Squale is quite good for that mid level price range. I have the 1545 maxi dial which is an homage to a more modern sub. I also have the Steinhart OVM 39 for the mil sub. Both are great watches for the money.
"Controversial" just because TGV used to praise this brand... Take no notice. Small opinions of small people. Squale makes fine watches and the brand actually has some heritage, if that rings your bell.
Thanks for the review. I'm torn between this watch and the Squale ATMOS 20 Classic. This model did not use Mercedes's hands and like the old school look and like the non-cyclops date window.
Have the GMT version with "jubilee bracelet." Very well done for the money. Bezel is stiff but will turn. Bracelet screws may need tightening. But all in all good value for the money in a GMT with great LUME.
This is actually a very nice watch. I have an older green 1545, I think it’s a well made watch. The case was s very Submariner, but the dial is different enough. I have basically lost interest in Rolex Sub-style watches, I used to like them when I first got into the hobby. For around $600 US, a really nice diver is the Certina DS Action Diver. Has Saphire, Powermatic 80 Movement, and a nice tool-Look.
Wrong. Squale was founded in 1946 and it wasn't until 1959, under Charles’ supervision, Von Büren SA registered the Squale trademark and obtained the first patent for the manufacturing of a diving watch case. Rolex was founded in 1905 and it was in 1953 that the Rolex Submariner was the first diving watch water-resistant to 100m. So it looks like Rolex got there first in all fronts but nice try in manipulating the information.
This case and dial minus the hands look to me like the Squale made blancpain 1545 25 fathoms. Those who know, know. But plenty don’t and just screech Rolex.
I love my two Squale Watches. The Brand has a great History as Dive Watches, so do not let Watch Snobs tell you otherwise.

It's based on the submariner military. I ordered it because I wasn't a big fan of a protruding cyclops and a Mercedes hourhand.
Thank you for this great review. One suggestion: It would be very informative if you explained the controversial part of the Squale brand. Regards.

Is the lume on the hands slightly lighter in color compared to the hour markers?
Where can I get it? Send it to Hong Kong. Can anyone teach me

@@TimeAndCrown done
Dang that's sweet
PLZ mention prices, not just price ranges. ex: The price you paid.
Why do you think the headline says $600? 🙂
@@TimeAndCrown I know... I meant 'in general'. Because sometimes you say: 'for under 1000$'
Jean-Pierre Bergeron It’s impossible to mention exact prices. It has to be price ranges.
For the money would love to see applied indices instead of painted on indices. Makes it look a little cheap.
Tell that on OMEGA Seamaster 300 Co-Axial 233.30.41.21.01.001 wich cost 4500$
The outline of the hands is black. It must be silver...
Nice watch. I have the classic original, love it. I did a video on it. Check it out.

Sorry squale came out in 1946 and Rolex came out in 1953 so squale was befor Rolex sub
