Instead of shaming the feeling of jealousy when it comes up, we can recognize it as a signal that there is something in the other party or about the other party that we admire and that we may also want to have. Sometimes it simply highlights the parts of us that we feel insecure about and that we may want to work on.

So you've had problems with jealousy...don't say to yourself that's bad I need to suppress this feeling instead let the feeling pass, examine why you felt that way and if it was logical or is it something you can improve in yourself. It's podcasts like these that make me seriously consider hosting a new kind of podcast myself - a podcast for the other guys, the ones that say (like me), 'I tried all that as much as I could, but i'm not getting anywhere', or 'you don't understand, my situation is different, I can never succeed like you two did', or things like that. I really feel that so many people listen and are inspired, but they're also trapped by the inevitability of having tried before and failed repeatedly - but they KEEP LISTENING. Maybe a different kind of podcast that speaks more specifically to this group, maybe focusing more on all the tiny baby steps that need to be taken, bc those are all that they can do bc to others they are baby steps but to these ppl they are MONSTROUS. If anyone else here has had the same idea I would love to hear your thoughts.

For me personally, I think Dr. K has a lot of good content in this vein that also comes from the perspective of a clinical psychiatrist. He has helped me out significantly, but we still need many more voices. The problem is that men are often ridiculed for generally having a hard time, and any difficulty in general is met with shame instead of and form of practical support.

It grows in the Inyo National Forest, but its exact location is kept secret to protect it from vandalism.
In addition to Methuselah, an even older bristlecone pine discovered in 2013, known as **"Old Hara"**, is estimated to be over 5,000 years old, also located in the White Mountains. These trees are considered the oldest non-clonal trees on Earth.

1:25:44 Unhealed trauma gets passed on to the next generation. It is normal that it shows up in your genes and manifests in terms of illnesses and or what we attract in our lives. But we are not doomed when that happens, we get to do the work to heal and release these traumas to not only create a better life than our parents but also to not pass it on to our kids and the next generation afterward.

Not only can course correcting be difficult, but once you get far enough down that path you can easily lose sight of what it is that WOULD make you passionate. I have a decent job (not terrible but not the one either), a mortgage, a teenager, a marriage and I'm over 50. I'm honestly not sure that I would even know what to correct my course to anymore but less the actuality of doing it with the familial and financial responsibilities of every day life. That's the absolute worst and hardest part for me, that I've been on that path so long that I honestly have no clue what to do otherwise anymore.

1:56:24...When someone tries to counter the claim that most rape victims are men by saying that most rapists are men, they're effectively saying that it doesn't count that most victims are men because most perpetrators are men. We've now shifted the focus of the conversation, ie. who is the primary recipient of rape, to 'which gender is the most offensive'. If it were true that most rape victims were women, it wouldn't matter if most of the perpetrators were also women because the point is that there is a serious problem with the amount of women that are being raped. The gender of the perpetrator is completely irrelevant unless your focus is to somehow denigrate a particular gender.

A non-psychopath has significant emotional activity just to the imagery because of *mirror neurons* . Basically they mimic another person's emotions when you see them.
That's why people usually enjoy collective activities such as concerts and sports games more, because seeing other people's enjoyment amplifies yours.
And also that's why fathers start feeling paternal when they see the mom nurturing the baby.
If your mirror neurons work, you will always feel *some* emotion watching another human's significant emotion.
Now the word "empathy" may not be the best choice because it's actually *understanding* the other's feeling. *Sympathy* is when you feel some of their emotion, which is what psychopaths missing.
They may understand very well, but they feel nothing. Zero emotional response hence zero emotional activity in that area.
Of course the level of activity is different for all individuals, but eith psychopathy, we're talking about zero or close to zero activity.

I think Rogan can see this and questions it, but ultimately it goes straight over Chris’ head. This cannot be taught. It is interesting what they talk about genetics, I believe that genetics does determine who we are, the more genetically ingrained something is, the greater its tendency to go out and pass on to new generations.
But there are 2 things that make up who we are as a species and that will always be genetically stronger.
    1) It's the ability to socialize, no matter what you are like, we all need someone.
it is one of the things that helped us to survive, not only against the environment but also against other homo, the ability of homosapiens to collaborate with each other was the reason why we were able to extinguish other homo species.
    2) The ability to change, is literally our greatest strength, no matter how ingrained something is in our genetics, over the generations it can be changed, because the ability to change is much more ingrained in our genetics than anything else.
And it makes sense, if at the base of all our genetics was not the ability to change to adapt to the environment we would be extinct.
It is not that we are more than our genetics and that is why we can change, it is that genetically we are made to adapt according to the circumstances, that is why we are such a successful species.

The ability to change will always be stronger than any genetic tendency or shortcut you have coded in your genes.

I don't like men assuming what women want! It's a bit closed minded to say that women want a certain kind of man, but also interesting to hear people's perspectives on it. I'm probably guilty of assuming what men want in a woman! That's a whole podcast in itself!

They speak early on about people in the U.S. being generally more supportive of people who have more than they do, whereas in the UK, there is an attempt to bring down such people. I can say that my faith gives me the reason to be supportive of people who have more than I do. If God has so blessed or gifted that other person with more things, then who am I to be envious of that? Be satisfied with what you have, and if you are not, work harder so that you can have more. But stop comparing yourself to others, nothing useful comes out of it.

20:17 I thought the UK is having a NHS crisis?

    • @olivergille8305
      @olivergille8305 3 месяца назад +1

The NHS is still good at Emergency response and critical care but because of lower funding and an aging population, increasingly bad at treatment of non-lethal conditions eg. Check ups, hip replacements etc.
Also compared to America, prescriptions cost WAY less to maintain.
Basically its quite good if your diabetic or get hit by a car, but if you need simple surgery to correct a non life threatening problem, you either need to wait 10x longer than you would in the US or pay out of pocket to get seen privately.
