      I totally agree! Love this so much! And I want to learn to mix strumming with finger picking and all of that spice. But I need things broken down even more! Maybe one video detailing how to read finger tabs and mix with strums? Maybe one video for each technique you showed here? I know a good amount of chords now--not in their different positions though. But just dipping into scales. Thanks!

    Really like this tutorial. Learned the blues A progression last night from another site and then stumbled upon this tutorial this morning and it “Spiced” things up a bit. I’m a real newbie and have only been playing for a month but with the pre-A7 lick, the D7 slide, the chuck, and the 3-5, 3-5-3 lick me and my beginners concert uke are starting to sound a lil’ bad-ass-just a lil.’ 😎 Thanks!🤘

    LOVE your stuff dude. The more of this stuff the better. I am not a naturally musical person, so learning how to express through the blues is a process for me. These types of videos though where you show how to drop fills into a progression and teach some good fills is a great starting point to build from and add my own. You are providing the structure that makes it all seem less daunting as a novice blues player.

      @TenThumbsProductions  8 лет назад +1

      +Lyle Reger Boom! That is EXACTLY what I want to do with these types of videos. Break things down, give you some fun examples to start with right away, but the building blocks for you to continue to grow on your own as well. Rad comment, made my day, look for more blues jams coming soon.

    Tyler, great content. Thank you! For some reason my A7 fingerpicking sequence doesn't sound like yours... I feel like after muting A7 at the end of the sequence and before starting A7 again with C sharp/hammer - I have too much of a GAP. which kinds breaks the melody... any tips on that ?

    • @TenThumbsProductions
      @TenThumbsProductions  7 лет назад

      Great question. One thing would be to focus on triplet timing, or playing three notes on one beat, like 1 - 2 - 3 - tri-po-la - 1 - 2 - 3 - tri-po-la, and the tripola part should happen over what would be the 4th beat, than move that around, like 1 - 2 - tri-po-la - 4. That should do it.

    Hey i just got my uke about a month ago and i've been playing it left handed, flipped upside down. should i re-string it to lefty or keep playing upside down so i can play on any ukelele? love your videos man, you've got a really relaxed teaching style

    • @TenThumbsProductions
      @TenThumbsProductions  7 лет назад

      Great question man, I would play it so your G string is the one closest to the ceiling and your A string is the closest to the floor, that will be the best for you moving forward.

    Hey Tyler, if I wanted to add a little harp to this, would I use a harp in 'A' ??
    Cheers for the blues dude!!

    • @TenThumbsProductions
      @TenThumbsProductions  8 лет назад

      +RHurworth That is a good question and I wish I had a better answer. I know it isn't A, because that would be A major, and you are looking for the A minor Pentatonic, which is actually built in the C major. So a C would work, but you have two notes in there, the B and F that you want to be careful with or avoid. I wish I could help you out more. Here is some light reading I found that hopefully could help you more. www.harmonicalessons.com/when_in.html

    • @MAL1C10US1NT3NT
      @MAL1C10US1NT3NT 6 лет назад +2

      Just thought I'd throw this out there in case someone stumbles on this question and wants to know. 10Thumbs is right you need a harp in C, which is relative to Am, and also the same exact scale, note for note (the chord progression your playing and whether your using C as the root or the 6th note of the C major scale (A), is what gives it that major or minor sound). Now blues is really cool b/c it takes a progression of all major chords w/ the added 7th and plays a minor pent over it including that flat 5th to get that really chill bluesy sound that we all know and love.
      As far as avoiding the B and F on a blues harp, I'm pretty sure that harp players just bend the note high to low by sucking really hard to a note that works. So the B to the root (A) and F to the 5th (G). Everyone should get blues harp. since they're in key and you never have to worry about playing a wrong note. They're really fun to hand to somebody who's thinks them self unmusical and then have them mess around while you play a chord progression in that key.

    Yo! At 10:45 when you do the cool trip-po-las on 7 & 8 (slide in E & A strings)-can you tell me what your left hand is doing in a little detail? Are you plucking both strings with index and middle? Like really quickly-or just strumming on those two strings? THANKS!
    PS im not going to tell anyone how to spend their money but i did the Patreon thing-its one dollar a month as i learn a ridiculous amount from you-I really appreciate your tutorials, thank you. I hope others do as well to keep you in our RUclips feeds.

    • @TenThumbsProductions
      @TenThumbsProductions  7 лет назад

      That is great, I a happy that you are so happy with the Patreon, that is the goal! Yes, so what I am dong plucking both strings with index and middle. In this style, depending on the triplet, I would use my thumb for either the G or C string and index on the E and middle on the A, that will give it that nice snappy blues sound.

    • @TenThumbsProductions
      @TenThumbsProductions  7 лет назад

      Hmmm, that depends on preference, I have a low G, but it isn't my go to Ukulele. Do you only have one? I would say keep it a high G, primarily because so much information on the internet is made for the high G, but not everyone would agree with my opinion on that.

    • @guydupont1190
      @guydupont1190 7 лет назад

      Yes I only have a high-G tenor. I play alone or with my girlfriend who has a high-G concert. We are beginners (I started 7 months ago and she did 3 months ago) and we try to fingerpick while the other strum when we play together; she usually sings also. Mainly folk/pop/soft rock/oldies; we discovered Travis picking which seems nice to add some base line... and there low-G seems advantageous...? But I adore blues (and hence was wondering the effect on the C# hammer sequence because I find the high-G sounds great...)
