My ex wife worked there, and we where one of the first brought down, The car was good but like every GM product was produced to late for success, I know live 3 hours from the plant, I see a few Saturn around but usuually the fix is a roll of Silver duct tape and a nd a can of spray paint...lol
Sc2 had pop up headlights and all were twin cam. The 2 in SC2, Sl2 means twin cam. 1 means single cam and SC1 had the front end like the sedans, no pop ups. No built in ash trays after 94. They were a drop in for the cup holder.
Just got one when I got my permit, I’m getting my license this week. I love it sm, I’m 16 and I think it the perfect car for somebody that’s really into car and loves pop up headlights haha.
I love these first gen Saturns. They are so easy to work on and maintain. The gas mileage (for the era) is incredible...30 around town and 40 on the highway. They were built light (in a good way), are tossible, and just plain cool. I like them so much that I have a 1993 SC2 automatic and a 1995 SL2 5 speed manual. The automatic is very smooth shiifting. If you do basic maintenance they are incredibly reliable too. Parts are cheap. Finally, if waxed the paint will shine on the plastic panels. The 1995 is kind of a unicorn for Saturn afficianados. It has the improved interior of the second gen, but the better looks of the first gen imho!
Yeah, they seem like pretty attractive cars and some do rack up huge mileages, I well remember when they were first released, they were "different" from the usual domestic offerings but in a good way. Thanks for watching!
I have a 97 Saturn SL1 with the 5-speed manual. Almost 300 thousand miles on it. Still runs and drives good. Most likely I'll drive it to work today
im the original owner of a golden 95 sc2… this hurts my soul to see these cars like this
the first saturns made were very nice cars to own to bad that pepole dont see the potencial of these early saturns
I had a 92 SC2, loved that car. So much fun to drive and so easy to work on. Unfortunately rust got the best of it underneath
