@@EvilTwinOfSteveG Hi there :) This answer comes very late, is a bit lengthy and really just my guess but as someone who grew up on metal I can tell you that every metalhead who doesn't got stuck in the 80s is used to a certain amount of genre mix. When it comes to me; I mostly grew up with Visual Kei as my parents where fans and over in Japan musicians wear their influences on their sleeves and don't care about sticking to one genre even. I then became a huge fan of Black metal and the more obscure avant-garde type of bands from all over the world - and all that lead me early on to a huge appreciation for classical music and jazz. The first thing that lead _me_ to Ren therefore was his mix of poetic storytelling and theatricality - which I was accustomed to from VK - with classical compositions [most notable in Hi Ren but then you have that renaissance/wandering minstrel guitar which especially for Violet's tale is a terrible start for this sad story for me because it always leaves me grinning like a mad woman ^^'] and DRUMS [being a drummer myself that was something that instantly resonated with me]. Ren's flow is like a drum beat. I can totally see fans of Progressive and technical forms of Metal relate to and love that with Ren. And fans of Nu-Metal etc are already half way there anywhere. But the main thing, I suppose, that draws in metal heads are the lyrics. If you exclude bands like Dir en grey and the like poetry isn't exactly the first choice of lyrical writing in metal but storytelling is [at least in many subgenres] and so is a tendency towards folklore, socially relevant topics, mental health, politics etc. And of course for fans of vocal variety in story telling a lot of metal vocalists have a variety of 'voices' as Ren does. I really think Ren pulls as much influence from metal, rock, punk and classical music as he does from Rap and HipHop and it just shows through. And now Ren put me on to so many Rappers and Hiphop artists through his lyrics, it's like opening the door to a completely new corridor of musical expression and I'm having the best time ever exploring that part of the world :) [so in case you have any suggestions for me, I always appreciate people leading me to knew artists/bands etc] 💚
As already mentioned... you must do The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version) because your minds will be blown. It's a trilogy that must be watched in the correct order - hence full version. Not only are they all one shot videos but they are performed LIVE! It's art at its finest and the storytelling is insane, so if you do pause whilst watching then please rewind 5 seconds so you don't miss anything. I believe that it's the one that reactors get the most views on. Enjoy!
There are no bad Ren songs. Everyone seem to have different favorites which is just songs that hit you personally and speak to you more than others. Keep digging! So much yet to hear! Enjoying your Ren reactions!
I took a swan dive into the Ren Rabbit Hole after hearing "Hi Ren" 3 months ago...I have not found a bad song yet lol. And this is coming from a Slipknot loving lifelong metalhead maggot lol. Ren's music is so diverse and genre-bending...I'm convinced the man can do any type of music genre, and do it beautifully. Def check out the tales- Jenny/Screech/Violet. Mind-blowing. And I also recommend "Fire" to further illustrate his chameleon -like ability. The man is a musical force of nature.
I have been slowly going down the Ren rabbit hole. Haven't heard a bad song yet. What You Want makes my 90's kid happy. The beat reminds me a lot of what I grew up on.
There is not a bad song by Ren. The reason why people prefer one track over another mostly is that he produces songs that fall into different kinds of musical genres. But he masters them all, no matter if it is Rap / Hip Hop, Electro, Bardcore, Ballads (his duets with Chinchilla are next level!), Reggae, or mixing all of the above when live busking in Brighton. He just IS music.
You have to do the Tales Trilogy (Jenny/Screech/Violet). Its amazing and brilliant though tragic. Make sure you watch the entire trilogy at once and really pay attention to the story details to get the twist at the end!
Animal Flow (acoustic version) he just dropped, was amazing! One take video like most of his videos after he decided that was how he wanted his vudeos to be. Im continually impressed by ecery song of Ren
I’m going to agree with everyone else. There is not a bad Ren song. You still need to react to the tales. (All three at once please) and what you want. I think ya’ll will really dig the vibe of that one. (Also for context-i’m a metal girl at heart so the Ren Rabbit hole for me was very unexpected!) Please please react to the tales of jenny and screech (and violet) soon though! Been dying to hear ya’lls take on it! ❤
many of his videos are done in one take or the best of one takes, I've heard him state he likes the challenge. Suggestions: Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full) Genesis (singing) I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion (red suspender video) (singing) Earned it/Man's World/Falling (with Sam Tompkins)
Guys... Since I've discovered Ren he has skyrocketed up to my top 2 favorite artists next to TooL. His flow, artistry, intelligence, soul, voice, humbleness, and willingness to lift up and bring attention to other artist he respects by asking his fans to check them out put all others to shame. Tool and Ren are the only artists that have written songs that make me cry every time I hear them... but Ren cuts sooooooo deep into my heart and soul. You have to check out "Its Alright", "Chalk Outlines" AND "How To Be Me" w/Chinchilla, "Genesis", "Meaning", "Dominos", "I Love Music 1,2 &3", "1990's", "and "I Shot the Sherrif/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" street shot w/The Big Push ... pretty much do a day for Ren until you finish like you did with Tool. He is going to blow up and its about damn time.
I was a 17y/o skater punk when tool hit the scene, even saw them live once, I always have and will love them, but I don't know every nook n cranny of their catalog or quite heard every song, so I do not consider myself a member of Tool Army.....With that out of the way, hopefully illustrating how loyal, ravenous and dedicated Tool fans are, which in turn shows that the above compliment placing Ren right after them on this mans #2 all time fav list, is quite the compliment and says a lot about Ren's talent.
I haven’t heard anything I don’t love, genesis fire and the tales are about my favourites there is sooo much more that hits different, freckled angels will emotionally destroy you especially with a little backstory

One of the best rappers of this generation
Ren is amazing...great reacion thanks guys
Ren is that dude!! He has replaced everything in my playlists for the moment! He is every genre that I listen to! The dude is other worldly!
~*Damnnn...our REN is the best.. I loveeeee him so *~
He doesn't have a bad song!
I went through Ren's catalog many times over, no bad song, but every song is different and often different genres or a mix of genres, which makes them - Fire!
Top reaction - got a sub from me! If you want to go further down the Ren rap rabbit hole, 'What You Want' is my fave. And 'Power'. 'Genesis' is good too.
Have been listening to Ren for a year or two now … nope, haven’t come across anything I don’t LOVE. Have fun discovering everything … you’re in for a hell of a ride 😊
I been waiting for this one!
