Hey cleat look into getting yourself a 650 Kawasaki superjet stand up jet ski .... I had one when I was in highschool and I was 6,6 280 pounds and that thing would rip with me on it ..... Look like you were riding a Yamaha 550 a couple of my buddies had those and I whoop them every time

The attention Cleetus alone has brought to this particular water sport can't be overstated.
I grew up watching it on speedvision. I'm guessing cleet did too, you can tell he watched and loved the channel by some of his content. I predict he'll be building a swamp buggy next.
That's just the cleetus factor. Anything he does he gives it his all and brings notoriety to it.
I've been going to the races in Port Angeles since the track opened and there has never been this amount of boats I watched 13 hours of racing this weekend it's great seeing what he did to the sport

The co-pilot is pointing out the turns. Same as for rally drivers.
@@vancemccarthy2554 in the beginning of the video Cleetus said he'd already memorized it, but yeah, Spencer memorized it too, but my point still stands. Also, Rally co pilots have a notebook with notes. This course has to be memorized.

The POV shot of him driving that boat is absolutely insane racing. You even saw that one split second of hesitation and he just flew off the track and then pulled a huge save at the end when he hit the water again. That's pure racing talent right there, and I'm here for it!

Gotta admit, I think I like these jet sprint boat videos the most. I’m amazed that the navigator can remember the course and the driver can react to the hand signals so well! Its also amazing that these boats can virtually turn on a dime! Very impressive all around and love this content!
Driver memorizes the course too. Usually they won’t even look at the hand signals. But the navigator is there as a backup in case the driver has a brain fart and forgets
I think that signals from Spence are just a backup. There is no way he hasn't learned the course himself, you can't go all out while being directed where to go. I'd be lost after the first turn though, major credit to both guys for catching on so quickly.

thing with those boats is they're like indycar/F1 cars.. they're not designed to go slow, the faster they go the more grip they have to the water..... until they don't. if you happened to watch the event stream there were a few people that tried to put put around the track just to get a time and they looked completely out of control. heck one of them couldn't even make one of the corners and beached it doing 15 mph.
@@sirmonkey1985 sames kinda true when putting them back on the trailer too. Go slow and your going to drift all over the place.
The livestream/broadcast of this whole sport should ALWAYS include in-boat camera views. It literally makes it twice as fun to watch.
they only have 3 people handling the live stream.. maybe in due time but trying to get the teams to make sure the camera's are running is going to be a pain given how chaotic the launch area is with boats going in and out.

Unfortunately the track is right next door to a municipal airport so there are a lot of hoops to jump through to get FAA clearance there for drones.
@@jasonkeith5537 a drone with a wide angle lens would need to go up high enough for any clearance requirement i would think, but yea idk too bad.

I've been around jet boats for my whole life, including sprint boats. For cleetus to have the thought to crank the steering and floor it like that to regain some control of the boat was so awesome. He is so good.
I have seen so many people panic over the years make mistakes in far less stressful situations than airborne over an island forget to use throttle to regain control.

Cleetus get a VR headset to rewatch your footage in. I do this when I track race and don't want to spend the whole day learning the track and making dumb errors. I get a good run on camera. Then sit in the car, without audio, rewatching it till the next session starts. Once I get a fast run on camera I'll turn on the audio. With the runs in this sport being under a minute you could get hundreds of runs in before eliminations.
I've never seen anything like this before, I can only imagine how fun that must be. Great content brother!

It originally began in New Zealand, so that would be a good place to start looking for more of it, it's also highly likely that's why Cleet got the boat from there.

I love how humble cleetus is. He is an artist with anything he drives/flys and he isnt full of himself.
