I have had a new Mazda CX-30 for a couple of months now and am in love with the gearbox, the driving experience and the fantastically upmarket feel of the interior. Mazda really does things differently. And in a very good way.
Mazda cars are fun to drive,high quality fit and finish and built quality ,nice designs and have good engines and very good automatic transmission. Much better then most brands ..
Still they sell less cuz they are not exciting as such and honestly don't look that good, I know it's good that they stick to their roots unlike most new Germans but still they are boring and lack character. Feel outdated
@@Carwithoutengine, they don’t look as good as what? 😃 The current Mazda 3 generation got the best design award in 2020, it definitely looks much better than most of its rivals, including VW Golf and Audi A3.
@@mihainicolae8141 its a shame that to achieve that design you sacrifice any decent rear visibility, trunk space and rear passenger space. Seats are also rough to say the least. It's a shame they're the only ones still producing charming powertrains with gearboxes that don't feel like mixing cement.
I got this car a month ago, slightly lower trim line. (no 360 view, no automatic trunk closing and similar things I can live without). Even with touch screen on Android Auto, I prefer to use the knob. One of the decision point to buy this car was to avoid touch screen. Don't get me wrong, I work for 10 years as software developer, I love tech and good stuff. Problem is, most touch screens are shit and I hate it when they lag or stutter. I keep warning sounds ON because it tells me when I am going over the speed limit. Mazda does not recommend use cruise control in crowded places or towns with often start stop movement but rather highways. Yeah, I read car manuals. When it comes to leg room, I am 185cm tall. Most people I drove in the back, had no complaints about leg room but it does kind of depend on the height of people in the front and seat adjustment. "Origami" thing in the back is meant to help out sorting out things better and it also has functionality in keeping larger things steady and in place (depending how you place it), and I like it. I got average 6.9l / 100km consumption in combined highway / city drive. Mazda has focus on driving experience and that experience is very good. I have to say this extremely good review. Everything is spot on.
This is how cars should look like. "Normal" lights, normal speedometer and tachometer, normal buttons, manual gearbox. And of course, affordable price. We are not asking for more.
The front is beautiful and I love every inch of the interior, from the door panels, to the instrument cluster, to the dashboard, to the center console, the packaging of the back seats and the entire cabin, the feel of the driver, everything is beautifully done, with no flaws. I don't know when was the last time when I was absolutely satisfied with the entire interior layout.
Absolutely true! The interior and finishing details completely won me over, simple, elegant, and with materials that outclass the competition at this price point. I was deciding between the Audi A3 and Mazda 3, but Mazda’s quality tipped the scales. Unlike others in the segment, which often have hard plastic on the rear doors, Mazda keeps the same high quality as the front, complete with leather accents. Even the base model is loaded with features, including a head-up display, something few offer without an extra charge. My only gripe is that it’s a bit stiff for our Balkan roads, but it’s a real joy to handle on winding, open roads.
this is not outdated, this is how cars should be. no gimmicks! it's a tool, not a toy. usability, reliability, safety and comfort should be the goal, not fancy gimmicks. i feel that this is what the german car industry has lost, in their pursuit to be "fancy" and "fun". i've recently rented a 2024 vw golf, and while the driving experience was great (diesel, automatic), trying to interact with the "infotainment" was abysmal. no though put into it whatsoever. at least i had physical buttons on the steering wheel. i'm not saying mazda is perfect, but it seems to me that the japanese car makers don't want to compete in the gimmicks market, unlike european and american manufacturers
I own CX-30 with 2.5 turbo engine in Premium trim for about a year so far and I wanna say that its one of the best cars on the market in terms of fun, interior, value and options. Gorgeous car with a lot of torque (434nm) and the best audio system in the class. Comfort is exceptional on an aftermarket Michelin Cross Climate tires. Noise isolation is on the level of premium German brands. Well done, Mazda! Now im considering to buy an ND3 Miata as the second car.
have this engine , NA, 187hp (I think) in my 2024 CX-50 (CX-30 is too small for the German Shepherd Dog) Premium (cloth seats, heated seats, wireless carplay, moon roof, 17 inch beefy tire) in USA, great vehicle, zero issues to far. Part of our decision was exactly like Thomas mentioned at the end, we liked the simpler, cleaner design inside in particular, not super busy with oversized screens and ridiculous over-styling, simple, comfortable, reliable, great purchase opportunities (in USA), good gas mileage...In one review a comment said 'screen way too small for $35K' - do you buy a vehicle for the screen?
Looks like a normal solid traditional car. Real gauges, real buttons, real clima control, ok interior materials - rather than 5 tablets for driver + 2 tablets for passenger + capacitive #BS buttons everywhere:) is it so hard for other manufacturers to stop this tablet mania ?
It really has a very elegant design. You truly appreciate it especially if you drive fugly garbage like KIA or WV and then immediately sit into CX30 afterwards. CX30 is just so much more nicer place to be.

I’ve just bought a 2025 Mazda CX-30 in the ‘Exclusive Line’ trim level with the 12-speaker Bose audio system. I chose the color Deep Crystal Blue, which I love. I have chosen the manual transmission, because Mazda makes fantastic manual transmissions that are so fun to drive. 😊 I will get the car next week. Can’t wait to get it and drive it and turn up the Bose audio system. 😎👍🏻 I live in Denmark. 🇩🇰

Totally agree. The German car industry's innovation in recent years has been limited to some gimmicks with lights. And now they are outraged because VW needs to reorganise.

7:48 the arm rest mechanism is designed like that for ergonomic reasons. Since it is long, if you had to open it without sliding it backwards it would swing very high hence making it uncomfortable on your shoulder. With this slide then lift mechanism you don't have to raise your arm too much, so it's more ergonomic.
Great review Thomas and Leah. I love the old school dials and knobs and you can easily turn off the boings that car manufacturers have to follow legislation. Higher displacement means the engine won’t be thrashed so will mean a longer life. The fact you can use the dial instead of touch screen will mean eyes on the road as opposed to fiddling around on a touch screen and now the option of using Alexa voice command. I like the fact Mazda are taking a unique approach (but they do not need animal skin options). Great review again Thomas and team. Keep up the great work.
Great review once again Thomas! Always a pleasure to get your take on vehicles. I purchased the red one (2.5L) for my kids to learn to drive on a couple of years ago in the US but couldn't get the manual. The nice things about Mazda's that I have found, is many of the helpful safety features (lane keep, and change assist etc) come as standard in the lower models, and help new drivers especially. Other companies charge you more for all the extra options but Mazda does not until you go higher up in the range. Yes, I also find the smaller Mazda's fun to drive, and have had a few in my time. Great work as usual mate! Agreed, hubraum ist durch nichts zu ersetzen. (not sure if that was right) Cheers.
A hybrid and 190hp+ could make a really not only fan but a very good car that can compliment the steering and the gearbox.Mazda is on fire it just need a little umph
My 2017 was in for a service yesterday & I had a good look at the CX 30 interior in the showroom which is as good as any other vehicle in this class. Machine Grey mitigates the contrast of the black arches which I'm not that keen on and it looks good on the 18" wheels - a quick call out to Toyo who make great tyres. So for me that just leaves engine choice. In terms of usable power I think the torque of the 2.5 could shade it, how many times do you really need to scream from 0-60? The 2.5 will feel more refined all around to the 2.0 and will IMO be a better all round option.
2.5L 140 HP is a joke. most likely artificially limited torque after 4000prm, kind of small turbo ICE torque curve specs, I can understand cx-3 2.0 120HP for FDW and 150HP for AWD to ensure AWD is quicker 0-100. but 2.5 for 140HP is beyond my understanding.
@@aka7kak8 The 2.5L Mazda CX-30 normally makes 140kW/187hp in the Euro 5 version sold in Australia, but the EU version is detuned to meet Euro 6E emissions. 🙂
@DS-pk4eh , i just happen to own cx-3 2.0L 120 hp. And I saw its torque curve over revs range. It is all normal until 4000 rpm and then drops rapidly, thus max power is reached sooner and lower value. In real life, driving this is very much disturbing during overtakes, quickly passes 4000, high noise low acceleration. But engine should feel better as max revs mode less stressed. All in all, such tuning is likely to be artificial for marketing needs. Or just a strange way to balance out engine production with demand.
@TassieLorenzo emissions argument seems not applicable as for other mazda models with same engine displasment but normal power specs emissions figures also ok
Had mazda3 bm, now bmw 3er g21, can't say its more ergonomic, mazda is really good in interior especially for 2014. Hello from Saint Petersburg, Thomas. And also sreering is the same sharp. Mazda is top for its money.
this 2.5 can be tuned to 205hp / 270nm easy. I would go for d-luft software, they also offer accelerator pedal tuning. You can even do it from home! I've done my skyactig G 2.0 and now it's making 175hp / 225nm and is even more fuel efficient then stock.
@@pakoottox262 I doubt that they will check core ECU values when you are in a crash. And that's why i advice you to get the D-luft @ home software. You get a OBD plug and can do it yourself with a laptop. For what ever reason you want to revert back to stock ECU settings you can.
Well done Mazda, Lea and Thomas. Fantastic 'old skool' car given the full Autogefuehl polish. A total animal-skin free interior would be the icing on the cake for me. Come on Mr Mazda! Quality cars with brilliant reliability, imo.

Great video as always. I had the smaller CX-3 up until a month ago (really enjoyed it) and will be going with the CX-30 next since the CX-3 isn't available in Canada anymore. Interesting to see the CX-30 is offered as a FWD model since they're only available as AWD on the continent is my understanding, but at least you can use yours to tow offiically. As for the lights, while I do think the lower ones would be better next to the headlights, I don't think it's that bad since the mirrors have turn signals that you can see from the front and sides. I like that Mazda still has buttons and doesn't require going through a billion screens to just do something simple like turn on the a/c.

The indicator lights are too low down like the new Toyota Fortuner. The other day there was one behind me and had no idea it was turning because you couldn't see it.
@goncalotr Still, a smaller displacement engine pushing out more power is always more stressed. Maybe it's sturdier built with stronger components - time will tell.
I drive a bigger Mazda so this was of interest to me, thank you. I like Mazda as a brand for the slight eccentricity which this car has. I also like the fact that once you have driven one Mazda you can drive them all - the UI/UX was instantly familiar. A small stick shift 2.5ltr car is just so unlike anything else you can buy and you have to admire it. I think the pricing is not competitive especially at the top spec. I must be one of the very few people who like the MX30 R EV as a second car so I like Mazda’s view of what a car should be.
The US has always got larger engines than Europe, the Americans have been able to buy 3.0l plus V6’s and large 2.5l 4 cylinders in cars where we only got 2.0 or even 1.6 and down turbos, engines that are really short lived…
Wild that you get a manual transmission but not the 2.5L Turbo. The (USA)Turbo version of this car is really great, although getting old. I lived with one as a rental and found it to be loads of fun. The interior quality feels a cut above the rest. I wonder why Europe doesn’t get the 250 hp Turbo? The torque is immediate (no turbo lag) and does 5.8-second zero-to-60-mph.
Mazda was always known for their smooth engines and manual transmission. But, knowing that there are so many 2.0L engines with 230+ HP (with turbos of course), that are also so refined now, that I am not sure how this engine competes with them?
EU emission policies, unfortunately Mazda aren't allowed the get out clauses of some other manufacturers. The 2.5l turbo would be a huge success in Germany especially 😢
i love the matte cladding, or cladding in general, looks fun and sporty. i dont like the gloss cladding, it looks tacky and lame. this car is really cool !!!!

I’m so old they hadn’t even built the “old school”! This is my kind of car. However, is it coming to the USA? During my recent trip to Italy I saw a few sedans and small utility vehicles that I’d love to see in my driveway. Sadly there’s no joy on potential of export to North America. I am a believer in more cubes equals a happier driver. Great review as always!!!
I was excited when the rumors started that CX30 will get the 2.5l in Europe but that is just sad. 140HP from the 2.5l? What were they thinking? The current Skyactive G 2.0L has 20HP more than this and makes top speed of 260km. I was thinking that this will be the "performance" engine in the lineup but was I wrong.
I'm always shocked that Mazda Germany never checks the material between the back seats and the boot when giving out press cars. You can actually press the material into place and over time it acts like an iron that keeps the material looking neat and tidy. Off course I totally agree that they should come up with a better solution especially for the the CX5, CX60 and CX80😊
It is quite possible that they also haven't checked tyre pressures. I had mine delivered with 4 bar (not adjusted after transportation although PDI check list clearly has such point). This may have been the reason why Tomas had such a significant bang while driving over smth on the road. Normally, CX-30 is not that crashy even on big potholes
@viliukas15 I heartily agree. I'm a big Mazda fan but the way Mazda deliver their new cars leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not sure how it is with Premium Brands but if Mazda aspire to be premier then their dealer network need to aspire to that level to. Having said that, apart from delivery, my dealer experience with Mazda has been excellent 👌
Thats very detuned engine. 140hp on 2.5l Skyactiv-g that normally produces 187-194hp depending of the year, model, country. I guess they detuned engine to comply with new european emissions limits. This 140hp is even less amount of power than the Skyactiv-g 2.0 that produces up to 165 hp(excluding ND2 MX-5/Miata 184hp) depending of the year, model, country. I believe because of this reduced amount of power this 140hp 2.5l Skyactiv-G probably could last 500000km or longer with good maintenance unless they weakened internal parts of the engine.
@@sigstroo same with mine. Got 143hp on my 1.5 ND2 on the dyno. I guarrantee you this 2.5 will probably have over 150hp on the dyno, just like the old 120hp mazda 3 had closer to 140hp. Mazda underrates them and uses software locks to limit how much the throttle opens above 4000rpm. The MX-5 has no software limit.
Looks like a typical Mazda which isn’t bad. Yes, the turn signals are a bit too low. Not sure if that will fly in the US market. The only other thing I motice is why Mazda loves the Ipad stuck on design wayyyy up on the dash. It’s bizarre that they don’t want you to have touch screen.
Touch screens in cars are a gimmick, also that control wheel is much faster and smoother to use. Plus, their climate controls are physical buttons (the way they should be).
The same is in the US market. And frankly, turning indicators were placed as low also on previous gen of Mazda3. Nobody complained, so there should be nothing to worry about.
@@slav_K0 have you tried to enter the address using the control wheel? How long did it take? It is so inconvenient that I usually use MyMazda app to send the destination in case I use the inbuild satnav system. Touchscreen in previous Mazdas was much more convenient
In Poland we have to pay 18,6% additional tax (instead of 3,1%) for cars with engines that are above 2L. This 2.5L version will be very expensive, especially taking into account second highest in EU VAT tax - 23%.
Higher displacement means higher tax, higher insurance cost, higher consumption at least in city. Weirdly the top speed is around 180kmph for a 2,5l engine.

i have the 2.5l gas Mazda 6 2018 model with ~190hp... similar displacement engine here is 140hp? Mazda is ... weird. Nice, comfy etc, but still, weird.
I have a mazda 3 2022 which is virtually the same as the cx30 and its already on its 3rd 12v battery only done 25000 miles no short journeys and always turn off the istop. If you go on owners forums for the 3 and cx30 you will see its a common problem that the clueless main dealers do not have a fix for. Joke manufacturer.
These engines need a turbo. I've driven cx-5 for a year with the 2.5 and honestly, it felt very slow, felt slower than my 1.5T 150hp golf. Ferrari can produce 830hp from 3 times larger NA engine, which is is ~70hp per cylinder of 0.54L displacement per cylinder, while this Mazda has 35hp per cylinder of 0.625L, so it's actually more displacement per cylinder, but the hp is halved. In other words, while great that we still have NA engines, this engine is extremely underpowered.

Their paint job protection is very fragile. Other than that, solid cars.
Well agree for most part but the CX60 rides harshly compared to its German competitors, so does the US CX90

This is why I love Mazda. Not offering exactly the same as all the others! It still looks great inside and out after 5 years. Big fans of manuals

I'm on my 2nd Mazda. The first I had for 12yrs. Never a problem. This one I've had for 4 yrs. Never a problem.

I'm picking mine up tomorrow, unfortunately the manual isn't available here in Canada, but they have a decent 6 speed auto with a lock up clutch.

I’ve just bought a 2025 Mazda CX-30 in the ‘Exclusive Line’ trim level with the 12-speaker Bose audio system. I chose the color Deep Crystal Blue, which I love. I have chosen the manual transmission, because Mazda makes fantastic manual transmissions that are so fun to drive. 😊 I will get the car next week. Can’t wait to get it and drive it and turn up the Bose audio system. 😎👍🏻 I live in Denmark. 🇩🇰

i think the torque curve spread is better in bigger displacement, 2,5.
Test drove a mazda 3 manual recently. Can confirm the gearbox was just an absolute pleasure, would not get an automatic over it.
Drive one in bumper to bumper urban commute. Your clutch leg will beg for an auto.
7:48 the arm rest mechanism is designed like that for ergonomic reasons. Since it is long, if you had to open it without sliding it backwards it would swing very high hence making it uncomfortable on your shoulder. With this slide then lift mechanism you don't have to raise your arm too much, so it's more ergonomic.
Great review Thomas and Leah. I love the old school dials and knobs and you can easily turn off the boings that car manufacturers have to follow legislation. Higher displacement means the engine won’t be thrashed so will mean a longer life. The fact you can use the dial instead of touch screen will mean eyes on the road as opposed to fiddling around on a touch screen and now the option of using Alexa voice command. I like the fact Mazda are taking a unique approach (but they do not need animal skin options). Great review again Thomas and team. Keep up the great work.

mid range revs indeed will be easy for 2.5L but most likely power limit is just in high revs region, not good for overtaking.
Great review once again Thomas! Always a pleasure to get your take on vehicles. I purchased the red one (2.5L) for my kids to learn to drive on a couple of years ago in the US but couldn't get the manual. The nice things about Mazda's that I have found, is many of the helpful safety features (lane keep, and change assist etc) come as standard in the lower models, and help new drivers especially. Other companies charge you more for all the extra options but Mazda does not until you go higher up in the range. Yes, I also find the smaller Mazda's fun to drive, and have had a few in my time. Great work as usual mate! Agreed, hubraum ist durch nichts zu ersetzen. (not sure if that was right) Cheers.

A hybrid and 190hp+ could make a really not only fan but a very good car that can compliment the steering and the gearbox.Mazda is on fire it just need a little umph

My 2017 was in for a service yesterday & I had a good look at the CX 30 interior in the showroom which is as good as any other vehicle in this class. Machine Grey mitigates the contrast of the black arches which I'm not that keen on and it looks good on the 18" wheels - a quick call out to Toyo who make great tyres.
So for me that just leaves engine choice. In terms of usable power I think the torque of the 2.5 could shade it, how many times do you really need to scream from 0-60? The 2.5 will feel more refined all around to the 2.0 and will IMO be a better all round option.
There is no replacement for displacement. So true!
And having optimal size for each class of vehicles.
2.5L 140 HP is a joke. most likely artificially limited torque after 4000prm, kind of small turbo ICE torque curve specs, I can understand cx-3 2.0 120HP for FDW and 150HP for AWD to ensure AWD is quicker 0-100. but 2.5 for 140HP is beyond my understanding.
@@aka7kak8 The 2.5L Mazda CX-30 normally makes 140kW/187hp in the Euro 5 version sold in Australia, but the EU version is detuned to meet Euro 6E emissions. 🙂

@DS-pk4eh , i just happen to own cx-3 2.0L 120 hp. And I saw its torque curve over revs range. It is all normal until 4000 rpm and then drops rapidly, thus max power is reached sooner and lower value. In real life, driving this is very much disturbing during overtakes, quickly passes 4000, high noise low acceleration. But engine should feel better as max revs mode less stressed. All in all, such tuning is likely to be artificial for marketing needs. Or just a strange way to balance out engine production with demand.

Had mazda3 bm, now bmw 3er g21, can't say its more ergonomic, mazda is really good in interior especially for 2014.

this 2.5 can be tuned to 205hp / 270nm easy. I would go for d-luft software, they also offer accelerator pedal tuning. You can even do it from home! I've done my skyactig G 2.0 and now it's making 175hp / 225nm and is even more fuel efficient then stock.
Yeah, I would love to do the same, but what about insurance issues in case of accident? And what about Mazda warranty?
@@pakoottox262 I doubt that they will check core ECU values when you are in a crash. And that's why i advice you to get the D-luft @ home software. You get a OBD plug and can do it yourself with a laptop. For what ever reason you want to revert back to stock ECU settings you can.

Great video as always. I had the smaller CX-3 up until a month ago (really enjoyed it) and will be going with the CX-30 next since the CX-3 isn't available in Canada anymore. Interesting to see the CX-30 is offered as a FWD model since they're only available as AWD on the continent is my understanding, but at least you can use yours to tow offiically.
As for the lights, while I do think the lower ones would be better next to the headlights, I don't think it's that bad since the mirrors have turn signals that you can see from the front and sides.
I like that Mazda still has buttons and doesn't require going through a billion screens to just do something simple like turn on the a/c.

The indicator lights are too low down like the new Toyota Fortuner. The other day there was one behind me and had no idea it was turning because you couldn't see it.

The 2.5 with 140hp is less stressed so theoretically should last longer. But not as cool if you like Turbo noises.

@goncalotr Still, a smaller displacement engine pushing out more power is always more stressed. Maybe it's sturdier built with stronger components - time will tell.

I drive a bigger Mazda so this was of interest to me, thank you.
I like Mazda as a brand for the slight eccentricity which this car has. I also like the fact that once you have driven one Mazda you can drive them all - the UI/UX was instantly familiar. A small stick shift 2.5ltr car is just so unlike anything else you can buy and you have to admire it. I think the pricing is not competitive especially at the top spec. I must be one of the very few people who like the MX30 R EV as a second car so I like Mazda’s view of what a car should be.
The US has always got larger engines than Europe, the Americans have been able to buy 3.0l plus V6’s and large 2.5l 4 cylinders in cars where we only got 2.0 or even 1.6 and down turbos, engines that are really short lived…
Wild that you get a manual transmission but not the 2.5L Turbo. The (USA)Turbo version of this car is really great, although getting old. I lived with one as a rental and found it to be loads of fun. The interior quality feels a cut above the rest. I wonder why Europe doesn’t get the 250 hp Turbo? The torque is immediate (no turbo lag) and does 5.8-second zero-to-60-mph.

Mazda was always known for their smooth engines and manual transmission.
But, knowing that there are so many 2.0L engines with 230+ HP (with turbos of course), that are also so refined now, that I am not sure how this engine competes with them?

EU emission policies, unfortunately Mazda aren't allowed the get out clauses of some other manufacturers. The 2.5l turbo would be a huge success in Germany especially 😢

I’m so old they hadn’t even built the “old school”! This is my kind of car. However, is it coming to the USA? During my recent trip to Italy I saw a few sedans and small utility vehicles that I’d love to see in my driveway. Sadly there’s no joy on potential of export to North America.

I was excited when the rumors started that CX30 will get the 2.5l in Europe but that is just sad. 140HP from the 2.5l? What were they thinking? The current Skyactive G 2.0L has 20HP more than this and makes top speed of 260km. I was thinking that this will be the "performance" engine in the lineup but was I wrong.

I'm always shocked that Mazda Germany never checks the material between the back seats and the boot when giving out press cars. You can actually press the material into place and over time it acts like an iron that keeps the material looking neat and tidy. Off course I totally agree that they should come up with a better solution especially for the the CX5, CX60 and CX80😊
It is quite possible that they also haven't checked tyre pressures. I had mine delivered with 4 bar (not adjusted after transportation although PDI check list clearly has such point). This may have been the reason why Tomas had such a significant bang while driving over smth on the road. Normally, CX-30 is not that crashy even on big potholes
@viliukas15 I heartily agree. I'm a big Mazda fan but the way Mazda deliver their new cars leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not sure how it is with Premium Brands but if Mazda aspire to be premier then their dealer network need to aspire to that level to. Having said that, apart from delivery, my dealer experience with Mazda has been excellent 👌

Thats very detuned engine. 140hp on 2.5l Skyactiv-g that normally produces 187-194hp depending of the year, model, country. I guess they detuned engine to comply with new european emissions limits. This 140hp is even less amount of power than the Skyactiv-g 2.0 that produces up to 165 hp(excluding ND2 MX-5/Miata 184hp) depending of the year, model, country. I believe because of this reduced amount of power this 140hp 2.5l Skyactiv-G probably could last 500000km or longer with good maintenance unless they weakened internal parts of the engine.
Can probably get it up to 180hp with just a simple software tune. Just like the old mazda 3 with 120hp that could be "unlocked" to 165 in software

I own Mazda mx5 1.5 SkyAcrive which is pushing 140hp from factory on the dyno 😂
@@sigstroo same with mine. Got 143hp on my 1.5 ND2 on the dyno. I guarrantee you this 2.5 will probably have over 150hp on the dyno, just like the old 120hp mazda 3 had closer to 140hp. Mazda underrates them and uses software locks to limit how much the throttle opens above 4000rpm. The MX-5 has no software limit.
@@PaulHojda Probably even up to 190hp if the stock detune was only done with software. If its also done with hardware then 180hp would be the limit.
Looks like a typical Mazda which isn’t bad. Yes, the turn signals are a bit too low. Not sure if that will fly in the US market. The only other thing I motice is why Mazda loves the Ipad stuck on design wayyyy up on the dash. It’s bizarre that they don’t want you to have touch screen.
Touch screens in cars are a gimmick, also that control wheel is much faster and smoother to use. Plus, their climate controls are physical buttons (the way they should be).

The same is in the US market. And frankly, turning indicators were placed as low also on previous gen of Mazda3. Nobody complained, so there should be nothing to worry about.
@@slav_K0 have you tried to enter the address using the control wheel? How long did it take? It is so inconvenient that I usually use MyMazda app to send the destination in case I use the inbuild satnav system. Touchscreen in previous Mazdas was much more convenient
The knob system is very easy to adjust to with daily driving. Touch screens get messy fast!
Having tested a few I could say the only car that is quieter, road noise, in this class is vw troc

In Poland we have to pay 18,6% additional tax (instead of 3,1%) for cars with engines that are above 2L. This 2.5L version will be very expensive, especially taking into account second highest in EU VAT tax - 23%.

Weirdly the top speed is around 180kmph for a 2,5l engine.

Most countries tax according to CO2 output, since this engine is pretty efficient tax difference isnt that big.
i have the 2.5l gas Mazda 6 2018 model with ~190hp... similar displacement engine here is 140hp? Mazda is ... weird. Nice, comfy etc, but still, weird.

I have a mazda 3 2022 which is virtually the same as the cx30 and its already on its 3rd 12v battery only done 25000 miles no short journeys and always turn off the istop. If you go on owners forums for the 3 and cx30 you will see its a common problem that the clueless main dealers do not have a fix for. Joke manufacturer.
I have owned two 3s and a CX-30. Never had to buy a battery.

These engines need a turbo. I've driven cx-5 for a year with the 2.5 and honestly, it felt very slow, felt slower than my 1.5T 150hp golf.
Ferrari can produce 830hp from 3 times larger NA engine, which is is ~70hp per cylinder of 0.54L displacement per cylinder, while this Mazda has 35hp per cylinder of 0.625L, so it's actually more displacement per cylinder, but the hp is halved.
In other words, while great that we still have NA engines, this engine is extremely underpowered.
Oh I want one.
