Thank you for highlighting this interesting bit of local history and for some beautiful video of the Ashtabula River trailhead. I've walked that trail many times. When the river is low you can make your way under the bridge without getting your feet wet and continue your hike to see the little scenic waterfall. There was a plan to continue the trail under the railway overpass with a steel bridge (one of seven intended to cross the river at various points) but funding never materialized. At the time of the Ashtabula Train Disaster the city was comparable in size to Cleveland or Erie, PA but after this Ashtabula never kept up. I realize you want to make this about ghosts and the supernatural but I've never experienced anything "paranormal" either near the site of the bridge or at Chestnut Grove Cemetery despite visiting both many times.
Thank you for the message! Yes it is a beautiful area. I wasn't originally looking for haunted stuff in this location, just to document the area. I actually went twice, the first time I didn't go far enough to find the bridge and there was nothing spooky. The second time was very different - maybe not all sense it or maybe it was just that day. I still recommend it though for those who are open to the paranormal and those who aren't. Thanks again.

I enjoyed this video. I only learned of this tragedy a few years ago. Being a life long Clevelander I was surpirsed I had never heard of it until recently. I also attended CWRU and the campus has a beautiful chapel named after Amasa Stone and several buildings named after Flora Stone Mather, Amasa's daughter. At the time I was attending CWRU, I had no idea about the Ashtabula train disaster or the connection to Amasa Stone.
Awesome place t bring my reggie used t live in bula and never once have i felt anything uneasy being around the railroad i knew the story n it never dcared me if anything i was always comfortable and relaxed
Spent many nights with friends at the disaster site and at that graveyard. Few strange things happened at the graveyard..nothing at the crash site. The homeless that live down by the crash site are something to fear tho. Also, jack Osbourne had a show called Haunted Highway. They did an episode called Bridge of death or something like that where they investigated both sites.
That graveyard is something. When we were there, there were some guys in the woods by the entrance . . . I was hoping they were fishing, but now I think they lived there. I'm glad we moved on quickly. Thank you for your message!

It is pretty there. Maybe the guy sleeping in the bushes up the trail (I didn't show him) spooked me!
My wife and I have been to the cemetery a few times, but we never felt anything, nor heard anything.

It's not really haunted I live in Ashtabula and fished near there and under there before nothing strange happened
