Thank you, Nadine, for this lovely video. I have been in hospital and rehab since the end of June, recovering from a bad accident, and my rats are being cared for by friends. Seeing the videos of your boys has done my heart good while I've been missing my own boys. I hope you will get to enjoy Alfie, Bertie, and Oskar for a good long time. They are sweet boys, and they and you are lucky to have one another.

Oskar, Bertie and Alfie are still doing well but Bertie needs a lot of extra food to keep him from losing weight. Alfie is the opposite, if I am not careful he gains weight ;-).

They are little charakters, all of them! I wish you a great oldie-time with the gang, it is sad that they live not long , but when they are gone, you really can say that they have had a decent live and much of fun. Give them a cuddle from me, best wishes, Susan
That was super duper cute!!! Like watching a little movie. I LOVE IT!!! The hoop trick was amazing. I only have one rat now that her cage mate passed away. Daisy and Gumdrop (still alive) seeing this video makes me miss her.

It is always difficult when you have one rat left, I normally got new rats when I was down to 2 but at the moment I am not sure if I want new rats for a while as it hurts so much losing them. Maybe I need a break now. We will see. The hoop trick is actually quite easy to train, you don`t even need a clicker. You just need a hoop and need to get the rat interested in it. They start playing around with it and when they manage to push it up with their feet you give them a treat. Do this each time they push the hoop up. Once they know how to do it you give them a treat when they walk through the hoop as well. My rats only needed a few days to learn this trick :-).
yeah my heart broke when i found her she and gumdrop were my first rats gumdrop was depressed at first but i downgraded her cage to a 1 level CN and spent tons of time with her and now she seems fine i dont know if ill get anymore for a while either maybe we'll try the hoop trick if she feeling up to it (shes kinda old and only runs around some days)
Yes, the fluffy fur is normal, it always depends what type of hair a rat has so most is genetic. I always fed my rats in the morning and in the evening but mostly fruit and veg and a handful of dry food per day.

He is still doing well and I hope I will have him for a while yet. I am currently working on a little film showing what Oskar is up to now. Will upload it later this week.

What do you do if you live in the city and they expect you to get rid of wild mice? These wild deer mice are just as cute. I don't handle them but I can trap them humanely. And they also can get the bait out of 3 different traps without being caught!
I don`t get my rats from a rattery. They are all from private people via Gumtree. Apart from one time when I got rats which were ill (Charlie, Timmy and Mickey) they were all great rats. I got Bertie, Theo, Oskar and Alfie from a woman in London. Alfie and Theo are Siamese rats, Oskar and Bertie could be Burmese, but I am not sure. They are all Dumbo rats :-)
I don`t have rats for a while anymore, so I sort of have given up already ;-). But I am glad I still have all the videos on You Tube and it is great other people can enjoy them as well.
I grow quite a lot of produce on the allotment and some of it such as pumpkins and potatoes I store at home. Luckily the rats are not very interested and are not nibbling everything.

They get really funny when they got older. I love it. More relaxed then zooming around like my new rats.
