  • Stanzas tend to disappear into the background a bit (okay, a lot), yet this first-year 1982 3-door hatchback stood out today as we walked by it, reminding that there was a time when a Datsun was also badged as a Nissan, sold by Datsun, and advertised seemingly both ways, as a Datsun and/or a Nissan. Very rarely seen nowadays especially in this format (the 5-door seemed the most popular), this 1982 Stanza is in excellent condition considering its age. While actually NOT Nissan's first FWD offering (that would be the 1970s Cherry and F10 models which I forgot about in the video!) this though tried to take the fight to the Camry and Accord, successfully at first, but then those two overtook it. The Stanza eventually became the Altima and just like Datsuns carried the Nissan name as well for a while (like this one did), the first Altima in 1993 actually had a little Stanza logo on it as well.
Join us as we walk around this Japanese flag-colored Stanza, we'll talk about it, look under the hood and discuss the engine, then look in the trunk/cargo area, and then spend some time looking inside the cabin where it's all gloriously red, all the time! Subscribe and Like (and Turn On Notifications!) so you don't miss any future episodes... and thanks for watching!

that interior is beautiful, i love the red gradient on the seats. ive got two stanza wagons and would love a first gen hatchback. two doors are the least common of them all

The wagons are really cool, there was an '86 at this yard recently, sadly no video of it though. Yes the seats are neat on this one, they could have just went bland overall red but spiced it up a bit. I can't recall the last 2-door I've seen of these. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. A very interesting car indeed. Here in Russia we mostly know it as JDM Nissan Violet though - most of hatchbacks were sporty spec with black or brown interior (no crimson colors).

Please try to rescue it. I remember seeing it on a facebook car page in 2023. It wasn't painted red by the 5 year old who last had possession of it.

Man I wish I didn't see this. I remember when the car was still alive last year somebody took a photo of it that I saved (before it was vandalized with red paint). I'm sad and angry at the same time these are very very rare. Got one myself and will never sell it.

You knew this particular car? You're right though, I don't recall the last time I saw a 3door, although the last couple of 5doors I've seen were also in junkyards. All were red inside too...hmm.

Yes the same car. I can send you a pic of it in the parking lot of a home depot if you want. 82-84 was the 2 door hatch years '84 being the rarest. Mine is a 1984.@@jimmythejunkyarddawg

No I believe you, just surprised you knew the car and then saw it here as well! They're good cars, surely underrated. Congrats on the 40th B-day for your car! And thanks for watching!
