I had a step dad who was very protective, he wouldn't know my cycle or lay with us kids in our beds. Never ever.

The whole sleeping arrangement is bonkers. Maddie was basically getting trafficked by her own mother.
My dad was very over protecting even down to explaining the zone. Right above the breasts to just below the vajayjay. We did sleep with him often as my mom was the one who ran our family business. Not once did we ever feel uncomfortable or anything he also respected the zone unless we needed a bath or whatever. This is nuts.
My bf will sleep in the same bed as our twin sons if he has to.

As a child I used to get beat with a belt buckle as well as other physical abuse yet as an adult I chose to break the chain and raise my children w/o physical punishment.

There's no way mom Jennifer didn't know from the time her daughter was 8 years old that she was being abused! Her whole reaction when her daughter went missing was not normal!
No it sure wasn't. She didn't seem worried about her. Didn't get choked up when she talked about her. Never she'd even one tear! I would have been so frantic, I would have been out looking everywhere for her and couldn't have even stopped looking until I fell over from exhaustion!

My spelling check kept changing your name lol. I come from an abusive background..I'm 69. It really changes a child and it's hard to navigate life as an aging person. I finished therapy some time ago. One can never change it out past but I no longer have that holding my life prisoner.
I got to get back to my abuser. And it will affect his life as long as he exists.
Anyway,you were a child. You didn't deserve any of that..my mom was mentally ill. I forgive her .

Buttie, I feel you. Been there, done that, was 5 yrs old when it happened. My abuser is dead & gone, anyone who harms a child like this is a vile coward. I had to trust that God will handle it, and I'm sure that He carried out Justice in His own way. Therapy does help, as does venting those negative feelings & thoughts, by channeling them into something positive, making something lovely. I like to grow flowers, veggies and care for my critters. There is hope for a better day, knowing that no one can ever do that to you again. I pray that you find hope in each new day, God Bless you!

I know you are telling the truth about your experience with your father. I wish there was a way to protect children. My own experience of making reports to DCFS is that they don't do anything and the phone report just makes it worse for the kid.

When my son passed away I cried everyday for weeks and NEVER “ran out of tears” Running out of tears is not a thing!
I think ‘running out of tears’ is more of an expression…. It’s not meant to be taken literally.
My daughter passed in 2020. I 100% understand the “running out of tears” expression. I did it. I couldn’t stop crying. Then I went numb inside. I didn’t cry. I sat silent. I was in a weird haze. I didn’t cry. Even when I talked about her. My feelings were gone. I felt nothing. Life felt like it wasn’t real.
It’s a coping mechanism. The brain can’t handle the feelings and it shuts down. It’s very very unhealthy and if a person feels that way they should see a dr/therapist.

The fact that Sterns was driving his dad’s car explains why the police had to track his dad’s movements that day as well to exclude the dad as a suspect.
I wonder if he was using his dad‘s car on purpose? Because he knew he was going to do this? Kill the girl?

I’ve said it a thousand times on every video I see about this. Stephen was selling those photos of Maddie. This person saying he always had money but no job just helped confirm my theory. I think Jenn was benefiting from the selling of the photos and that’s why she went along with it. It all goes back to money.

I agree with this and not sure if it’s related or not but days apart from this case there was an older man that was caught within that same area for distribution and was apparently inappropriate with several kids in the neighborhood. They found videos of those kids being abused in the drives they recovered. I remember it being linked to a huge ring but can’t remember the name. He dressed like Santa Claus in the neighborhood they said.

She needs meds to sleep, to be awake, to be a mother, to work, she needs to sleep alone so she can get rest. How is sleeping with your 13 year old keeping u from getting rest? I understand that people go through things! I have bipolar disorder, I struggled for years with it, I also raised 4 children and trust me, it wasn't easy! I needed breaks, support, etc. But if I couldn't get it, I just tried my best to make it through. I wouldn't accept help from anyone I didn't trust and I wouldn't have my boyfriend taking on this intimate role with my children. He wouldn't be bathing them, putting them to bed, sleeping with them, babysitting them, none of that. I'll suffer through whatever I'm going through before I accept support from just anyone.

After hearing these interviews, putting the pieces together, it makes sense. SS is a twisted individual, he will reap what he has sown. Lets pray that Law enforcement did a thorough job, and prosecutes all guilty parties involved. Justice for Maddie!

Exactly. I had a rough childhood! I was physically, emotionally and verbally abused by my step father, my dad was abusive towards my mom, I went through a lot but I would never use that as an excuse to do horrible things.

I’d bet money the grandmother kicked him out. That was a townhouse for Jenn to raise her daughter and make income renting out the spare bedrooms. The grandmother seems like a smart lady. Likely the reason he wasn’t welcome at the birthday party or at the townhouse. I’ll bet grandma did not know he was slithering back at night to sleep there.
The house belonged to JS's father, not her mother. I believe they are divorced. The father lived there with them for a long time and all three of them were sleeping together at that time so I don't think he cared. I think he gave the townhouse/apartment to Jenn.

Jenn using the term "We" the way she does, is done in a attempt to sound more involved as a parent then she is/was. I know to many lazy parents, that use the "We" term a lot when I know they weren't involved in the topic they are discussing. Whether she knew or was involved only time will tell.

Imo, in his mind, he was in a relationship with Madeline. Jen was the secondary person to him. He targeted her to get to Madeline, he kept coming back to Jen because of Madeline, and ultimately he killed her to keep her. Jen was a cover, a tool. And i think Jen knew that.

My father was arrested in 1965 for being a peeping Tom. I was 5 and my younger brother was less than 1 year. My parents had been married for 5 years at that point. He was an incessant womanizer and remained so through the 80s. I never experienced anything creepy with him and he occasionally made comments about my friends in high school being attractive. He's slso a malignant narcissist who doesn't "like" women, they're objects. He had mommy issues, but would never admit to it.

I have worked with children who have been abused and they have disclosed to me what has been happening for years. They were often worried they would get into trouble if they spoke up. Also the shame or not being believed. It’s heartbreaking. It seems MS didn’t have the kind of relationship with her mother that she could talk to. Her mother made her feel she was nothing but trouble off she was threatening to kick her out when she reached 18. Very likely she thought she wouldn’t be believed.
My husband and I have been together 13 years since my daughter was 3. He made sure she had her own bed when we stayed at his house. My daughter would occasionally come into our bed in the middle of the night and he would go lay on the couch. He still sleeps on the couch if our daughter or my daughter wants to sleep in our bed. The ONLY time he has ever slept with our daughter was when she was a baby (she wouldn’t sleep unless she was laying on his or my chest as a baby).
That's an ideal situation for him that Jen takes A LOT of medication. "Just send Maddie to me and I will take care of her - you just rest." / IMO, This creep probably tried to give her his "birthday present" and she resisted and said she would tell someone what he has been doing. Being thirteen, she was growing up and realized she could voice her abuse to others, since she got no satisfaction from her mother. She was getting older and he was losing control, which was a threat.
Plus her and Jen weren’t getting along so he could play nice guy to Maddie which allowed him to be even closer. All of the friends saying Jen was telling Maddie she would have to leave once she turned 18. It’s just horrendous this poor girl had no peace or safety in her life.

Yeah, that is just the latest flavor. A short time ago we were told it was head trauma. Other popular ones were drugged, botched abortion used for a snuff film. Tons of rumors and speculation and wild flights of imagination. A lesson could be learned here, WAIT for LE, court documents to give the facts. You cannot rely on rumors.
Maddie was strangled but it’s also possible she was drugged prior to that. Her body was still limp when the parking garage CCTV filmed him putting Maddie in the trunk. She was seen by several people seatbelted into the car with her head slumped to the left. 😢
It seems that the friend with the “ normal “ not chaotic family noticed things that were worrisome or disturbing more so than the friend who sounds like he also had a bit of a chaotic family. It seems they were both looking at the Sterns family through different lenses.
I haven’t seen the entire timeline but is it possible Jen was jealous of the relationship with him and her daughter and she killed Maddie and he is covering for Jen? If she is unhinged?
I was thinking she didn’t want him touching her anymore and said she’d tell. So he shut her up forever :( and not to be mean but Jen seems maybe a bit slow? Or easy prey for sterns. I’m not in agreement with most at this point as far as her being arrested.
I think this was exactly what happened. She threatened to tell. I also agree that Jenn has a cognitive delay but STILL.. she should have known better.
Edit: I still think she should be charged. Sending your child to sleep with your boyfriend is not okay.
I think the same about Jen. I think she just didn’t have a clue but the footage where the police are asking questions about Madeline in Jens mums office- she starts side eying him. It looks to me like it had started to dawn on her

If u are close with ur children, very little gets past that u don't notice. Even if ur not really close, I believe if u at least CARE, u would see the red flags that I am SO SURE were there! The body cam footage of them talking to police at the initial reporting of Maddie missing, tells a lot about Jen IMO. She acted in a hurry, like she was bothered. The way she kept moving shuffling her feet with no tears whatsoever.. smdh idk I think she knew he did something, whether she knew EXACTLY what happened or just suspected, I think she knew

The friend does not have anything to say about his one meeting with Maddie. As if she is not relevant to the situation and his friends' abhorrent behavior. I think I could have found one good thing to say about her or something about the interaction between Maddie and SS. Just an observation!
To be fair, the focus of the conversation is on the dude. If he only had 1 interaction with Maddie, it would be weird for him to focus enough on her to make such a comment. He's talking about what he knows.

Her teacher gave an interview about how Madeline generally was at school and he said she had sleepy days where she would put her head on her arms on her desk, then would have periods of being perfectly fine. That says to me she was being drugged for nefarious reasons, fine days were when SS wasn’t staying with them. You can’t rule out that Jen might have killed her and SS helped her with disposing of her body.
Or she was being assaulted at night by him and wasn't getting any sleep.

Predators do that a lot. I had a roommate I didn’t know was a registered offender. Once I found out, I found one of the girls he abused. He dated the mom to get to the kids. Her brother too. She was a heroin addict when I met her.

After info came out indicating that her cause of death was strangulation I wonder if a bondage s@x act went too far. When the JonBenet case happened forensic examiners wrote about abusers who choke their child victims (for horrible reasons I won't describe) and sometimes it goes too far. I wonder if something like this happened accidentally and then this monster had to scramble around and get rid of the body. I wouldn't be surprised if the videos were not a money making operation, so I kinda doubt he would get rid of his profit toy unless it was an accident. But who knows...RIP poor Maddie

Jenn Soto has paid the ultimate price for putting her child in a vulnerable position and allowing Sterns to have the contact he did with the sleeping arrangements. Although, I think Jenn is not quite there mentally and extremely naive, I also believe Stephan would have done what he did even if he wasn’t in harms way. He is clearly manipulative and his lies come across with so much ease it’s scary, pure evil.

I think it's MS who paid the ultimate place. The more I hear about and see and hear JS, the more suspicious I become and I was suspicious of her behavior from the start. Just listened to one of SS's friends saying S and J were into some really "kinky" stuff makes me more suspicious. What does that mean and how extreme?

Until then we do the same thing we did with SS, we look at her, we look at the evidence, we look at what is being revealed about her and we come to reasonable conclusions and wait for more evidence and we Don't let people gloss over her incomprehensible conduct. People decide somewhere in their minds someone is innocent and they bend everything and ignore all signs of guilt or potential guilt. Where are her friends and family speaking out about her innocence? Nowhere.
