So much good information. Thanks for staying up late to share it with us. Would love to be a D23 member one day to get to experience all this. #goals 😊
Thanks guys for recording a podcast so late! So many exciting things happening. I appreciated both of your IG’s with keeping up with everything coming out! You both are doing a great job! ❤❤❤
Thank you both for being honest. As long time WDW nerds, we were very skeptical of some of the “big” announcements. I’m glad y’all discussed this honestly. I will add that my daughter is a cm at MK and she had no issues streaming. We watched someone on RUclips live-streaming it also
18:38 they can push back into the star cruiser parking lot. There is still a lot of cast member parking there and that area isn’t really needed anymore.
My prediction for the cars section/ villains section in Magic Kingdom is that there will be a hard transition from a bridge that goes over that part of the river. Villains land will be directly connected to fantasyland and the cars area will probably be connected through a tunnel close to Big Thunder. Also I really hope the Avatar land goes to the Hollywood backlot area and not the Redwood Creek area.
Thank you both so much for sharing with us! This all sounds SO exciting for DL and WDW. Really hoping it all happens!!! I’ve been following you both on IG all weekend 😊
I think the Villains land in MK makes perfect sense. all of the fairy tales have the fight between good and evil and without the bad guys you can't have the heroes. But I do feel the land needs an entrance a bit like Diagon Alley, so something like a dark creepy forest that leads you into the big reveal
Ideally the villain's land should have an entrance behind fantasy land. This would make the most sense but we will see. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the panel!
Nick, I completely agree with your take on having Villains at Disney. It’s the happiest/most magical place on earth. Not a place for darkness. There can be shadowy figures but with a side of camp.
The magic kingdom is a movie or a story that they are telling. From the minute you walk into the park, you should be immersed in the story. That’s why they have cast members and not Disney employees. How can you tell the Disney “magical” story without the villain or antagonist in it? You can’t. Otherwise, to try is to write an incomplete story or movie.
I agree with the whole Frontierland thing. Initially, the concept of Frontier was simply about everything outside the big cities in the Thirteen Colonies. And yes, that included forests and swamps, not just deserts. It was the unexplored wilderness. So to me, that concept can still exist today. Hence why I don't mind Frontierland becoming this "out of time" thing dedicated to the Frontiers as a whole.
Light and dark exist together. It’s kind of the way their movies have been going, so makes sense for the parks. Villains are no longer just evil, they are complex, they are regular people whose experiences have changed them (think Wish, good intentions, gone too far) light and dark are within 1, and now it will be at Magic Kingdom too
This is what I was waiting for. Love to hear both of your opinions on what has been announced. Look forward to more thoughts and future content on the rest of D23.
Thanks for the updates. 1. Nick cried. 2. Tim's notes are on his phone (nowhere in sight). OK got it! LOL Thanks guys. Looking forward to more excitement! 🎉😂❤
@@omnicognatesnr5947It was specifically mentioned that everything shown last night is in active development. A lot of it too already has shovels in the ground
You guys had me confused with the day of the week but always love seeing you. Speaking of which, I was watching Mr. Morrow yesterday and I saw the back of a tall guy on the jungle bus & said, Is that Tim. Then Morrow was in the big arena doing the cards & low and behold, there was the Timmeister sitting a few seats down. So it was like you were doing a little Hitchcock cameo. But looks like you both are having a good time.
I know these are initial reactions and it’s now 12+ hours later but a lot of the ‘where are these things going’ questions have had pretty solid rumours for years that make a lot of sense. Avatar going into Hollywood Land, Coco (since it won’t even start building for 2 years) will be Disneyland Forward. Monstropolis going into Animation Courtyard, Cars/Villains land beyond Big Thunder/possibly Tom Sawyer Island. The presentation was A+ outside of the Fortnite segment
In the background of the monsters inc concept art it looks like you can see the Epcot ball so I wonder if that’s an indication of where that land will go
Best thing about watching this was the epic universe ad 😂😂😂 idk…the cars plan sounds stupid to me. Monsters Inc, incredible as long as it’s done right. You forgot the nighttime parade!
In regards to the Cars in Frontierland thing, there actually is that natural progression of time you're talking about- Tiana lives in the 1920s, the era of the Model T. They said they were redefining the idea of "frontier" and they certainly meant it!
My hope is that they transition the progression well. I hope you don't just walk in from Adventureland and be like BAM, Lightning McQueen in your face. Or come off of Haunted Mansion, BOOM... Tow Mater saying "Howdy, yall!! I'm the rootin' tootin' most westernest ride in the wildernessss!!" ahead of Thunder Mountain.... I'm hoping it will be a little more subtle and integrated and tasteful. I love the theming of Carsland in DCA, but I'm not sure if it will mesh with the theming of Frontierland... But we will see.
From the concept art it looks like there getting rid of Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer’s Island to make the Cars land attraction. Because you can see the Liberty Belle dock in the picture.
Omg I can’t imagine Tom Sawyer island not being part of our MK visits. But, I would get it if they renovate that area to work for new attractions and experiences.
I think John Stamos just owns the Disneyland "D" from the sign. Can't wait to see your merch hauls when you're home! Thanks for staying up late for us!
If you have IG their stories are full of news. It’s great. Nick posted on Themeparkfrog yesterday for everything they’re talking about here. They both really did a great job keeping up!
My son went to college for art & animation. He has his BFA majoring in animation. Walt Disney is his idol. He hates seeing all these original animations being redone as live action and CGI. I agree. can’t they think of something new? I was excited to hear about the new experiences and rides being put in the parks, but it just seems like they focused quite a bit on redoing old movies.
100% agree to take out Indy at Hollywood. Enjoy the show, think its good, but that is a lot of space. Plus the lot space is a good portion that can be done by a garage. Side note, found it a bit interesting at Epic Universe is a large lot, vs a garage.
Makes sense. I also have no idea where the new additions to Hollywood Studios would go, as there's zero space other than parking lots on Google Maps. Disney has released concept art for the Cars area to replace Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island in Frontierland (Disneyland), but for Villan's Land, where in Magic Kingdom would that go? Behind Big Thunder is my guess, but would that also stop the River boat? So many questions..
Not sure if I missed you say about it but the one cool thing about the Epic Games stuff is them helping to develop out new stuff for Smugglers Run (unless I’ve misunderstood that part!)
If they got rid of rivers of America and Tom Sawyer island alone you'll have a ton of space. Odds are Villains area would make most sense to somehow attach near Haunted Mansion, which is very doable. The river can be drained out easily, seen it empty before. Plus think of the amount of area and how many people actually go there vs other parts of the park. Plus it would be nice to have a route on the opposite side by Thunder Mountain where it continues somewhere instead of just ending and backtracking.
This parks panel every time should be attraction, attraction, attraction, and that's exactly what we got this year, and I'm happy. I don't want to hear about food/restaurants, meet and greets, and new hotel/resorts. Those are always huge nothing burgers for me that have no meaning. Let those things be their own panel or exhibit. I'm pleased we got new attractions for all the parks because that's the only reason I go to Disney.
I thought Encanto was coming to Animal Kingdom? Also, Epic Universe is going to be EPIC have you seen the roller coaster the carts move just like Guardians Cosmic rewind?!! So insane and exciting
Hope the pizza was good...I laughed at Tim and Nick sitting on the floor eating pizza, rehashing parks news. I'm excited about the announcements, but I'm cautious about the Villians land. It'll be interesting to see what actually ends up happening. We know from past ride and land announcements, even in development attractions change. I've seen some people complain about no knew park, but with three new land concepts, I think its okay for now. I would guess in about two to three years we get a new park announcement for WDW.
I’ll state my bias that I’m a huge universal fan and not really a Disney fan, but I just don’t feel like the announcements they made at D23 come anywhere close to Epic Universe. They announced 2 lands among other things that were pretty much already known just now ‘confirmed’ whereas universal is building an entire park with multiple lands and so many rides/experiences. Maybe a hot take, but Disney just isn’t doing enough to draw in someone like me who doesn’t really have a strong reason to go. A 5th gate would’ve been WAY more enticing. I’ll postpone a Disney trip now by several more years to get multiple trips to Epic in first.
also crying hearing they are bringing an animatronic walt( to me thats kinda the coolest) Monsters Inc land would be crazy awesome! I am always here for change and I do not know if my heart can take getting ride on Tom Sawyer island. Too many good memories! I agree seems a little blue sky still to not say where these things are going eh?
Tim!! why are you walking to the convention center?! Take the 43 OCbus from the disneyland stop to katella or convention center way. It’s $2 one way or $4.50 for a day pass. It runs early and late, every 15-30 min depending on the time of day.
I’m thinking the villains land is going on Tom Sawyer Island. That is what would make the most sense. It separates it from the light hearted MK vibe. It’s perfect. I’m so excited
Cars land is frist part of beyond thunder mountain. Than Villains land is the second part look at old blue sky for beyond thunder mountain, they replaced cars land for coco in the picture. They have the area there .

Who would’ve thought that Tom Corless, the Eeyore of the Disney Internet community, was more positive about this panel than Tim Tracker was
I’m hoping it was just Tim tired because I thought the same thing. Tom was jumping for joy and Tim looked less than happy
Ideally the villain's land should have an entrance behind fantasy land. This would make the most sense but we will see. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the panel!

I agree Tom Sawyer island and the boat are toast. Or how about a ride that goes under the boat like Paris does big thunder
Cars and Villains go great together. Think about driving on Narcoossee, 417, I4, and 192…see?
