idk why anyone accepts the "this only affects 10% of our use base". That's a gigantic amount of people. Specifically the people that make money, which is what most of the other 90% aspire to be.
Back when WOTC tried to screw party Devs in January a lot of WOTC defenders tried that argument. But, the issue of changing a licence deal and making it some form of retroactive is simply not acceptable behaviour.
beyond the broken trust.. another issue is that it makes it impossible to predict finances in the future.. sure.. if you keep releasing a bunch of games that doesn't trigger the charges then no problem but THEN you have a breakout success.. suddenly you're on the hook for a lot of things you never saw coming.. (also, you sound danish)
Bruv it must suck that you spent a large sum of money especially in this kind of economy, i hope you find a way forward that will be help you grow your games studio
Well there is some feedback coming from the "insiders" now, that there is some hope, hopefully enough to restore our trust. Having an unstable business partner is not what I signed up for.
months to do this in Unreal?!! more like a week give or take?
Lol.
I started off with unity because it uses c# and its also very easy to learn, but what they are doing now is starting to make me question my decision

One of the most well said comments derived from this situation
Precisely! "This will only affect you if you're successful." - What a brilliant message to send to your customers!

Already started moving over to unreal bro and dabbling in Godot
Yep, downloaded unreal this morning, will probably spend some time fiddling tomorrow!

For sure, unpredictability is not what you want in a company you’re investing your future in.

Ah thanks for your kind words, but it’s okay, I’ll make it work!
So will u continue ur game?
Yes 100%, I absolutely will.
i switched to UE5 even though I know c++ is more difficult to learn
C++ isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be, you’ve got this.
I'm in a very similar boat as you. Even with investments in Unity ecosystem, I have a very bitter taste in my mouth continuing to use it

It is man. It's a very stressful time lol.
