Originally thought to be an April Fools joke, it turns out that Capcom really did hide a one-hit-kills weapon in Mega Man X. That platform in Armored Armadillo's stage always did seem a little strange. Unlike the later games, collecting the Hadoken is much more time consuming.
Hetfield managed to improve the previous run ( tasvideos.org/2771M ) by 6.5 seconds, thanks to better lag reduction and overall better optimisation. Please read the author's comments ( tasvideos.org/5181S ) for more details.

I know TASBot never needs extra lives but it physically hurt to watch him skip it at the start of Chill Penguin
He crossed almost the entire stage by jumping on the side of a boomerang captured platform. I seriously learn something new every time I see another speedrun or TAS run.
that's the magic carpet, a phantom grab. you need to collect one drop with the boomerang 1 frame (0.0167 second) before another item spawns on screen, so when the item loads into the game's memory it won't spawn in the right place, but inside your boomerang. not every item though, there's 1 specific class of items that can get phantom grabbed. thats how the eagle magic carpet works. That specific class of items is usually called "Misc Items"

Jultix Nope. Unless if there is an improvement found in the stage, then it is physically impossible to improve that stage. The game has reached an endpoint of improvements until someone finds another improvement

i like to think that megaman's loss of upgrades is a different universe megaman in every game. it just makes more sense than magically losing everything.

I never used Boomerang Cutter on the optional boss in Sting Chamelion's stage because I thought it wouldn't leave me with enough for Chameleon himself. It never occurred to me that an enemy could drop weapon energy to refill it.
In a regular Speedrun, you kill that optional boss with 18 boomerangs and five dash lemons. That leaves you with enough ammo to kill Chameleon with the rest of your boomerangs + one dash lemon.
TFW you look in the comments and you see people who don't get what the point of a TAS is and complain about the run

My guess would be to help with the haduken later? I also noted they didnt grab the heart tank on the way that time. Maybe was worried more about saving time beating armored armadillo and knew they could cone back later for the tank duribg haduken?

Curious as to the reason for intentionally dying on the final platform jump on Armored Armadillo? I tried looking for notes as to why it was done, but to no avail
Mark LeMoine Ight so the first time was to retrieve that heart tank and the other times was bcuz in order to get hadouken, u needed to be at full health
That's how you unlock the hadoken, which can oneshot most bosses.

X can only dash with the Leg Upgrade in This Game (Including the PSP Remake). Starting in Mega man X2, X can Dash Without the Leg Upgrade.

i find it funny they coded the big eye boss final moving part, with the walls enclosed, to be weak to the 100% upgrade.
Like why? is it just cause every boss is weak to it? or did they just happen to code that in for the lols?
it's kinda weird that the final boss is immune to it, but not something that you can't use it on normally.

Judging by how this occurs at Sigma's first stage as it turns into a propellor, I think he executes a bug to make the game look through its file directory and loaded sprites. Which is why it turned into a platform in Storm Eagle's stage.

It's actually pretty simple! See, in between stages, X obtained a secret pod that enabled him to bend reality to his will, and he chose to create a platform that allowed him to essentially BLJ like Mario.
In fact, if you listen closely, you can hear X going " *YAYAYAYYAYAYYAYAYAYYAYAYYAYAAYYAYAYAYYAYAYYAYAYAYYAYYAYAYYAHOOOOOO*

That may be on purpose. The RNG in MMX1 is based on a number of things, that can be manipulated in a TAS (exact frame, enemies killed, wall-slides). Maybe he manipulates RNG for extra life because he will need them to get the Hadouken.

Why did he get hit in the Chill Penguin rematch and then grab an energy in the next room? Wouldn't he save time by not getting hit at all and skipping the freeze the energy creates?
My best guess is that it's faster to get hit and take the energy than it is to wait the boss' ice spitting attack out for a chance at a clean shot

You'd be surprised how many of these strats people go for in RTA. Phantom grab of the boss door is a real thing, as is the Armored Armadillo refight skip.

TAS times from power on till end of input, which differs from how RTA runs are timed, which is gain control of character to last hit on final boss. The reason TAS does this is that the TAS itself is merely a series of timestamped button presses, and they time based on the length of the input sequence. When applied to a specific game and played back at normal speed, it gives the impression of superhuman skill and execution.

It can if the enemy is able to make it down to a part of the wall the hadoken can reach. The only truly unkillable enemy is the very final enemy you face, because armor.

Yep. When you obtain 100% of every upgrade and enemy weapon type, if you can pull off a chain of riding the last Minecart out and leap off to die at least twice, the secret pod will be there, exactly as shown in the TAS.
If you punch in any passcodes, the upgrade is completely inaccessible, making it a good incentive to play from the start.
Edit: why the fuck did minecart get changed to Minecraft? Anyway, fixed it
you need to see that spot where the capsule appears a total of 5 times, and in the last one you need all items and full life. ez like that. i'm p sure you can get it even if you use passwords. to execute the hado just slide your finger from down to forward and shoot

Like what? Was there a permanent upgrade that was not obtained, or are you talking about extra lives and refills of health and ammo?
Just for the record, though the runner passes up the health tank near the end of Armored Armadillo's stage a couple of times, it is eventually collected by the boomerang fired at 23:06.

Like Marcos said, you can't even obtain the Hadoken upgrade if you do not have 100% prior (and if you use a password to cheese it, it's completely inaccessible)
