Sorry to hear your robbery ordeal. I have been travelling extensively abit like yourselves. I know there no point to criticize after the misfortune. Below is my learning from similar ordeal in the past like yourselves. I always leave my valuable belongings in the hotel counter safe or locked drawer if they have one. Or I left in in the locked baggage inside the room and I only have enough cash for ONE week or 2 weeks if I am going to a remote area where low chance of ATM. I will get more $$ from ATM using my debit card if I need to. I will put 3 days expenses cash into my travelling wallet in my pocket not in the day backpack. If my wallet get stolen, no sweat. I NEVER carry driving license, ATM debit cards & passport in day backpack. I know it is the most vulnerable item to be stolen when you are out and about in the restaurant, sightseeing.. etc. There are lot of pickpockets and opportunistic seekers in the street. The most vulnerable moment is when you are kicked out of the night bus with your hand carry and baggage in the rush in the early morning in the dark in the crowded station like train station.
出門在外，尤其在這種經濟比較落後的地方，錢財最好隨時攜帶，以免讓人有機可尋，畢竟對你而言不是大錢，對他們而言可是大豐收
對，我也是有粗心過，在哈薩克斯坦的阿特勞，住宿舍時美金被偷了😢，人家也是在我一疊美金裡抽出兩張。雖然立刻就查覺到，可以也無法指正任何人，只能自認倒楣
在斯里兰卡，试过在巴士站八小时，挤满人，站到一半空气不流通，要呕吐。好不容易挤到巴士门口，才有机会坐在门口楼梯。也是很辛苦的经验。
