- The UK’s Women’s Equality party was founded in 2015 as a reaction to how Britain’s 51 percent female population still isn’t properly represented in the halls of political power, earns substantially less than men, and how parental responsibilities aren't shared equally - which it says also penalizes fathers.
“The current system is bad for everyone, equality is good for everyone!” leader and London mayoral candidate Sophie Walker exclaims, as the party gears up for its first election on May 5.
VICE News goes door knocking with the Women’s Equality party ahead of the vote to find out what they’re up against and if Londoners are ready for gender equality. Their goal? To make London the first city in the world where men and women enjoy equal social status.

I think it's more than that. I have never worked to get a woman and I don't really give a shit what they think they want in a man. In my experience it's just more important for a man to be actually productive. Of course, the degree to which this is true varies among men but it is almost universally truer for men than it is for women.

That said, the gender gap is extremly small in most European countries. Of all western countries America has one of the biggest gender gaps with ~5%. But that doesn't account for racism. Studies suggest white women earn about $0.02 for every dollar a white man makes. Take away the fact that the 1% best payed people are 99% men, and it's basically zero.
As for VICE news, no, London will not be the first gender equal city. Statistically speaking at least one city in the UK is already gender equal.
And as for feminism, I would love to say that I am one, but the media has ruined it's image to the point that most of it's members don't even seek the things it stands for: Giving women a equal opportunity politically, socially, personally and economically. In short, a feminist should fight for giving women the right to vote and to take part in politics, giving them the right to get a job, protecting them from being harmed, and of course most importantly that society should think the same.
Instead, neo-feminists seem to think they should stand for "men should open the door for me", "I am pregnant so I have the right to steal your seat", or "These images of half-naked girls should be forbidden".
A real feminist would go to Islamic countries to fight for a womens right to vote, or for a chance to get a job, but aparently they think that they themselves are more important than the people who are actually not treated equal. The media supporting this neo-feminist movement only makes things worse for those people who actually need feminism.

Do you think corporations care about their workers sex? They don't give a shit, they will always hire the best people possible for the least amount of money possible. Their in it for the money. The fact that women make 80¢ for every $1 men make is a useless statistic that the media for some reason loves. The ratio is the _average anual salary_, so not even the most basic factors like education, hours worked or age are taken into account.
If '(neo-)feminists' really want to close the gender gap, they should be focusing on the problems in countries where women _actually_ get payed less with the same education, same work hours, etc., like the Islamic countries.

I'm all for equality. But first make sure women are required for drafting as well. Give men rights to take child custody as an option and women pay for alimony as an option as well. During a fire incident, women shouldn't be prioritized over men when rescuing.

It's not like there's a law limiting the number of women in parliament. If the majority of women wanted to go into politics then we'd see higher numbers, same with men and early years teaching. It's a matter of choice and there's nothing wrong with that.

Force women to act exactly like men in every way. Take away their free choices in life and make them watch sports, get engineering degrees, urinate upright, ect. Once you have done that, then "statistically" men and women can be equal.

Under every first world legal system Men and Women are equal. The reason you see these differences between men and women is due to the fact that MEN AND WOMEN ARE DIFFERENT. Biologically, mentally, physically, in just about every way imaginable men and women are not equal in one way or another. Due to this we see them being treated different in society, as they should be. The pay gap doesn't exist due to discrimination, if it did, then smart, nondescriminatory companies (some are led by women, so you must assume SOME aren't entirely biased) would hire mostly or only women.
The sheer level of ignorance and refusal to look at facts as facts is appalling.

A quota system is terrible and undemocratic and inefficient, if 10 women are the most qualified on a cabinet, then they should be on there, if 5 men and 5 women are the most qualified, then they should be on there, if 10 men are the most qualified, they should be on there, have a meritocratic system where the best are selected, not a fukin quota system. Spaskiba They want to feel and act like they are victims of a misogynistic culture. The pay gap is a myth and is derived from the total median salaries of all men vs women. It does not account for hours worked, occupation, education level or any other factors. When you account for this it virtually disappears. They probably do think they do not have equal pay because of their bias and so they are trying to close a non existing gap. They talk about how women are under represented in Parliament. However, anyone can run and it is a democratic process. Forcing it to be 50/50 is the opposite and it has nothing to do with what the people want, or who does the better job. Everyone hates them because they paint themselves as victims when they clearly are not, and they want to change society to help stop their non existing oppression.

I like feminism but I don't know why most feminists make it only about women, but not men. If feminists voice concerns about men getting unequal treatment, then more men would support feminism also. As men, we don't like how we are expected to pay more for women, or do more hard work because we were born men. We don't like how there are jobs that only women can apply, but not men. There are discrimination on both genders, and feminists shouldn't make it just about women. They will never get majority support like that.
