  • The Apprentice is a scathing takedown of America’s most controversial public figure, Donald Trump. Sebastian Stan nails his performance as Trump in a way not many thought possible.

Excellent Review! I agree with all of your points! This film - and the performances by the actors - surpassed my expectations (and they were already very high!). SEE IT.

Thanks for the in-depth review. I wasn’t planning on seeing it because I thought the actor playing Trump was going to be over the top or cartoonish, but it definitely sounds like it’s worth watching. Thanks for the honest review!

      It’s absolutely worth seeing.
Also check out the recent indie film A Different Man! Sebastian Stan is fantastic in that too, and it’s such a different character than this one.
In that movie, he plays a man with a disfiguring facial tumor condition, who goes on to get an experimental medication that heals his face - but ruins his life. Stan plays the disfigured main character using prosthetics, and plays the post-surgery character with his own face. His costar, on the other hand, actually has the condition irl. The two men did some interviews/press stuff together about the movie, very powerful stuff. Sebastian Stan seems like a really great guy.
However, I found myself conflicted about one thing with the Trump movie…I’ve never ever in ANY way found myself remotely attracted to Trump, yet Sebastian Stan added his lil special sauce and I felt my heart stir a bit 😂

So.....from my understanding.....it sounds like this movie is trying to say: ........Orange Man Bad????

@@slimnave4846 I mean it’s very critical of him obviously, but it’s more nuanced than that imo. It’s not like they portray him as the devil. Plus it’s just fun to see the performances and the history behind his rise to prominence.

“The media is out to get Trump” “orange man bad” “fight, fight, fight”🤓

I actually found it quite humanizing. It’s definitely not “orange man bad!!!” It’s “look at this human - with all of his good qualities, flaws, doubts, insecurities, and daddy issues - and watch how he grows, develops, and in many ways is corrupted by power and money, as most humans are wont to be.”
Like, even if you love the guy and/or think he’s a great president, he’s simply NOT a very good person, especially in his personal life. Same can be said of many politicians, celebrities, and even everyday people.

It’s about his life before he went orange

@@offtheshelfET Honestly. Go read up on his history. I am old to enough to remember what a joke he was back in the day. We understood how he got voted in the first time. People thought he might actually be better. He was promising things instead of dodging every question like politicians do. I got laughed at by a young uni student when I said I think he will win. The problem is that people are still holding onto that hope that he might be better than the average politician even though he shown time and time again that he is for nothing but himself and spews lies constantly. He is not for the average person, he despises them. He hates them and would burn them all if it helps his sense of importance.
