Taylor heads to the Torchys on Guadalupe for a full serving of tacos, queso, and flavorful life advice.
Best queso ever
Was in Houston in 2017 and I remember the first time I went in and had the trailer park and the chicken/waffles tacos. DAMN THEY WERE GOOD. Loved it so much that I went back everyday I was there for the next 4 months.
Came back to India the same year and not a day goes by that I don't think about those damn good tacos and that queso.
I'm heading to Canada to settle soon, if the pandemic doesn't kill that dream, and I'm gonna reach out to Mike to see if he can help me set up a franchisee there. I definitely wanna be eating Torchy's everyday for the test of my life.
Which tacos were your favorites?
Best queso I've ever tried 2 weeks ago
These tacos are great, and the queso is unbelievable. Clearly, Arth and Alfredo do not understand the concept at Torchy's- they never, ever call themselves "authentic"- Mike says in the video that he had lots of tacos but wanted to put his own twist on tacos. I've been all over the world and spent months in South America, and I actually lived in Mexico for a while and Mike is right, after a while, all of the "authentic" tacos taste the same. When I want an authentic taco, I can choose from a thousand hole in the wall taco joints, when I want a taco, but crave something different, I go to Torchy's and they NEVER disappoint.
Treats employees like dookie
@@lesbokilla7 I would bet 80% of restaurant workers would say that about their employer. It's a hard life in the restaurant business, that's why I didn't stay long- but the experience was very beneficial.
@@JimAlba thanks for that perspective
@@lesbokilla7He really doesn’t. Mike is honestly a great dude. There’s a reason the company is growing so well. Culture
I've never had torchys tacos.. I live in Michigan :/ I hope one day to go to Texas and have some Torchy's... Seems like a good business with damn good food lol
johan fretzen no it’s a expensive Taco Bell
Torchy's tacos are disgusting. Hipster garbage. They mix flavors and sweet sauces, and its just gross labeled as crafty...Along with Freebirds, and the like, anyone with any appreciation for real Mexican food isn't getting anywhere near this place.
don't listen to these idiots in the comment section they have no clue what they are saying. U will love Torchy's! It's awesome but if you skip out on the queso ur missing a big part of the experience haha!
yeah im from michigan myself and torchys was one of the first things i ate 6 years ago when i moved to texas..Dont listen to these two morons saying they are bad..they probably actually think taco bell is good
Not saying Torchys is authentic but they are some of the best tacos you will ever have..id say 9 out of 10 people down in texas like torchys lol
@@MrDrainBramaged Disagree and Taco Bell is grilled vomit. Welcome to Texas. Torchy's is Austin hipster garbage & is gross. Authenticity or not, they blend cheap tasting flavors together that barely work alone, let alone in consort. I had this supposedly BBQ pork taco, which was covered with this corn syrupy cheap sweet bbq sauce which triggered a gag reflex. Never again. There are so many places around Texas where you can get excellent texmex or even gringo styled "mexican" food that's far far superior to torchy's. Torchy's is really for hipsters and/or people new to Texas who don't have much of a palate (yet ;P)
The food is so bland and they got rid of the best options. Basically expensive Taco Bell now.
Great Interview! Love Torchy’s.
When I first heard of Torchy's Tacos, I instantly recalled Taco Torch near Texas State University in San Marcos. I suppose the name came from the 3 natural gas torches burning in front of the restaurant (?) In 1978 you would get three tacos for a dollar - then stuff them with all the lettuce and tomato (and some major extra spillover) when starving and your money had run out. If you were on a 5-day meal plan, Burger Chef and Taco Torch saved your ass on the weekends. Also, Wuest's grocery store deli near the interstate served four greasy beef-on-a-bun BBQ sandwiches for a dollar... 😋
Love this interview, love the Tipsy Chick it has so much love in it!
Hands down the best queso in the world
3:53 “Nervous as a pregnant nun.” 😂
