India Post can not become profitable, because it's a govt service. It has to operate in every nook and corner of the country. A 50 paisa post card travels thousands of miles just for half of a rupee.
It's a government service just like education sector, defence etc.. it's aim is not to be profitable but self -sustaining i.e the revenue earned must be enough to pay salaries to all its employees
Private companies will get benefited due to this..now if i have to send something to someone i will definitely hire a Private company.

Government should convert India post from a department to a statutory corporation. It should be modelled on the lines of Maharatna PSUs.
That way post office still remains with govt like other PSUs and Banks.
But govt probably wants do away with postage business of DoP and keep the banking part only.

That section 10 statement granting the Postal Department exemptions from liability regarding poor service should not be brought into force. In my opinion, that is a major point of contention, because of which people here are commenting that the government wants to promote "Adani and Ambani couriers private limited". I hope the government reconsiders the exemption part, because the Indian Post Office Service is often accused of slow delivery times, and government job security is one of the major reasons for corruption in the government sector.
