You realize big companies make the same amount of money from their games in a single year? 600 mil raised over 15 years isn’t a big amount of money for a game as insanely ambitious as SC is (also CIG confirmed more of the funds are going to Squadron 42, the single player game. They want to finish that then use more of the funds from that game to improve SC at a faster rate)
@@borgthepigyou are confusing dev budget for profit after the game has been released. For reference GTA 5, a huge game, cost just over 250 million. Hence why they have focused so much effort into it. Along with that, as I previously stated, CIG confirmed most of their money is being sent to Squadron 42. If you want to experience the good parts of SC, you have to persist through a lot of struggles. It sucks, but that's just how it is right now. The game is trying to do some really ambitious things, it's going to be a bumpy ride. The good news is that if you do put in the time and effort, the experience gets a lot better. You learn how to avoid or fix or work around most of the bugs. Half of the battle is just knowing the game well enough that you can identify what is a bug and what isn't. You're still at the mercy of the servers, but even that is easier to deal with when you have more experience. I don't know why you haven't been able to take off, but I bet I could solve it in about 15 minutes. Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely NOT something I recommend for everybody. Some people just don't want to deal with all of the mess, and that's fine. For some of us, what's underneath all of the mess is compelling enough to put up with it. For others, it's not. It's just a matter of personal preference.
It was a concept about 10 years ago. A few years later the game existed solely as a single hanger that you could go look at your ship in. But you couldn’t get in it, or takeoff or fly anywhere, because there was nowhere to go. There was nothing to do. It was a concept then. Now, there is an entire solar system with four planets, each having their own moons, and there are plenty of game loops to do, so while it is not a fully fleshed out game, and there are many bugs and issues, and certainly has come a lot farther than the critics want to give it credit for. Long way to go, and who knows: it could be another 10 years, I doubt it, but I’ve learned not to listen to any data set by anyone, including the developers. When it happens, it happens, until then we continue to test the software and provide data sets.
@@Brandon-bd8fk This is one of the simplest honest descriptions I have ever read. Every game starts somewhere. We have just been able to be a part of the ride a lot more than the other projects. Though many have tried to convince us otherwise. All they have proven, is that its not as easy as many would believe. Though the amount of money raised, suggests that it is very much desired by us gamers, and would be worth the effort. But no one as of yet, is willing to try.

Right now it's mostly a big sandbox, with a few basic theme park elements. But for some people, the sandbox and the toys are enough to get started. There are pirate orgs, paramedic orgs, racing orgs, mining orgs... and mil-sim orgs like UEE Pathfinders who run all sorts of combined arms red vs blue scenarios. But sure, it's "not really a game." When people say "it's not really a game," what they usually mean is it doesn't have the typical hand-holding theme park MMO experience, or a sense of long term progression. It doesn't tell you what to do and why to do it, or shower you with rewards every step of the way so you get a nice little dopamine hit. How do I get in on stuff like this? Usually when I play, it's like there's nobody on and any collaborative efforts seem to fall apart.
u need to find ppl to play with, if possible find like an org or smth, or maybe just a couple of friends, ya really need other ppl to play this game properly
I bought a pack years ago. Like YEARS ago. Then my pc broke. I never played the game.
Came back like 6 years later, found a buggy and broken mess of a game. Disappointing. Idk how y’all actually play this game. I could barely get off world without bugging out and crashing.
Yup sounds right, but when you get past that initial bug barrier, you can get to some awesome some stuff in this game, still buggy stuff tho lol
@@Gadubadish nah. There’s no “getting past” it. I attempted to play the game for a week. I have a top of the line 4090 with an i9 13900 and fiber internet with a gig of download speed. I don't get it, this game gets millions a year in funding yet it still takes this long to make a proper game? I understand its ambitious and all but all the resources that's been pouring into this game for several years now and barely anything to show for it
People defend this shit. It's incredible.
Star Citizen has received nearly 3 times that amount of funding, and still has massive performance and basic game engine issues after 12 years of development. If that’s not tragic I don’t know what is.
@@voltz7096 you also have to consider the fact that they are attempting something really no game has ever done before to this scale. The amount of things the servers have to handle is outstanding, and that will only ever continue to increase. They are trying to build the game engine from the ground up, trying to make 2 games at once, and they are also working on Server Meshing, and although I know very little about this technology, I understand the basic outline of what it does, and the fact that server meshing can solve almost every issue that plagues star citizen. Hence why they have focused so much effort into it.
Along with that, as I previously stated, CIG confirmed most of their money is being sent to Squadron 42. I also explained why they are wanting to do this.
Yea, 600 mil and 10 years of development with a very buggy game is quite absurd, but if you think about it more, it becomes more reasonable. 🤷♂️😅
It's obviously a scam full of copium
Something I'm excited for is going on exploration expeditions on this thing. Getting a science team ready in the hangar, getting all the crew and supplies onto a shuttle, then flying down to the planet surface while the ship stays in orbit with the rest of the crew.
@@jacksonbarkerthebluehairedfox well I am sorry to disappoint but that'll still take a while to come to fruition, it could very well happen one day though, I really, really hope
Got another $700 million and 10 years? You've been robbed.
The fact Voidy managed to help steal a ship without exploding 50 times is the amazing part.
The Idris shooting at a small fast movie target makes a lot of sense, if CIG have set it up right then defence against torpedoes will be a priority for these ships... Flying on what is basically a person carrying torpedo with no warhead is what makes you target number one 🤣
This game will still be in Beta 20 years from now after it's been crowd-funded to the GDP of a small country...

That'll be when Squadron 42 is out sadly.

@@Gadubadish Yeah i played a lot of 3.23 but only with 2-3 people or solo.
i know the fps element is bad, but i dunno try headshots....
CoD on release is usually bad. This is downright unplayable performance. If you want to have FPS, at a minimum, the enemies need to not glitch around and randomly fire/ cause you to take dmg with 0 visual indication other than random bullets flying around 30 seconds later and your health bad finally catching up. Someone with no game dev experience could make a more stable shooter game with Unreal in a few months.
@@DistortedChristthat's the thing... that's Unreal engine for ya... just blueprints and stuff... easy to work with
Now try doing the same thing on your own engine you made lol
@@DistortedChrist Yes... if they just wanted to make a "stable shooter game," that would be stupidly easy because it's been done a million times already. SC is already doing things that no other game has done, and it is NOT easy.
No other game can put 100 people on a map the size of a star system, and let them travel all over the map with no loading screens. Interior, exterior, planet/moon surface, in atmo, in space, underground, etc. Not to mention the fact that they are traveling all over the system in ships and vehicles that are built with the detail of a flight sim.
If you're not impressed by what SC is doing, you simply don't know enough about it yet. Yeah the performance is rough, but that's to be expected at this point. It's still just getting started.
@@neofromthewarnerbrothersic145 you have no loading screen but you have 5+ minutes of travel
maybe do the system smaller and make loading screen beetwin systems so you don't have boring as fuck gameplay with palyable amount of FPS :)
the fact is that this "early acces" is out and you pay 60$ for the standard game, sorry but "it's a new engine" doesn't excuse for an UNPLAYABLE and boring gameplay with nothing to do if not going to point B from point A with a travel time of 5+ minute if you're lucky

You can play it for as little as 45$ everything else you can get in the game. But you could also buy every ship with real money and spend like 15k or more. But if you do that, it is fully your decision. So people complaining about it just complain about the possibility that they make a stupid decision which would be entirely their problem
@@blacekree3103 Just look at how much money people waste on terrible mobile games with no substance to them. At least here, the money spent goes back into game development instead of some con-artists wallet.

I’ve played on and off since 2019, this video wasn’t enough to get me to try this patch again. All that lag and jank would just put me off completely. I will wait for 4.0 and try it for a couple weeks see if it’s improved, if not it’ll be another wait for yet another patch.
How about just waiting till server meshing is implemented fully supposedly by 1.0 the release version after 4.0. game will stay janky till then.
@@MadStyle1911 Because, like everything, that shit will be buggy as hell when it comes out. This is a game where you get brief moments of stability, only for them to ruin the servers with some shit they know isn't working right. Oh everything has been running great for players this week?
The other day I step into an elevator and found my self floating in space! I froze to death and lost my favorite armor set😡
I wont get used to it because i know this isnt a game and never will be.
Cool. Later!
Fantastic timing with the music, entering the airlock! Gorgeous editing!
That was me that got you on the Idris in the heavy amour lol
Lol no way!
To be fair. This doesnt look like game. More like a concept of an idea. Am i wrong?
It's a game in its earliest stages, too big to be a concept
This one trying to be huge, and do it all. So its going to take a while.
So far, no other space game has done, or is trying to do, what SC is trying to be. Though many have tried to convince us otherwise.
All they have proven, is that its not as easy as many would believe.
Though the amount of money raised, suggests that it is very much desired by us gamers, and would be worth the effort. But no one as of yet, is willing to try.
Yep, it's still a bunch of ideas flying in close formation. It's not really a game at this point, just a very dressed up VRChat
There's a reason the studio head has to set up a new studio each time they get involved in a project…
@@ThePlayerOfGames This whole "game" of semantics is so tedious.
Star Citizen is, unequivocally, a game. You can play it. Lots of people are always online playing it, 24/7.
You can debate what _kind_ of game it is, or how good/bad you think it is. But it is, in fact, a game. A very incomplete/buggy/janky game... but a game.
But sure, it's "not really a game."
When people say "it's not really a game," what they usually mean is it doesn't have the typical hand-holding theme park MMO experience, or a sense of long term progression. It doesn't tell you what to do and why to do it, or shower you with rewards every step of the way so you get a nice little dopamine hit. It will have more of those elements at some point because it's trying to do literally everything... but I don't know if it will ever be the kind of "game" you are looking for.
