I'm glad you mentioned indigenous people when talking about discrimination/racism. Similar things were done to Native Americans in the US, but it is swept under the rug and no one talks about it!
Yes how easily forgotten history is. Our PM literally just said there was no slavery in Australia a couple of days ago. Australians should own up to our history, teach our children and rethink the way we treat our indigenous community.
I think I like your makeup looks more than anyone else’s I see. Every color is just so! I’ve been on a no-buy until I see what Sydney Grace has in store for next month.
I’ve had this long standing issue with the Australian brands, media outlets and advertising agencies. They will use or hire Africa American models and actors but not indigenous Australians to promote their brands and products in Australia. 🤔 No that’s not acceptable and that’s why I chose to buy from Brands, Business and department stores that don’t treat social concerns like a trend or a Box they need to tick. I’m extremely cautious at the moment but felt that there was a few items that I wanted back in December 2019 and January this year but didn’t buy then so I bought those recently because they were limited edition and the shops stayed open during lockdown so I wanted to support those employees and employers. The deaths in custody has been a major issue in Australia for centuries and really does need to be resolved. PS the pink packaging from Pat McGrath is all sold out now 😏
Yes I totally see that. A lot of it is disingenuous and I've heard of black and indigenous models who have been wrongly credited and treated very unprofessionally as the token black model. Only time will tell whether or not they'll actually make genuine changes. I think it's great you've been supporting those businesses. I'll be definitely making more efforts to support smaller, ethical businesses. Also yes I saw that the pink packaging is sold out so now I don't need to buy it 😋 decision made!
I’ve been using up what I have but really want the VB quad too! I love the simplicity of four basic colors. And the packaging is beautiful. I really enjoy your duping the vibes videos!
I think I'll bite the bullet at some point but since they're permanent, there's no rush 😊 also glad you're enjoying them. I plan to continue to make them!
I succumbed to Pat McGrath Divine Rose 2 lure when it was rereleased. I LOVE pinks. But like you, it was the multichrome that hooked me. I saw Milly (Bad to the brow) do a comparison on the PMG trichrome and other brand multichromes, and I just went down a multichrome rabbit hole . I’ve heard SO many complaints about PMG customerservice and shipping I was very nervous about ordering from the US. Let’s hope it arrives on time and in tact. BTW- I still use the Ela sponges you sent me! I love how soft they are. 😘🥰
I hope your palette gets to you in tact! I've sadly had a handful of bad experiences with their customer service so hope there are no issues for you. I saw Milly's video too and eventually want to try the Clionadh ones but they're currently on preorder and apparently that makes it'll take up to 4 months 🤯 Also, i'm so glad you've been enjoying the Ela sponges- they're the best and a great aussie brand to support 💕
Lol.. I think there's only 2 of those glitterbaby shades available in Australia that I don't have! Anyway I've been loving the looks you've created with divine 2. I just checked the PML website and the pink limited edition packaging is gone so I might wait on it. I have a suspicion she'll restock it 😋
I'm not on an intentional no/low-buy, but I haven't purchased anything in 2020, except replacements. I might get some Lethal Cosmetics shadows for my birthday, Mainframe (cranberry shimmer) from the new collection is definitely on my list, as well as Mirage, Descent and Rocket Fuel (mint, lavender, midtoned silver) from previous collections. I also want to repurchase Backdraft and Nymph which I nearly finished (I use them as blush/highlighter)
I like the look of the new Lethal Cosmetics collection - the 90s aesthetic is totally up my alley! Amazing that you've nearly finished at the blush and highlighter - those products take ages to use up. Also good job on the unintentional no buy/low buy. I'd like that to be my norm!!
Thank you for your comments, I totally agree with you. I feel the same about makeup purchases. I'm on a low-buy, meaning I can buy what is needed. Currently, I don't need anything except for setting spray. Elf has/had their 60% summer sale, and most of it didn't interest me but I got their mist & set spray, Hydrating Coconut Spray, Holy moisturizer, a sponge, and two of the prime-infused shimmering blushes.
I'm interested in the new Lethal Cosmetics eyeshadows but I'm also kind of on a low/no buy. I definitely want to be even more mindful of my purchases and as you said about those one palette fits all type of products, is just making me feel, eh. For future purchases, I will definitely think twice about the product and the brand... I like the way multi-chrome eyeshadows swatch but I heard several times it's just not enough space on the eyelids, hence why they don't look super dimensional? Oh and you look so elegant! I love your hair :)
Ooh I think the new Lethal Cosmetics collection is fun - love the 90s theme and I'd be keen to try their new gel liners but don't know how much use I'd get out of them.. probably not much so it'll probably pass on those. I think you're right about multi-chromes. As someone with a small eyelid space the effect would probably be quite minimal compared to someone with larger eyelids. Thank you so much
I have been on a no buy too. I have repurchased skincare that I have used up, but no makeup. I love eyeshadow and lipstick but the no buy has been great to make me stop and think, no I don’t need it. However, I saw the swatches of the new Natasha Denona Bronze palette and it looks beautiful! I don’t have any Natasha Denona products and they are ridiculously expensive in Aus, so it is unlikely to join my collection, but it is tempting!
Great to hear that you are using what you have already! It's so satisfying to use things up 😊 Also just saw the ND bronze palette- looks pretty, something I'd probably use although the ratio of shimmer to mattes are a bit too high for my personal preference. The cheek palette I wish she had release more shades - she advertised it as universal :-/ I have her cheek palette which I like but I don't reach for any often as I prefer my Suqqu ones. It takes ages to pan also so I haven't bought a cheek palette in ages!
Loved the video! I've found that ever since lockdown I've been focusing on using what I have and not buying lots of new things. I've panned a loose powder I thought I hated and halfway through realised I quite liked it, and have almost panned a pressed powder which was limited edition so I hadn't really touched it before (which is silly, makeup expires!). I've also panned an eye primer and mascara as well as lots of skincare I was just ignoring. I sold several palettes on ebay I've barely used as I know they'd just be taking up space and I've tried to evaluate what I like about products and what my preferences are going forward. I've realised I'd rather spend more money on one product I'd get a lot of use out of than buying several others 'just to try'. I ended up buying the ND Green/Brown palette which I'd had my eye on for ages (literally years) and managed to get it at 25% off! I'm loving the palette so far and haven't stopped using it since I bought it last month. I love the quality and shades (my favourite 'night out' eyeshadow colour is green and my 'everyday' colour is brown) and know I'll get a lot of use out it it compared to my previously colourful palettes I would buy but then never really wear. Especially pink palettes, I had 4 and I hate how pinks look on my so what was I thinking? I think it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new release without really thinking about if we'd use it. I'm not planning to buy anymore palettes until I've used the Green/Brown over 150 times as I don't want to just go from palette to palette. It's now the only big palette I own and the other 3 are minis with 6 shades or less so my collection feel manageable but still versatile enough not to get bored. Lockdown has been really hard in a lot of ways but it's also made me re-evaluate what I'm really looking for and what I'm going to use. I love watching your videos as I think you always have an interesting and thoughtful perspective and you also strike a great balance by still enjoying and being interested in new makeup while still being mindful of your collection and what your personal tastes are.
It's good to hear you've been using up a lot of what you already have. I've actually filled up my Terracycle box with all my empties and need to take it to the post office some point soon.. but was thinking of doing an empties video before that. That video would probably end up being half an hour long though.. so much trash! I'm still debating it. Glad to hear you're enjoying the 28 green/brown palette. I used it recently and remembered why I used to reach for it a lot. Also, I totally relate to how you feel regarding re-evaluating your consumption of products. I tend now to only buy skincare/makeup when I'm just about to run out (I don't really do backups anymore). Thank you
I was loving on your eye look and when I checked to see what you’re wearing...I have BOTH palettes! I never pull out Violet in because it’s just too purple but paired with a warm matte...I’m going to have to try it!
Nice one!! You should totally give it a go. Basically I mix the yellow and orange into the crease, the dark brown in the outer v then pat iron grip on the centre of the mobile lid then jelly fish next to that closer to the inner corner and voila! I think the trick for me is not to take the colour up too high otherwise it can start to look a bit too much for my preference!
Thank you, Melissa for speaking on BLM and the issues happening in Australia as well; I appreciate you. Girl, I tried a no buy and it went out the door. Many of the items I wanted for years, went on sale this year due to low profits. I don’t think low buys work for me. I think through my purchases and only buy when there is a sale so by then I usually know if I want the product still. I also use Temptalia‘s tools to check for dupes in my collection. I also do not buy just because there is a sale, just when an item I want goes on sale. I have learned 9/10, you can wait to get makeup on sale and rarely should you rush out to get things unless you have a giftcard or something. Not to enable, but Mothership VIII is amazing the formula is even better than her previous palettes. I was wondering out of the original 3 which one do you use the most? Mothership I is the only large one I don’t own.
I am so terrified by losing smth in the mail that I haven't sent/received anything since March. It is wonderful to feel in control and I am cautious to end my impromptu no buy. I want some single shadows from Clionadh's woodlands collection and Ultraviolet palette from Urban Decay is so pretty.
I know what you mean. I sent something to UK a couple of weeks ago and it looks like it's arrived but being held (quarantine period?). Hopefully it gets to the receiver safely soon but yes lots of delays which is why I've tried to buy locally - plus it's good for the local economy anyway! Being in control at a time like this is good, keep at it ;-)
I agree that pinks are totally not my color. I adore my Divine Rose 1 palette but I was bummed to see Divine Rose II as Pat’s next release. I feel like I already have so many of her gold and pink shimmers, its not worth it to spend so much for just one interesting shade.
Agree - so many of her shades look way too similar. On the eyelids you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I say go for the one that speaks to you the most, that you'd reach for the most frequently and stick to that - we don't need to collect them all!
With the Kosas liquid eyeshadow have you tried putting the tube in warm water to move the product from the sides to the bottom? Works with lip gloss so I’m wondering if it might work with this...
You have my same list. I'm trying to reduce my makeup purchases and I'm doing quite well, also because I'm not interested in most of the releases. - Victoria Beckham: I placed an order on Easter. The prices of the items included VAT. I accepted that because I wouldn't have problems with customs. Unfortunately, despite the increased price I paid, my package was stuck in customs and they asked me extra 40euros to release it. I refused, so bye Victoria. - Pat McGrath Mothership VIII. She managed to sell a palette with THREE golds as special shades! I can't stand anymore the false scarcity she creates. She should have done this palette directly with a pink packaging, it was apparent that everybody would have gone for that version... I placed an order at Clionadh instead. Same money for all multichromes! Yes the texture is different, but Pat doesn't deserve my hard earned money at the moment. - Suqqu. I wanted the palette 132 but it was sold out when I started to be interested in it. I refuse to pay double the price to get it imported from Japan. I have plenty of Suqqu quads I purchased because of FOMO, so I don't think it's worth blindly buying, but when you make up your mind and decide to purchase is too late. So apparently this brand doesn't want my money either. Other items I considered: the latest Melt palette(waiting for a discount on it since I only want a few shades in it), Charlotte Tilbury new bronzer (too yellow), Hermes orange boîte matte 33 (I know I won't wear it, so why spending so much? Better buying a scarf), JD Glow Galaxy Shadows (maybe with a sale, because last time I paid more than double the prices because of customs). Moreover, I regret spending so much time at looking for makeup releases. It's such a waste of time for something that will become old quite soon.. I'm kind of settled with a few makeup items now and I'm trying to steer my interests into personal growth and more valuable hobbies...
I forgot to mention By Terry. I love their expert compacts (the circular ones with 2 colors in concentric circles) but I don't like at all these rose compacts that were released as singles last year. Nothing special in terms of powder texture. I decluttered the bronze one, that appears in this year's palette too. So when I saw this year's palette I wasn't interested at all. I much preferred the zig-zag palettes of some years ago, although it was so difficult to pick just 1 shade, but the quality was much better.
Oh I'm so sorry to hear about the customs with Victoria Beckham! That's crazy that you could be charged twice. I agree regarding PML - too many similar shades and I've had bad experiences ordering from her website that I would prefer to go through Selfridges but I'd want the pink packaging. I hope you enjoy the Clionadh ones. I still haven't pulled the trigger but they'd be my first choice if I wanted to try a multichrome eyeshadow based on all the comparisons I've seen. Regarding focussing less on makeup releases - I agree with you on that. I feel I'm getting a bit bored with makeup releases. I still enjoy playing with makeup but I don't need anything new in order to try a new colour combo, technique or trend! Lately I've been watching less and doing/listening more like practising piano every day and listening to audio books. It keeps my brain active without straining my eyes 🙈
Many of the things you have on your list are not limited. Divine rose 2 in regular packaging is not limited. I will have to say it is a really beautiful palette. I have created fun looks but also very work appropriate looks. I finally broke down on the Victoria Beckham brand....I got a quad a lip liner and an eyeliner. They are fabulous. I see me getting more. But there is no hype because it is not limited. You get it when you do. I want the blue palette and the blue cream shadow. I have not tried the Kosas liquid shadow. I am going to have to try it! I just bought my first suqqu blush. I need to learn about it. Was looking at your previous videos because I want to get more from the brand. The By Terry palette is spectacular! Love it! I got it when it first came out. I think that Americans really do not know about the sad history about aborigines. I wish we had better education. I appreciate your thoughtful discussion. 🤗😘😎
That's true! I'm glad most of the things I want are not limited edition although I would have loved the Divine Rose 2 in the pink packaging. I have to say sometimes I do feel relieved when things are sold out as it makes my purchasing decision for me lol. Very happy to hear you're enjoying the new palette as well as the Victoria Beckham makeup. I hope you like the new Suqqu blush too and get to try more in future. They're probably my favourite brand! And yes, we definitely need to teach our future generations about history including indigenous people - no sugar coating and more transparency.
The divine rose 2 is a want not a need for me. That price tag is too much. I have taken a break from buying until Sailor Moon palette had restock and I got it. People are crazy trying to sell it on the second hand market. You always look pretty, but you really look snatched (as the kids say these days. I have been told this is a compliment) in this video. Now as for books. I have been buying way too much.
I agree. It's one of those palettes I'd be happy to have but couldn't part with the money to buy it myself given how little I'd probably use it. The Sailor Moon palette looks very pretty - love the colour story (and theme!). Haven't made a Colourpop order in a very long time myself but I do enjoy the ones I have. Hehe "snatched"!! Thank you!! What have you been reading lately? I've also been buying books (audiobooks). Listening to 'Where The Crawdads Sing' at the moment.
You must look at Clyonah Cosmetics. They have a stained glass collection that is stunning!!! ( I haven’t got a notification from you in forever) UTube is slaking..You look beautiful!!! I hope you and your family stay safe and heathy though these scary times.. ( Pinks are my favourite colours in clothing and make up) 💖
I've been eyeing the stained glass collection for the longest time but always sold out 😭 Maybe one day once the hype has died down and our exchange rate has recovered a little bit. To be fair I haven't been posting as often as I usually do. I have 3 or 4 filmed videos I just haven't gotten to edit yet. Thanks for your patience!! I'll try my best 😚💕 take care too!
I am like your Sister. I let the products sautee in my mind before I open my wallet. Now if my self control was half as good when it comes to food, glorious food! ; ) Definitely support organizations which are important to you. (Who doesn't have a past that falls short?) But I finally just looked up who is BLM. I found out things which unsettle me and highly suggest all others do their homework before giving to any cause. Knowledge is golden, yes?!
That's probably where I spend the most amount of money on - food!! Haha I live to eat.. There's lots of great charities and organisations working for the black and indigenous communities. I've listed a few on my instagram. Which ones are you talking about?
@@melissagold2559 Our restaurants are open for outside dining now. They are packed! That makes me happy for the business owners. There's a youtube channel, The Domestic Geek; she offers good recipes. I researched the B L M group. I do not care for them. Reminds me how Green Peace got a bit wild for those who truly wanted to protect wildlife. So many posters are hung up on fences of this b l m group, and their name is drawn onto buildings, etc. I see it as promoting this group. I wish people would write something positive and to promote positive action. From what I have read, the letters BLM and the words "black lives matter" connotate the opposite of unity. And that's not we want.
Tbh the multichrome in the Divine Rose II is nothing special. Actually the PML formula is just so so. I just don't love her eyeshadow and for the life of me I don't get why everyone raves about it. There are far more better brands available lux, indie and otherwise. PML is just wah wah to me
I'm glad you mentioned indigenous people when talking about discrimination/racism. Similar things were done to Native Americans in the US, but it is swept under the rug and no one talks about it!

I think I like your makeup looks more than anyone else’s I see. Every color is just so! I’ve been on a no-buy until I see what Sydney Grace has in store for next month.
Aww thank you so much 😭😭 that's seriously high praise! That reminds me I need to reach for my Sydney Grace co singles sometime soon! 💕

I hope so too 🖤

The Glitter baby in gold is in stock in America! You could probably get someone to ship you one 😉
If you're still tempted to buy the PMG palette only for the multichrome, go check out clionadh forge and save yourselr 115$ !

With the Kosas liquid eyeshadow have you tried putting the tube in warm water to move the product from the sides to the bottom? Works with lip gloss so I’m wondering if it might work with this...
This is a genius idea. Thank you! I'm going to try that!! 😚
@@clidrevandijk good to know! I remember eyeing those zigzag palettes too last year but i had far too many cheek palettes to justify it.
I’d love to try the Smith & Cult liquid shadows but they don’t ship to the U.K. :(
That's a pity 😥 I'm not sure if Revolve ships those products to the UK but that's where I got a few of mine!
@@melissagold2559 let me know how the book is. I heard there is some romance in it, which I love. I am reading the guest list by Lucy Foley.
@@melissagold2559 Clionadh Stained Glass is on preorder now. The problem is the looooong processing time (4 months seems the average now)
@@clidrevandijk 4 months?!! 🤯🤯 wow..
I am like your Sister. I let the products sautee in my mind before I open my wallet. Now if my self control was half as good when it comes to food, glorious food! ; )
Definitely support organizations which are important to you.
PML is just wah wah to me
What are your favorite brands for eyeshadows?
