Kenneth has “no regrets” & enjoys his fishing, his TV … & no one is shooting at him! So please refrain from judgements. Thanks for sharing your story Kenneth & good luck for you!
Can't understand his Accent is a private fact, not a judgement. Maybe best to know what truth is before judging yourself against others
@@janetarcher6527 yeah wasn’t talking about judging his accent so feel free to leave your paranoia at the door. Have a nice day now!
@@janetarcher6527; In no way did craigs4798 judge himself against others. Are you a nut case? Take your Xanax cocktail and go to your closet.
Yes, people ! If you have nothing nice to say. Don’t say nothing.
Kenneth may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but I'd bet my life he's happier than 99% of you city folks. He has no unbearable bank notes, no car payments & he is single. Yes he may lack something's most of us have but he will continue living just as he is....himself. No acts, no fear of acceptance & he will go fishing and watch the girls swim. lol. Wish him the best & healthiest life to come. Thanks Mark for your admirable work.
He's happy because he doesn't know any better, never been out of the state
Bless his heart. Interesting how he associates being in love with being married- something you don’t hear anymore ❤.
Thank you for sharing your life with us Kenny.
I struggled to understand his accent so i decided to switch on the subtitles. That was a rollercoaster ride in itself
I live somewhat near these people and can understand him. I'll translate anything he said, if you want.
theres a transcript
@@gjh9299 Yeah, I looked at it. It's more fucked up than JFK's skull, but thanks for the info. What would I know....
@@gjh9299 yeah, the transcript is more effed up than JFK's skull, but thanks for the reply. It really helped.
@@Russellsagecline 🤣😂😂
Reuploaded hopefully he recieves more positive comments. Thank you for sharing your life!
Was it taken down?
Bless his sweet heart. Thank you Mark for your compassion.
I pray for Kenneth to feel love and find passion in life despite its challenges and the unfairness of resource distribution on this beautiful planet.
I think we would fully understand what poor really is if we visited some of these recent locations that Mark has filmed.
Exactly right
I live in one ! Rocky Top, Tennessee. Sometimes I think there’s something in the water!
@@margaretwebb389 Something in the water? "Something In The Water Manchester" was meant for another Manchester, although it doesn't really matter at this point, they need it in Kentucky, Tennessee, everywhere..
@@Chungalhunga Actually, inbreeding might have more to do with it, coupled with moonshine, meth, and fentanyl. Something in the water is just a generalization. Sarcasm
@@Chungalhunga Generalized sarcasm!
Thank you, Kenneth. Sending all good wishes your way!
I’d be happy to do the translations for the subtitles for the Appalachian community. I was born and raised in Eastern KY. We tend to leave out a lot of consonants 🤦🏼♀️
I have no way of knowing, but in my own opinion, I think this man suffers from gross developmental delays and mentally, at least anxiety. My mother was a genius. A literal genius. However, she suffered with terrible schizophrenia. My only child is adult age and suffers from gross developmental delay (rounds out to be intellectually about 5 yrs old) and classic autism. Drugs are not in the picture. This guy genuinely reminds me of both my mother and my kid. Both his speech and his behaviors/body language. Given their ages, if any of you were to stumble upon one of them on their own, I can only imagine what drug problems you’d ASSUME they have without knowing what’s wrong.
I concur!
Good insight ❤️
he said he does meth tho
Exactly!!
@@420Lethaldid he? I couldn’t understand much of what he said.
Sending Kenneth love and respect from these NC blue ridge mountains.
Everyone has a story to tell. Thanks Mark.☺️☺️☺️
I chose this interview because this man has such a kind face, now I see that's mirrored in his personality. I can't know him from a short interview of course but I reckon he's a real good soul and a lovely person.
Sorry for your loss, Kenny
As someone who grew up in deep Appalachia, I understood every word he said. 😅🤷🏼♀️
I can't be the only one?!?!
I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and understood every word. That's what happens when you travel. :)
born and raised and still here 45mins from the area this was filmed actually
I understood...😊
I've surprised some people are saying they understood everything he said. I've spent years listening to speakers of different languages, including 25 years as a court stenographer reporting verbatim the words of virtually unintelligible specialists and I also speak 3+ languages myself. But much of this interview flew by me despite repeated careful listenings. Maybe some people's computers or phones have better speakers or sound than others?
Maybe those who did understand could do the rest of us a great service and transcribe this here in the comments. I did that (transcribed a long interview by Mark of a somewhat mumbly alcoholic named Red, I think). It's a lot of work but it would be very greatly appreciated by the rest of us.
I can’t understand one thing this gentleman is saying !
Mark is doing good work.i enjoy the interviews and all the different ppl and places.my soft spot is for Appalachian ppl
What a sweet guy. Very honest
I wish Kenneth the best and hopefully he has a support system.
I agree ~ Kenneth has intellectual disabilities. I think he is very brave to go on camera & be on the web forever. What a wonderful soul... thank you Kenneth. Love, Vermont
I used to live in a little “Holler” in Tenn. Met quite a few people who thought I was from another planet when I told them I was from San Francisco, Ca. Great people and good times spent there..
Thank you Mark......this was a hard interview and you hung in there!! Kenneth seems like a pretty nice guy!
Sending love ❤ from 🇨🇦 Canada, Kenneth....take care
Bless his heart. He said he drank a little bit but he had bad nerves. He loves fishing and watching TV.
From the Appalachia myself & still here, I love it here. We are some of the upmost genuine people out here. I inderstand Kenneths accent very well. I hope life treats him well.
Born and raised in Manchester. Still live here today. What’s been shown from our area is real but there’s a bright side to it as well. I come from a great family, college educated, parents always worked. It’s a rough area but there’s some of the most wonderful people you’ve ever met. It’s all about what you make of it
I'm a West, from Manchester.
there's a lot of love there. a lot of good people.
Life by circumstance is a special miracle. Thankyou for sharing your story caring for your family is a giant lovely accomplishment. I love the simple living too.bless you sir for sharing with an audience. I wish you the best.would love to hear of your fishing adventures too.thankyou mark .
Such innocence and vulnerablity it hurts me. Will have to see this one with pauses. Just too overwhelmed by emotion. Want to pass along: blessings to Kenneth. Safety and love to him always
Quite honestly, I was followed by a couple dudes for about 40 miles in the hills of Kentucky back in the 70s and was scared to death. I was never so relieved in my life then when I finally got back on the interstate. They parked on the overpass and watched me while cackling. True story! All I could think of was Deliverance 🥺
This gentleman has developmental disabilities. Such a sweet person.
Thank you Kenny for sharing.
I have family and friends in that region of Kentucky. Manchester. Corbin. London Somerset. The poverty is hard to take. But the people are so kind. I actually live in the Lousville Ky area. I still go for visits in Easten Ky. It’s refreshing. Love these people My family
Thank you for sharing sending love from Canada.
God bless Kenneth
In early High School I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Oneida Baptist Institute for a Summer Session. Coming from a family that was well off humbled me when I was able to visit that part of the state. When you visit Clay County you step back in time. At the time there were still wooden bridges that crossed creeks and rivers that were maintained by the state.
I miss the bridges.
I remember being really small and holding my dad's hand while he took me for a walk that went over one.
What a sweet guy. Wish him all the best. 🍀
Good for Kenneth. He seems happy,
I am a southern. And have worked all over the south. It isn’t a speech impediment. Perhaps the most difficult to understand person I have ever heard. Only a few times it has been a struggle for me to understand but accent or not that was BAD.
Feel sorry for that man ability for someone to understand him.
Bless him.
A genuine heart.
I wish you every happiness sweet boy. Stay safe.
Uh, he’s a man…..not a boy.
God-bless this man
Wow, poor guy. Would love to meet his little brother and sister
(OUT OF PURE LOVE)-I'd Love to smoke a blunt with Kenneth and talk about Nascar and fishing!!
IMAGINE Kenneth stoned drinking a mtn dew and smoking a Marlboro red and laughing at a joke !! 😂! Damn ive got to find this man, he reminds me of Boonehire from king of the hill!!
I’ve seen him on the side of the road with his bicycle a lot waving at cars go by sometimes he just yells at them tho
😂
❤ sweet fella.
Mark come to west Tennessee very north west corner poorest county in Tennessee I think!! I live in a small town with a population of 200 people it’s called Samburg, TN it’s beautiful here but the drugs is awful
I live in carroll co,Tn
Love his heart. ❤️
as we say here in Tennessee. bless his heart
Bless him❤❤❤
God love him. In all actuality, he had a good life. I understood probably 95 percent of what he said. I'm used to his accent, I'm one county away from Clay County. I pray God keeps him safe and he continues to enjoy his life.
You learn so much from others , 😮💨
I stopped in to see if i was the only one who couldnt understand Kenneth.
Someone mentioned they thought he had a hearing problem. I was born deaf in my right ear, and as a result i was given a seat front and center in my classroom. All it did for me was to make me feel singled out. Decades later my second husband said he feels i had such a hard time in school was because i was more intelligent than i let on and i was not being stimulated. Perhaps this is what happened to Kenneth? No one saw his true potential. Maybe if he had a change in venue his life would have been very different.
He does seem happy tho.
BTW im now in my 60s and along with the 100% hearing loss in one ear abd more than 60% in my keft....when i pull my hearing aid out, there is bliss in not being able to hear much of the shit thats buzzing around in the world. Silence when chosen. Is bliss.
Mark. Im also a native Chicagoan. My teen and young adult years where spent in Schaumburg. Transplanted to Southern California some 45 years ago. Damn i miss having a hot dog stand on every street corner.
I live in the next county over from Clay. This man obviously has a mental disability that affects his speech, that is why he get “a check” SSI is Social Security Income, which is a disability monthly check. A lot of ppl I know from Clay County have a very thick appalachian accent like this man, his is just harder to understand because of his disability.
Sending love ❤️
I do want better for people. That doesn’t mean more stuff. A person like Keneth would benefit from some loving care to help deal with any medical, physical, and emotional trauma he has obviously withstood.
I have known people much more clear minded and less wounded, these ppl have had head injuries and I see some similarities with Keneth. Subdural hematoma was one I can directly associate to what I see here, although Keneth probably has not had that injury.
Thank you, Mark
Im from the same county as him, cannot understand a word he says, we all have accents, thata not his issue. Bless his heart
Bless him Lord
Take care Keneth❤
I live in Knox county ky… but I do pass through clay county a lot
We need subtitles!!
Go to the top and turn them on
Wow, Mark.
Bless his heart i dont think he does drugs at all. As a matter of fact i dont think he really knows what they are. 🙏🙏🙏
He drank a little bit and stuff, but he wasn't a math head.He was pretty messed up after his mom died. That's why he had to put his a** aside Check-in his daddy's name. You need a translator❤ i'm from The hills of Hills of the appalachian mountains❤ He doesn't understand you
i like this guy
Reminds me of a boy my mother (raised in rural N.C.) told me about
Boy: "All I do is eat, sleep, and balk (walk) around"
Kenneth is rad!
What's a great guy good luck
God love him. ❤🙏🏻♥️
I love real honest people from 1 to 10000. Im smitten
Look up Jeremy Sandford from Britain 🇬🇧 great writer.. he did Kathy come home.. plus more ❤
We need subtitles real bad
WOW!
Oh my gosh. This man has a hard life.
Poor man is slow. Probably lives an awesome simple life. Better than most of us.
I'm from Russia and have no problems understanding
I grew up the road from Kenneth & his family ... he's always been a good boy ... he never done meth ... but he loved a cold beer & would drink beer every day with my Dad when they went fishing ... he doesn't understand what marks asking on some of the questions ,so he will just agree if you dont get up close and explain ... him & his brothers did the best they could & took care of his poor mom & dad till they passed away ... they was poor but happier than most with alot money ... my dad used pick him and his other brother up take them fishing cause he knew they loved to just sit & fish and have a beer & my dad loved the company cause they were just simple & their self ... I have some great memories with kenny and his late brother's wayne & shakey ...
My son would fight bear over Kenny or his brother's ... lol ... some great memories with this family ..... and thanks to everyone for all the love & positive vibes for this sweet boy !!!
I struggled so hard to understand him 😑
I understood him perfectly.
At least it sounds like you chose to understand what he was saying. Closed captions along with Mark repeating and clarifying what Kenneth said should have been all the help needed to follow the conversation. Keep in mind that his struggle to be understood is probably much greater than anyone's struggle to understand him, and not just because of his accent.
❤
Love this dude!!
I'm Appalachian and I forget my age sometimes too
I dont think its an appalachian problem....its an old age problem....happens to all of us at some point
@@kimglass4851 I'm 37🤣
@@baghodler508 🤔😂😂
There’s a lot of stories on country folks.
God bless him.
I don't want to speculate, but it seems Kenneth is quite hard of hearing. His struggle in school very well could have been due to poor hearing.
I was wondering the same thing because Mark had to keep repeating. But there may also be a metal disability because he does seem to have an issue in comprehending certain things
@@kiki11974Possibly a little bit of both including a processing issue. One of my nephews has a processing issue which is typical of someone who is developmentally delayed and/or on the adhd/autism spectrum.
He was probably in need of special needs schooling when he was young but in poorer school districts, there isn't enough funding to help students.
Never been in love 😢
I had to read the transcript to try to understand. Sad.
Re-uploaded?
To fix the title at the beginning of the video, which previously stated "Appalachian Woman - Kenneth". The error was likely carried over from the previous interview with Selena.
@@karenfryberger4260 ahhhh, ok. Thanks a bunch! I hadn’t noticed when I viewed it this morning.
he's from where my family is from. I spent lots of time there.
the ignorance I've seen in comments here and fb piss me off.
people have no idea what they're talking about.
DAMN
What was he in jail for?
I love you
Subtitles please !!!
I put on CC and it had no idea what he was saying 🎉🎉
Here we go
He said stayed in jail long time though mark how long did you stay 60!days 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Trust me 60 days in jail is a long time if you are the one doing it. It’s the boardum that gets you. Jail doesn’t have any privileges like prison does
I get a check. I hear that everyday
So you or people you know have a significant disability? This gentle person has one or more disabilities that came long before any drug use; probably born with them. Is it that hard to see or hear?
No I heard what he said. I also heard he uses meth. So what happens to this gentle soul is a drug dealer knows he gets a check and takes advantage of that.
@@karenfryberger4260You nailed it- try COMPASSION! We are all creatures worthy of love and respect.
@@tammymoore6126you also heard that he doesn’t know how old he is. That he’s NEVER been able to get a job. That he stayed with his parents until they died and THEN had to figure out how to switch the Ssi recipient so that he could support himself with that check. You heard that he didn’t give a clear answer to nearly anything, but if you were really listening, the drug “meth” question was led. He didn’t say it himself. As in, it was assumed he did drugs. Not confirmed. People who receive SSI have a proven significant disability that prevents them from working or having had worked. It is Not the same as someone who worked and then got into drugs. This was like interviewing a 1st grader with intellectual disabilities and then using a single interviewer-led question to make a snide comment about how you hear that everyday. 😒
This video needs subtitles.
I wish him the best. I'm sure he has alot about his life story to tell, but has trouble communicating it.
I’m pretty certain that when Mark asked him “What do you do for fun?” His answer was “Go to the creek and watch women swim” I have to admit that concerns me a little, hopefully I either misunderstood him or he intentions are innocent in nature
Shoot, I like going down to the crick and watching the women swim too !!! 😂
watch people swim
where he lives is close to a swimming spot so he just hangs around people watching
I don’t know what the heck the guy is saying I’m gonna see how to add subtitles
😂
