Hey Brett, thanks a lot for making this video. I've been using it as inspiration leading up to my grade 8 exam and I've just been informed that I passed with distinction!
Congrats!
Great groove! Love it!
Thanks man!
Wow you smashed that Brett, fantastic loved it :-)
Thanks so much!
When will u post this x
@@Hhhh-je8dv is there any point when there is such as good demo already out there?
@@daveodart haha i know im just a big fan of you playing! :) x
@@matthewgearing9588 Matthew, the purpose of the grade syllabus is to develop musicianship. Brett’s version demonstrates a highly developed skill based interpretation and interaction with the chart/audio. The first draught of the piece was a note for note transcription of Benny’s playing and this was rejected in favour of a chart based study with room for personal investment 👍
Ooooh now I have done my 8 grade last year ☹️ , after seeing this gerbfruit this is my wish to do 8 grade one more time
I have a few students that thought the same!
Brilliant performance Brett....
Thank you so much for uploading each video of grade 8 God bless you from India 🙏🙏
Thanks man! Just checked your email. I'll reply very soon.
Brilliant playing ! Fantastic solo
So Rocking & Cool playing 🔥
And That 36 bar Improvisation is still tough to me in Gerbfruit 😕
I'm Gonna do Grade 8 Soon
Good luck for the exam! The trick with improvisation is to just play, man :) When you're practicing, put some time aside to just sit and play whatever comes to mind. Then take ideas from that and build them into a solo. Start the solo quiet and then build it up as you go. Great solos are great because they build up tension and then it resolves. You could play a bunch of rudiments around the kit and then add cymbals to make it bigger towards the end. Maybe leave some space in some bars. That's always good.
@@brettclurdrums 😍 Your Words 🙏 a lot mean to my playing for improving more. After i read this comment reply i just got sone confidence and ideas..
I will Do my best ❤👍 .. when i done my grade 8 i should Tag You in my post 🙏 thank you brother 💙👍
@@user-Creative-world Awesome! Good luck, man.
Has anyone noticed that the track has been taken off the trinity playlist on Spotify? Strange:/
I'm gonna do my grade 8 soon and this is super helpful!
Great to hear!
Nice solo!!
Tight bro
Way too fire 🔥
Perfection like Benny Greb.
Thank you!
Any tips on how to get the right hand up to speed on the main groove? I can do most of the other bits it’s just the right hand I cannot get fast enough!! Great playing :)
Thanks! I'd suggest working on that pattern slowly with a metronome. Speed the tempo up every few minutes with a metronome. Only do gradual increments though. With micro speed boosts, you'll get faster without really realising it over time
Awesome play through. What’s the ride/snare fill you’re doing at 3:17? I keep hearing this fill, it’s a total classic, but I’ve never been able to figure out how to do it
It's called a Blushda. Search that on RUclips and you'll find a buuunch of lessons on it! :)
Has anyone noticed that the track has been taken off the trinity playlist on Spotify? Strange:/
That is strange!
"I wouldn't advise doing that in exam"
;)
Can you Share me the track ?please
Unortunately not, man. The track comes from the Trinity College London Drum Kit books. You'd have to buy them otherwise it would be copyright infringement.
Sheesh
