Thank you for validating my decision on getting orange fly line for my new 8wt setup. We have a night season over here in Nova Scotia, Canada for brown trout, and with my green-tipped line, I lost sight of my line very quickly as I lost light in the evening. Can't wait for the high vis!
Thanks for being here!
Placed my first order with MRO! I’m so grateful for you all, these videos have helped me so much (I’m new to the sport!). I was excited to finally support and do business with MRO with a purchase of the Cortland hi-vis in 5-wt along with some other little goodies. I’ll be back soon!
Thanks so much for the support. We appreciate it.
Another great informative video. I always thought that the darker lines indicated sinking lines and the floating lines were always lighter colour. As per usual, I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos
Thanks for watching but you may have that wrong? Sinking lines are always dark colored....at least the sinking portion.
Wow, I have always wondered this. Thanks for the vid.!
Thanks for being here.
I wondered the same. I love your channel because it’s so informative and educational! I’ve learned so much from y’all!
Finally someone that can make sense of this for me!!
Happy to help! Thanks for watching.
When scuba diving, it seems the reds and oranges disappear first - just seem light and dark. Yellow stands out the most, but looking up from depth, again is just light and dark.
Thanks for watching!
Red is camouflage for deep blue, thats why a lot of deep sea fish are bright red. But in shallow water the light spectrum doesnt get to make the water soo blue as to consider red a good camouflage color.
Its the whole light spectrum of colors penetrate shallow water not just blue, where the red could be used as camo.
Thanks for this, now I don't have to go get all olive drab or muted color fly lines. Now if I can just keep them away from the fish! Keep the good stuff coming.
Thanks for being here.
Thank you! Someone had to remind some people.
Thanks for watching.
well I got a reel full of the orange stuff that's been sitting un touched in a bag for years so I'll try it! Will sure make practice casting easier lol.
Thanks for watching.
I just started fly fishing about a year ago and have orange line on my cheap walmart setup. Once I learned how to cast I started catching fish. Sometimes I even catch them on a bad cast.
Thanks for sharing. Even bad casts can sometimes catch fish!!!
I love my bright lines. In my experience the only time fly line colour really matters is with clear intermediates on still waters. If you fish a full clear intermediate on a very bright day it can transmit surface light down its length making it brighter than the background and I really think fish can notice it.
Thanks for being here and pretty good point. Much more coming on this subject so please stay tuned.
Hey guys! Nice vid!
Thanks for watching.
@@Madriveroutfitters your welcome!
Some guys at my local river laugh at me for using high vis fly line, they say it scares the fish, now I feel better about it. Thanks
Glad to help. Let them laugh.
They must be bad casters?
Can't wait to see them again and re visit this. I just assumed they were right cuz im a young fly fisherman
@@jordanliggett2487 Don’t ever assume. Most conventional wisdom in the world of fly fishing is wrong.
All wise words.
Thanks for watching.
COOLEST Dude On RUclips !!!
Thanks for being here.
Great info. I have first hand experience with this. I’ve used orange fly line for quite some time. When I’m having a good casting day, I’ll catch plenty of fish. On a bad casting (windy) day, I won’t catch any. Likely due to bad casting spooking fish. Approach with the fly and presentation is the only thing that matters.
Thanks for backing us up and for watching.
Legitimately thought that was Mario in the thumbnail lol
Thanks for sharing that! Makes sense.
Worst mistake I ever made was to go to the salt with a clear fly line. All I did the first day was piss off my guide because I could not see the line and fly in the air. Spooked fish all day. The next day I switched to a bright green line and it made my week. Any one want a clear salt water line?
Sorry, we don't. Thanks for watching though.
Yeah new zealand! 😎
