I'm a Vietnamese, and surprised because of how cheap things are in my country. It's crazy that 17 dollars is nothing in Switzerland but you can have a massive buffet in Vietnam.
I never thought of Vietnam as a place I want to go to for a vacation, until I saw this video. It actually changed my mind. Not only is it cheap, but also looks much nicer than I imagined.
Pro-tips for Switzerland: - Coop, Migros and Denner always discount things throughout the day (huge discounts at Coop after 6 PM). - Make your way towards Schaffhausen for affordable restaurants. Schaffhausen is much more affordable than Zurich

Vietnam is on my list for long term stay. If you are a Medical tourist? It's a good idea to check it out what they have to offer while you are there. The massages alone are worth the trip.
Fun fact: Couchsurfing used to be the best way to travel and meet new people and experience a place like locals (Stay with locals for free who offer up "their couch" to travelers).... Until the company that owns Airbnb bought Couchsurfing and ruined the community.
Actually AirBnB was created by two idiots who, once they enjoyed Couchsurfing simply thought "let's make money" with this concept. And then Casey Fenton, who in reality did not do much besides start Couchsurfing, thought, well I will also make money and destroyed Couchsurfing.

Switzerland ... I did it 10 years ago. Went with my own caravan, fridge, and purchased most of my food from Germany for the 2 day trip. Once we stopped at Oberalp Pass, and got a cheese plate with some meat. Absolutely delicious. I saw the prices everywhere, so did i bought there anything? No. Only the cheese plate. I slept in my own bed, enjoyed the view. Nice memories, i would not stay in a hotel at all ... Just too expensive.
What a difference. Fifty years ago, the war ended, people left to fend for themselves but now with peace no crime, the economy doing very well. On the other hand, United States facing rising crime, inflation and country going deeper in debt financing another war.

I visited Vietnam in may and it is definitely one of my favourite places. 100% recommend and would love to go back. You can travel there on a budget and still eat good food and stay in nice places or you can spend close to western prices and live in luxury
I truly think she was happy and impressed both as owners and people locally that a man from America was seated and eating much more native food and being around much more native people. US as foreign travelers hardly truly know the struggle of so many and their so happy to see you contributing to their passions and even more their country

Services in Switzerland are very expensive. But from $100 you can easily manage to buy groceries as a single Person for a week ! I know because I live here !
Regarding the driver that stopped after your bike "crash", it is pretty normal in that part of Europe that people would stop when you crash, or that a car that is behind you stops with their warning lights on to shield you off from any traffic that could crash into you from behind.

@@Cajek2 I don't think that it has anything to do with that. They are both Communist countries, so China is no threat to them. That said, all of Southeast Asia and South Asia is very cheap. Very beautiful, and Westerners can have an excellent standard of living, along with excellent healthcare at a fraction of what it cost in the US. I have been there over a dozen times and I am retiring there. There is a huge American expat community there, actually.

The most important thing that should be on everyone mind currently should be to invest in different sources of income that doesn't depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis
Thank goodness you brought this up! Truly, investing has changed my perspective on how one can succeed in life; working multiple jobs isn't the optimal way to attain financial freedom and unfortunately, we discover this later in life. Currently earn as much as 10 grand weekly and this has improved my financial life. Great piece!
