      @Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT That's still not exactly new is it. Look, my point is that if you really want to hype up the 'new generation' of metal bands you're going to have to find bands that formed/found their sound in the 2010s, calling anything before that 'new' is like calling metalcore or nu metal 'new'.

    • @volrath6139
      @volrath6139 3 года назад +7

      @Ivory_ Lagiacrus_YT 'Real' doesn't mean first. Honestly I don't even understand why we're arguing about this. Ig my reasoning is that you and many others are basically turning a blind eye to a certain era, acting like a relatively old band like Gojira is the next big thing and blinding yourself to the fact that this genre needs an actual future. I'm certainly reading more into everything than there actually is lol, but probably because this is something i have become frustrated with recently in the metal community. Sorry for the overreaction, hope you have a good rest of your day lol.

    I am disabled, in a wheelchair and absolute agony with spine disease and I have maybe a year left. I discovered Gorija a year ago and weirdly I can really relate to a lot of the songs, though obviously not about me personally. The emotion in the music really clicks with me and helps ME cope with my situation. The frustration, anger, upset and pain of my condition and how it affects my family...I have a wife and young children and not being around is understandably a problem for me to process. Gojira helps me a lot from a cathartic point of view and I find the music highly motivational. I wish I could speak to the band to thank them...they didn’t write their music for me, but it feels like it. Much love Joe and the guys, xx

      @@ghostnote1678 I am open minded enough to listen to people’s point of view and argument rather than dismissing people based on an often misused label. I don’t have to agree with someone to “follow” them on RUclips. Also I don’t have to dislike someone because another person has decided they are whatever ism they choose to label them. You don’t know why I follow anyone or whether I happen to agree with them or not. What is certain from my perspective is that being of a mixed background and disabled is that most people shouting “racism” and “ableism” do not speak on my behalf as I rarely find these words to actually apply and a semantic fallacy does apply as in fact the words are used as a battering ram to attempt to force people into not expressing their opinion, which I am wholly against. You don’t get to decide whether I think people I follow are racist, ableist, homophobic, transphobic etc etc, I get to decide what I think. Then, shockingly even if I do decide they they are indeed one of these labels, it is my decision as to whether I want to follow them or not to understand their position whether I find it agreeable or not. In other words, I don’t need a “white knight” deciding for me what my opinion is or what arguments I should or should not be exposed to, but thanks for trying to assert your self appointed moral dominance over a disabled person. Finally, you don’t get to decide how I enjoy Gojiras art, but again, thanks for the attempt at dictating to me what and how I should enjoy something. We (disabled people) don’t need people like you making rules up for us.

    What I really love about this interview is just how little Joe was talking about new record, old records, personal stuff, etc., but on that vegan question - he just couldn't stop. That is probably one thing that occupies his mind the most. I don't know how, but this band literally made me vegetarian (and then vegan) in a year. And I was heavy meat eater. I've been listening to Gojira only since 2018, but it's already became not only my fav band, but probably one of the best things, that happened to me for the last 10 years. Some people can say that this is just music, but if it can change someone's life for best - it IS a big deal. Thanks to Joe and other guys for this. Fan boy for life, currently 30.
    And yeah, of course there is a LOT more to share than just vegan diet. Be aware, be primal, fear not, make your love and anger be in balance and find the right way to direct it. That is Gojira for me

    I love Joe's explanation of how they figure out how to play a song live. It makes total sense to me that those that are familiar with the songs will add the accents mentally even though they aren't actually there. I was lucky enough to see Gojira in 2019 with my daughter, and we were directly in front of Christian, against the stage. Great experience.

      @@dvir12345 Their stuff has aged horribly. Metal is supposed to be a genuine and unadulterated expression of the soul, dynamic, emotional and down to earth, but ultimately fun to play. The guys from Iron Maiden are a few leather pants from being glam; they already have the commercial 'arena' sound, and they were never that disruptive anyways, thrash could've existed without them, we already had a Diamondhead, a Judas Priest, a Motorhead, an UFO, and so on and so on... even if they were important, i will always prefer the people who did it better, no matter for how many years a band pioneers a genre, the next band is always gonna do it better than them, people really need to lay off that fallacy. And i'm not trashing you for liking them, but Iron Maiden, better than Gojira? What a sick joke.

      There's always gotta be that douche comment. They actually are underrated. Sure they have a dedicated fan base and are a fairly large band, but with as talented these guys in both the studio and Live, along with being amazing dude's, they should be on the level of Metallica, etc. I didn't even know about them until around 3 years ago when I stumbled across a live version of "The Art of Dying" Live in '09.
