  • If I had a dollar for every chicken I had roasted, well I’d be a penny behind Elon Musk! I remember my mother roasting chicken for the family on a Sunday. I’d walk in the house at dinner time to this amazing smell wafting through the kitchen. Even at the palace roast chicken was often on the menu, but not as often as it was when I started cooking for prince William and harry. They loved it, even asked for it to be on the menu.
Here I take the worry out of roasting a chicken at home with just a few simple steps and even fewer ingredients and share a delicious chicken gravy to compliment it.
Gloves the chefs use when working with raw meat... amzn.to/40tMQ3K

    Roast Chicken
    Serves 4
    1 3-4lb whole chicken (organic/air chilled)
    2 TBS Kosher salt
    2 TBS flour
1 cup chicken broth (more if needed)
    1 pinch black pepper
    serve with mashed potatoes
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Farenheit. Remove the chicken from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking.
Place the chicken on a tray and sprinkle liberally with salt all over. Place the chicken onto a wire rack over a baking sheet and place in the oven. Cook for 1 hour 15 minutes or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the chicken from the oven and to a plate to rest.
Scrape the pan juices into a saucepan on the stove and add the flour and stir. heat the tray over the stove and add the chicken broth. Carefully stir while scraping any sediment off the bottom of the tray. once all of the sediment has been released add it all to the pan. Stir and heat. Add more chicken broth as needed to correct the consistency and season with the black pepper.
Break the chicken into four portions and serve with the chicken gravy and mashed potatoes.

The online and youtube chefs have to make things seem complicated or they'll lose their jobs, if it's easy why would we need them? You're a hero for demystifying a simple process. The simpler the better. But why oh why am I watching this at 2:00 AM? I'm starving!

What a breath of fresh air! None of that pretentious bullcrap infesting almost every other YT cooking tutorial. Everything here done the 'right way'...from that fantastic gravy to easily portioning the meat using your hands (and a clean pair of cheap gloves). Perfectly seasoned with lots of cooks bits when you separate. Made it for the family and the kids demolished it. Gravy was spot on too

As the man of the house I always cook whatever meat we have. Of course my wife does everything else, but, I “did the meat” so it seems the credit goes to me. Far from the truth in our house. I am the boss and my wife said I could say so. Thanks a million Darren.

Also, the paperwork to work in the U.K. has discouraged Eastern European workers so the U.K. has had a shortage of people to work in the industry. According to multiple sources including Reuters.

Love your channel and just ordered your cookbook...looks fabulous....I love fruit and cake dishes and cream, and lots of lemons
in everything. Your Royal Tea on the Sun Princess cruise line looks wonderful and I watched several videos on that. You will soon
be very rich and famous I predict...but we have all of these wonderful videos on You Tube that you have made and I thank you
    and your staff for that.

Love this one. Takes all the fuss and intimibation away from roasting a chicken. Love!

Made this whole chicken last night for the family along with the gravy, fantastic!

Yummy! Yummy! One more ingredient, water or broth in the tray helps to make the gravy easier (won't stick on the tray).
