Great video and lovely shots on Gold. I moved to an M3 after M240 to M6. The light meter and spool issues haven’t really been too big a deal for me either. I have a lot less anxiety about the camera as well.
Oh, good explanations, very clear! M3, a wonderful cam' ! ...And ... how do you do with shutter speed when the weather is sunny on f:16 for example ? Shutter speed 500 or 1000, or less ?
For a sunny day at f16 you have to set the shutter speed equal to your film iso speed or close to it. For example if film is 400 iso set shutter speed to 500.
@@frozenf8... and when the sky is "overcast", with f:5,6 and 400 iso film, the same: speed to 500 ? And if f:5,6 and 100 iso film, then speed 100 ? I confess : Yesterday afternoon I've bought my first M3 in Germany ! I find ...it's long and complicated to manage, no? Especially at the beginning ! Pouuuh ! So many adjustments! Yes, so many : speed, focus, aperture, iso adjustment on the camera back, aim and frame the photo! God, in all this time the street scene has passed and is over, no? Finally I prefer after all my Nikon Z fc, I'm saying something stupid ?
Very cool video! I am currently considering the purchase of a leica m-3, but I'm not certain I can see through the cameras viewfinder clearly with my glasses. Since I also live in Ottawa, I was wondering if there was any a time where you and I could meet for just 5 minutes, where I could take a look through your camera... I would greatly appreciate it as it's the only way i would pay for an expensive camera sight unseen without knowing if i would have to have special glasses made so i could see clearly enough to focus and compose. I would only need 5 minutes of your time. Either way, very informative video... thank you very much!
You'll have no problem with glasses- the focusing square in the middle is easily visible and easy to focus on. Beyond that I have no problem seeing the full 50 mm frame. Obviously there are issues with buying any camera sight unseen, but don't worry about the viewfinder or focusing.

Yes, I have used my 35mm without any external viewfinder and tried to frame using the whole viewfinder area and While it is not bad, it's not 100% accurate. I'm still looking for a workaround to be able to better frame.
Yeah i have a 35mm summaron goggled version for m3, but seems a bit chunky and got bigger in size haha. Maybe i should try other 35 non goggled lenses too!
should've gone for an M4-P. From the research I've done, its basically a M6 minus the light meter. The M4-P was used as a base model to make the M6 with a different material for the top instead of brass like the M3 and M4.
Honestly, one of the most important factors for me was the price, and when I was looking (around a year ago) the M3 was the best deal. I saw M2 and M4 bodies more expensive than this. But so far I’ve been happy with it and lack of 35mm frame lines isn’t a big deal for me.
@@frozenf8 Actually an M3 with an older lens (or lenses) is relatively inexpensive vs an M6 and new glass and will still give you wonderful results. Add and MR meter and you're set for life!

If you're going to compare pure shutter sounds and not shutter+mirror sounds you need to raise the mirror first.
True! But here I just wanted to compare the sound of camera when used handheld in real life. Not a scientific lab test by any means
