@@Dave_of_Mordor that’s a little hard because marvel shows/tv don’t usually follow the comics. Like they already switched one thing up with Steven so it’s like oh well
Mr. Knight looked awesome in this episode. Another great episode. The back and forth between Steven Grant and Marc Spector was my favorite part of this episode. Khonshu looks terrific in this series. Arthur Harrow is a great villain. I love the visuals in this show. Arthur Harrow being a former avatar of Khonshu, was an excellent twist. Arthur Harrow roasting Khonshu was cool-blooded. I'm also enjoying this show. I loved the interaction between Steven Grant and Arthur Harrow in this episode. Khonshu has no chill. Another thing I loved about this episode was Layla and her interaction with Steven Grant was fun to watch.
Chris is on point. The trauma from dying and being resurrected by khonshu created the Steven grant personality. Basically Marc used several secret identities one of them being Steven grant when he was a secret agent when going undercover. After dying and being resurrected the Steven grant secret identity separated and became its own independent person. Im guessing when Marc used the Steven grant secret identity when he use to go undercover in the past he probably based the personality traits of Steven grant on his wife. The fact they have the same favorite author, both nerd out about languages and Egyptian stuff it's pretty clear Marc created Steven in honor of his wife. Also there is indeed an avatar for the sun god in the comics. His avatar is called the sun king.
Actually, we don't KNOW that Khonsu created any personality. Remember what Harrow asks Steven if he was broken before or after the god got to him. So it's totally possible he's had this disorder for a while. Khonsu saying to Marc "you promised you could control him" could easily indicate that Steven was another personality that came with Marc--but, clearly, never had the ability to dominate the body before now. Clearly, Steven has become a much stronger and much more powerful personality after Marc saw the need to split from Layla to keep her safe from Khonsu. As for knowing Layla's fave author and, like Layla, Egyptian, those who have this disorder to remember things from other identities. Steven knows about Layla's fave author, but made it his own. And learned French because of that. So, possibly, Steven was around in a smaller and more minor form before Khonsu.
Dissociative Identity Disorder forms from repeated/prolonged *childhood* trauma. It does not develop in adulthood. However, once the brain has learned to split as a survival mechanism, it doesn't forget. Alters can split off (or, under certain circumstances, fuse together) later in life within a pre-existing DID system. As such, if the writers have been listening to the consulting specialist and doing their research, Marc/Steven's system has had DID since childhood, but Steven might still be new. Clues seem to point to having appeared (or at least taken over the role of host) a few months ago. Likely split off from Marc (as indicated by, among other things, sharing Layla's favorite poet and reflexively blurting out that he would never divorce her, as if he has vague memory fragments without context). It also seems from the first episode that Steven's role in the system may have something to do with protecting Marc from Khonshu and the violent lifestyle he pushes.

Yeah, it looked like it just kinda slipped out of his mouth...but yeah, the 2 disorders have VERY different symptoms. They are distinct enough that you can actually be diagnosed with both disorders. They can be comorbid. But the general public...often thinks they are the same thing. 🤦♀️
suraj mentioned DID later in the reaction so they seem to know it's a thing but they're not familiar with its symptoms bc they seem to get them confused.
if i remember correctly, the thing about DID is how there isn't really an "original" alter. cus it's usually developed when a person is a child, and therefore hasn't really developed a personality yet. so how it's explained is that there is a host alter, which is the alter who is most in 'control', but that doesn't mean that that alter is the one that in neurotypical terms is the "original". but i think it's correct to state that marc is probably one of the earlier alters, while steven is a new one.
@@calvintyler9281 bruh what??? it was cus *spoilers from comics* that nazi guy attacked him when he was a kid. after he attacked marc he told him basically that "[marc] would never be safe" and then vanished. this was the trauma that developed his DID.
I found the question about having a a British accent odd...Brits with a good ear for languages/accents can easily pick up American accents by watching, as kids, American movies/tv. Listen to any 60's band from England, they all sing with American accents because that is what these bands grew up with, musically--American rock-n-roll. Likewise, Marc could have watched any shows/movies from Britain as a child, Monty Python, James Bond or Dr. Who. He could have practiced having a British accent. And Layla indicates that he's good at fake identities, which would require some talent at faking accents and being good at languages. So, either Marc already knows how to sound British in order to create a fake identity (as Layla says of Steven), or maybe Steven has been around long enough to have perfected the accent. Remember, with this disorder, each personality *THINKS* it's "real." So Steven always thinks "I'm English" and would make every effort to talk as if he were. It's also clear that Marc has traveled a lot in his life. So, likely he's visited England several times, maybe even lived there, giving him a chance to polish that accent and acquire all the slang. Which is to say, it seems easy, to me, to understand how Marc/Steven came to have such an accent, one that sounds reasonably authentic and natural.
I think it was just a naive comment from them as they haven’t travelled much or lived abroad. They don’t really know. But your answer was insightful so hopefully they see it!
Marc is an avatar of Khonshu, Arthur is an avatar of Ammit. I'm pretty sure anyone with a connection to a god can see the jackals. Also, "Khonshu is an asshole" -- name one god throughout all mythology who isn't, really 😂
It's like Venom meets Memento meets Fight Club meets Night at the Museum meets Batman meets Minority Report. And obviously also LOST somehow, I'm sure.
5:50 Actually in DC they have several instances where they do mental health evaluations throughout the comics and shows. But in "Heroes in Crisis" comics one hero killed the other patients seeking help because of his instability.
I love that this show is a horror story for Steven and a supernatural action adventure for Marc. Yet it meshes well. The reuniting with better self sign on the bus is the GRC from Falcon and Winter Soldier, notably. Some comic bits (not even really spoilers): --the living statue is credited as Crawley, who is a homeless informant for Moon Knight in the...2016 run I think --the more dapper Mr. Knight suit is a distinct personality in the 2014 run and beyond, a super detective who works with the police. But slimming it down to Steven's suit is brilliant. --the two cops are listed as Billy and Bobby who supposedly are minions of Ammit in the 2016 run so that's neat.
Steven might have been one of Marcs alternate identities for his clandestine work. When his personalities split the new part took over one of his former fake identities. What clearly speaks for Marc as the OG is, that Marc knows exactly what is going on, Marc knows aboute Steve, but not vice-versa.
In the comics his hisyory has changed alot, but I believed the current continuity is that Marc was ALWAYS suffering from DPD from childhood trauma, and that Khonshu purposefully chose him because its easier to acclimate his different aspects on a "fractured mind".
There is a super therapist in Marvel named Doc Samson (Dr. Leonard Samson) and he has gamma based super strength. I would expect him to show up in the MCU eventually.
Actually he did show up in the MCU. He was the guy that Betty dated in The Incredible Hulk film back in 2008. They just haven’t bothered to use him at all since then.
Okay, the opening...with the Mooning Knight...and that intermission...great reaction, BTW. Suraj, it is nice to see you looking like you, and not a leaky faucet. :) And, yes, I've seen the moon on many a sunny day.
Sadly Marc didn't say he would leave when he was done, just that Steven would not see or hear from him again. The plan is probably to get rid of Steven.
Alters cannot be rid of at the host's will. DID is a mental disorder. Either Steven will be integrated with another identity, or he will choose not to front, or through Marc's therapy to slowly integrate as one. Marc cannot get rid off an alter on his own will.
@@airwaters i was just assuming it would be part of a deal with khonshu and not something that marc could just do on a whim otherwise marc would have ditched steven when marc started to be unable to take full control when he wanted.
Doc Samson in the Marvel Universe is a practicing psychiatrist and have tried to help the Hulk over the years. He is also gamma irradiated. There was also the recent Heroes in Crisis mini-series over at DC exploring the mental struggles of superheroes. There was an indie comic (or maybe it was an Image title particularly?) about a psychiatrist whose clientele were superheroes. It has a more comedic slant though. Reminder: Bast moved from Egypt to Wakanda in ancient times in this universe. I hope we get some reference to that. Maybe the other Egyptian gods are mad. Anyway, the other Egyptian gods are now in another dimension. That probably places limits on what they can affect in our world. Funny that (Suraj?) mentioned the need for a therapist for superheroes. Look up "Doctor Sampson." Like Doctor Strange, it's his real name, and he's a psychiatrist. He wants everyone to think of him as a psychiatrist who specializes in superheroes and supervillains, but of course, events keep conspiring to keep him in the superhero game himself. I love the fact that Khonshu is an a**hole. It makes the arguments inside the hero's head so much more entertaining. The final performance between Steven, Marc, and Khonshu was amazing. No, Rana, Marc was dead when Khonshu found him. He died near a temple of Khonshu, which is why Khonshu was able to intercept his soul before he reached the afterlife and make that bargain with him. Khonshu doesn't have any worshipers, only his avatar. Khonshu's overall goals are good, but he's a jerk and doesn't care about humanity, so he doesn't care how many people Marc kills to achieve his goals.

Spidey is always a fun add to the couch and I love seeing him more and more. A good mix of cool and intelligent perspective. And, no disrespect to Chris, Marketa looks FABULOUS 👌 🔥 😤. You've been killing the short hair, and your outfits are almost always one of the best part of every reaction over these past months. I love you guys, and thanks for the content you spend some much effort to make. Cheers, mates! (No, I'm not british lol)

Precrime is the same thing HYDRA wanted to do in Winter Soldier with Project Insight. Ammit's version is evil for the same reasons.
And Ammit’s people hiding everywhere in plain sight.
Can Ammit actually see the future though? Her cult leader made it sound that way, but it’s not like he’s unbiased. If she sees what you might do, that could be different than if she sees what you will do (if nobody intervenes). Hydra was making an educated guess, and their definition of crime was “opposes Hydra”. I think we need more info, because I don’t know what Ammit’s idea of crime is yet.

There are more than 9 Egyptian gods. The poster in episode 1 was about a specific group of them, and both Khonshu and Ammit aren't part of that group.

He was born as Marc Spector, there's a RUclips channel called Variant Comics that explains in depth history and origins of Moon Knight as well as Kohnshu.
It's better to find that out as you go. I made a mistake of looking into moon knight and now I know too much about the character. I can't go on a journey with these guys to learn about the characters anymore. That kind of ruin the experience of this show for me now. If you are new to moon knight do yourself a favor and finish this season first. Then look into moon knight if you're impatient with season 2
@@Dave_of_Mordor only if they go with the comic backstory exactly, there are multiple instances tv and film creators interpreting the backstory differently some good some bad.
I rather go in a half blind when watching a show keeps it interesting. I will look on Wikipedia to see who is involved in the show and the summary of what the show is about and that's it. I don't know who the writers or directors are other then names. My favorite shows turn out to be the ones I know little about the content or people involved.
@@Dave_of_Mordor that’s a little hard because marvel shows/tv don’t usually follow the comics. Like they already switched one thing up with Steven so it’s like oh well
I don’t think they want to watch an in-depth breakdown right now. They are asking as a part of natural discussion while reacting to a new show.
11:27 only they know the struggle lmao 🤣
I love this it feels like watching the show with a group of friends
Stop spoiling
@@passdoutcouchpotatos ???
Wrong. Whole episode 5 is about how it happened whem he was a child, loooong before Konshu
There are other avatars around---we've already met Bast's. He even got his own movie...
Glad someone mentioned this reference to Black Panther.

Damn Rena throwing shade at Egypt lol, I'm actually shocked she was so confident saying that on record. Calling a whole country dirty, I've been there too and I can think of a hundred things I would say about the country before that. Yeah, it looked like it just kinda slipped out of his mouth...but yeah, the 2 disorders have VERY different symptoms. They are distinct enough that you can actually be diagnosed with both disorders. They can be comorbid. But the general public...often thinks they are the same thing. 🤦♀️

if i remember correctly, the thing about DID is how there isn't really an "original" alter. cus it's usually developed when a person is a child, and therefore hasn't really developed a personality yet. so how it's explained is that there is a host alter, which is the alter who is most in 'control', but that doesn't mean that that alter is the one that in neurotypical terms is the "original".
but i think it's correct to state that marc is probably one of the earlier alters, while steven is a new one.
Marc doesn't have DID naturally it's because he died and khonshu didn't do the best job of resurrecting him.
@@calvintyler9281 bruh what??? it was cus *spoilers from comics* that nazi guy attacked him when he was a kid. after he attacked marc he told him basically that "[marc] would never be safe" and then vanished. this was the trauma that developed his DID.
20:25 "ooh shit, i know that was a backhand."

The Moon getting larger as the chase goes on is symbolic. Notice it goes back to being normal again after Marc kills the Jackal.

Yo I'm loving the new editing style. It really stands out as a original Normie thing; in my opinion. Love The Normie Squad
I love that this show is a horror story for Steven and a supernatural action adventure for Marc. Yet it meshes well.
The reuniting with better self sign on the bus is the GRC from Falcon and Winter Soldier, notably.
Some comic bits (not even really spoilers):
--the living statue is credited as Crawley, who is a homeless informant for Moon Knight in the...2016 run I think
--the more dapper Mr. Knight suit is a distinct personality in the 2014 run and beyond, a super detective who works with the police. But slimming it down to Steven's suit is brilliant.
--the two cops are listed as Billy and Bobby who supposedly are minions of Ammit in the 2016 run so that's neat.
Omg that sounded like Gonzos chickens from the muppets doing the marvel theme.... and I weirdly love it!

They are not real cops! Who does that?
The two brothers on the couch instant reaction is gold!!
Classic!
Steven might have been one of Marcs alternate identities for his clandestine work. When his personalities split the new part took over one of his former fake identities. What clearly speaks for Marc as the OG is, that Marc knows exactly what is going on, Marc knows aboute Steve, but not vice-versa.
The 1960's Batman music at the end of the skit.... great stuff.

@@airwaters yeah, Marc could choose to go dorment. Which I think is what that line is hinting at. Moreso than him integrating with another alter. 🤷♀️

I would love a comic book series where it's just super heroes going to therapy. It might already be a thing. Is it a thing?
Doc Samson in the Marvel Universe is a practicing psychiatrist and have tried to help the Hulk over the years. He is also gamma irradiated. There was also the recent Heroes in Crisis mini-series over at DC exploring the mental struggles of superheroes. There was an indie comic (or maybe it was an Image title particularly?) about a psychiatrist whose clientele were superheroes. It has a more comedic slant though. I just can't remember a lot of the details. I think it was published back in the early 00s or late 90s.
@@RandalReid thanks all that sounds pretty cool but I would love a serious like psychological deep drive.
@@kennystar27 Heroes in Crisis is what comes to mind then. It's not a regular series though and it assumes the reader has some knowledge about what's happening in the DCU at that point in time as well as who the characters are and what's their deal.

No, the funniest thing about that skit is seeing the camera man so clearly in the glasses lolololol
