do you paint like yourself when you're not actually copying someone else? That would make a very interesting video
Hi DG, thanks. The video is already on my list. You're not the first to ask. So I thought about it I and will make it. When I look at my schedule it will be in February.
And I hardly ever copy work of an artist, most of the time I try painting in their style. I seems like nitpicking perhaps, but it really is different.
Happy holidays, Albert
