- In this live ukulele tutorial I'll teach you how to play an Easy Blues Shuffle in A. Get my Blues Rhythm Course at bit.ly/2u3Ztkr
I love the Blues, from B.B. King to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Muddy Waters to Jimi Hendrix, I can't get enough.
Fortunate for us the Blues fits perfectly on the ukulele.
In our uke lesson today we will go over a 12 Bar Shuffle Blues in the key of A. Remember the Blues only uses 3 chords so in the key of A the chords will be the A chord (I), the D7 chord (IV) and the E7 chord (V).
But since this is a Shuffle Blues, unlike a straight Rock Blues like what Chuck Berry plays, I have to show you how to get the shuffle or swing feel.
Also we will be adding some moving melody notes within each chord to get a "boogie woogie" feel. Get you ukulele and let's rock.

Thanks for the blues lesson in A, I purchased my first uke, a black Tenor ukulele from OU a week ago, enjoying learning to play another string instrument.
You are welcome. So nice to hear from you and glad you added the ukulele to your collection.
Terry you're amazing it's Phil Murphy still having a battle with my hands but really enjoying you teaching.
I've heard of blown out speakers, but yours takes the cake!
That speaker caught on fire while I was playing a few years back. It was pretty spectacular.

Hi from South Australia
Iain
I like the we you have the diagrams in screen duringvthis live. Can you do them like that now with the IG and YT streams?
Thank you for the great lessons. You are an excellent teacher. What happened to your amp in the background?
Thank you. The speaker cabinet on the background which is a Fender circa the 1970's actually caught on fire when I was playing it.
Oh Wow, this was posted 2 years ago? Wanna learn THE BLUES✅😀 Will be taking your Mini Blues Course in September (2020)✅. Thanks Terry!😀
This was great 👍🏻 is the blues course on your site for beginners ?
Hi Allan from Newcastle upon Tyne
Hey Terry, thanks for the tutorial, it's great!
Question about the D6 chord. Isn't it supposed to be barred with all strings pressed on? (like shown in the picture)
Almost forgot ! Shout out to cool person Hi Sara!
Aloha Geno😎
Hi Sorry to ask one question. In E6th chord, why C# is missing in the chart?
hi
tried to get your blues lesson course, but it would not accept my card, can you help?
I want to know why D7 (Hawaiian form) or D6 here can have no D note ? And why E6 here has a D note rather than a B note ? Thanks
My fingers don't like E6, I have short fingers ... is there another option?
........ Hi
you look so damn swell my dude
Ah, thank you, I appreciate that.
I get the chords thanks but just cant get the shoulders and cheesy expression
Terry you need to turn it up, I couldn't hear you. Maybe you need bigger speakers??? : )
You must learn how to correctly pronounce the name of your instrument. When the Portuguese first brought this instrument to Hawaii the locals said it sounded like a “jumping” or dancing “flea”. A flea ( or lice) are called ukus- pronounced “ooh koos”. “Lele” means to jump or dance, pronounced laylay. So an ukulele is correctly pronounced oohkoolaylay, an ukulele, not a yukalaylee. Thanks
You are confusing those who are playing looking at TABS. You showed the third note in A for the shuffle but your D7 was disaster. You should have shown the 3 th shuffle note with the TABS. I don't get it. I am going somewhere else.
Thanks anyway.
