I greatly appreciate the inclusion of DLSS. Just for clarification, I would like to confirm it is DLSS 2.0 and not DLSS Frame Gen. I just finished the video and I may have missed that bit of information. Cheers to you for the hard work. I run 3440 x 1440p but I enjoy seeing the higher ultrawide variants.
I have my new 4070 super installed in my new rig I built (coming from a 4 year old Dell pre built using a 2060 super stuffed with bloatware) and man I can’t fcking wait to get it up and running !!!
That is going to be a massive upgrade that will feel like your flying. When I benchmarked my first GPU for this channel the 7900 XT I was blown away since i was coming from an RTX 2080.
@@ultrawidetechchannel I get man! That’s also a huge upgrade haha. It’s killing me waiting this 4 day stretch for my cpu to get here! The wife also just gave me her stamp of approval for a 1440p monitor as well! Stoked af man

Just discovered your channel this weekend.. INCREDIBLE Content! I noticed most of your videos are geared towards gaming. Do you have any recommendations on ultra wides and cards that can be used for day trading charts, platforms and general productivity task? I currently have a custom built rig by falcon trading with a quadro 2200 card. I would like to upgrade to the Samsung 57-in monitor but I don't know what graphics card will give me the full 240 with max res. I have a 4070 on my 3 year old 3440x1440 100hz monitor. I run mainly flight simulator and they are demanding compared to regular games. X-PLANE 12 will barely break fps in the 30s, some parts of the map maybe 60-80fps. I've seen videos with the 4090s barely breaking 50fps in X-PLANE 12 ultra settings @1440p.
I don't have any experience with X plane but I do know, that Microsoft flight simulator tends to be more CPU bound than GPU bound, at least with the high end GPUs
@@ultrawidetechchannel That is is the same problem with Xplane Xplane is even more CPU bound than Microsoft flight simulator. The devs are releasing a next year update that will address that. I currently have an Intel Core i7-8700k with a 3440x1440 120hz monitor. Do you think a 4070 would be good for my current set up? I'm kind of limited with upgrade options for my PC because I have an Alienware Aurora r7 prebuilt computer that won't really let me upgrade my CPU without getting a whole new motherboard as well.
Should 4070 Ti have enough vram for 2-3 years? That's my main worry of that card for 3440x1440. It seems like it's just enough now as few games are pushing it to be borderline. Last Of Us Part 1, Resident Evil 4.
From what I have seen is yes if you use DLSS Quality. In some instances without DLSS reducing the internal render resolution it gets close but with DLSS quality on it gives you enough headroom to make it through the next 2-3years.
Personally I would not. I would stick to 3440x1440p with the 4070. If you know that resolution is the dream for you and you plan to keep it for a long time, but you just don't have enough to get a faster card now but plan to upgrade soon then you can rely on DLSS and lower textures for the few games that are going to give that 12GB of memory a hard time.
@@ultrawidetechchannel thanks for the prompt answer :) what about a 3860x1600 monitor its the same asprct ratio ( 21:9 ) as a 3440x1440p or is that to much for my 4070 super thanks :)
@@SuperHongkongphooey That resolution is a modest up grade in difficulty to drive compared to 3440x1440 and i haven't really seen any issues with 12GB cards at that resolution outside of path tracing, but path tracing is an academic exercise for all GPUs but the 4090.
Hi. My CPU is an i5 10400F. Not sure if I'll be upgrading in the next 1 or 2 years. My monitor is 3440x1440p, 144hz. Should I go with the 7900xt or 4070 or 7800xt. In my country the 4070 and 7800xt are equal in price. And 7900xt is 25-30% more expensive. 😢
I have ryzen 7 5700x with gtx 970, want to change this grandpa and buy new monitor. What will be better choice 4070 or 7800xt for 3440x1440 oh i should mention that i have 550w psu and i dont really want to change it
if you have to keep that PSU then the 4070may be your only choice as its only 30W more draw rather than 100W. Fair warning Nvidia does suggests a minimum recomended power supply of 650W.
I wonder if you use a custom resolution that is lower than native resolution, but taking aspect ratio into acount. Would the image clarity be bad? (edit: could this be worthwhile to have a custom lower resolution but ultra settings, compared to native with high settings --- based on image clarity and graphics performance without DLSS/FSR). For example: 2959x1239 resolution has the same ratio (2.389) as native. But has the same 3.69 megapixels as 2560x1440 resolution (ratio 1.778). In comparison: native 3440x1440 has 4.95 megapixels (ratio 2.389).
I would strongly expect both DLSS & FSR would manage to out perform the visuals of doing that. Most non AI based upscaling looks pretty blurry unless it's using integer scaling eg: a 4:1 pixel ratio like 1080p to 4k upscaling. Where it will be sharp but more pixilated.
These numbers have to be off. At 3440x1440 in the same WH3 benchmark using a 2080 Super and and an 11600K, I get 69 FPS average. No way the 4070 and Ti are landing in the 70's.
It could be down to the 5800X3D jsut being a better synergy for this game than the 11600k. Last i tested that game with the 4080 at 3440x1440 I was getting 97fps average and 84fps 1% lows.
Thank you for making this video! Good job.
My pleasure!
Yikes. 100%, exactly the kind of comparison I was looking for; the chosen cards on 3440 x 1400. Thank you.

Love your videos. You should make videos about cpu tests for Ultrawide resolutions
I'm planing on it in the future but right now i only have 2 CPUs at my disposal. my old 2700X and my new 5800X3D
