External Debt to gdp decrease to 18.7% (March 24) from 19% (March 23).
Forex reserves to external debt increased to 97.4% from 92.7% from last year.
Short term external debt (bad debt) also decreased..
it is foregin debt to GDP. debt to gdp ratio is 90%.
Edit: ratio is 81%.

GDP = private consumption + govt. Expenditure+ investment+ (export - import) , which portion do you think will increase if decrease freebies?
Let me give you a idea nothing changes if you reduce freebies - govt. Exp. Decreases , private consumption would decrease or remain same , first read about GDP how it is calculated then think about it

@@akkirao37 First of all GDP = private consumption + gross private investment + government investment + government spending + (exports - imports)
Now there isn't a particular correlation between the government spending and private consumption. So we cannot say for sure.
It is always advisable for a country to spend more on capital expenditure as it would generate more good in the economy for a longer period of time while granting freebies sounds like a good move in the short run it always harms the country in the long run.
Clearly that doesn't even mean we would have hit $5 trillion mark this year. That is totally impractical.
