    I like these reels - don’t use them but I like them! Great job Dennis. My Roddy 904 didn’t come in so I was disappointed. This happens a lot near Christmas.

    How did you ever get started working on reels?

      My Penn reel broke and I took it to a shop for repair. The fellow said it wasn't worth fixing and wanted to sell me a new one. I thought it would be no loss if I attempted to fix it and with a little trial and error, I got it working again. Soon friends and family asked me to work on their reels. And so it started. Thanks for asking Joyce

    Thanks for your very informative videos. I fish Lake Michigan for salmon and just resurrected my old Daiwa 47H that is about 40 years old. Kind of a retro rod and reel set up. We landed the biggest salmon of the year on it at 21#. My problem is that the line guide wants to hang up on the right side when reeling. After watching your video, I disassembled the reel and cleaned it up and oiled it, but it still does the same thing. Gets stuck on the right or handle side. After reeling for a bit it eventually catches and moves again but it just hangs up again. What in your estimation is the problem? Is it the worm gear? The pawl? I'm not sure there are parts available either. Thanks, Rog

      It sounds like a worn or broken point of the line guide pawl or a damaged worm gear track. You need to inspect both and replacing the parts is the only way to repair the pieces

    Your videos are awesome. I have started getting into rebuilding my reels and I have learned so much from your channel. I do a lot of salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and have many level wind reels which is what I am primarily working on. These 47H's are great reels for the type of fishing I do. Question:. Do you know where I can find new drag washers for the 47H? Some of my old washers are in bad shape and I'd like to replace them but am having a hard time finding them. Thanks in advance and keep up the great videos.

      Not sure. Try Smoothdrag.com If you send them an email, they are usually very responsive and they know what ones may fit if you need to order by size (inside and outside diameter of the washer - Dennis

    There's a pair of the 47h reels at my local pawn shop for $45 for the pair that have been used in freshwater only here in Oklahoma. I'm thinking about buying them for catfishing would these be good reels for that Dennis?

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  2 года назад +1

      Yes - they would be ideal for catfish and the price is a good price for the pair - Dennis

      @@2ndChanceTackle bought those two reels after getting your opinion and I'd have to say they're probably my all time favorite reels already. I'm hunting for a bargain on a another 47H or 50H to pair with a 10ft casting surf rod for river catfishing. Thanks for always being welcome to help
