french CAESAR is the best artillery system ever in my opinion, well served it is realy devastating ! you fire your shells and when they hit the target you have already left the position....just unbelievable! war is sad......
@@QLEK99 They are both good at shoot and scoot. The PzH 2000 leads combat effectiveness in offering MRSI, armor protection for its personnell and difficult terrain mobility allowing it to traverse and hide in forests. The obvious benefit of the Caesar is better deployment capability as it can just travel at 100 kmph on normal roads whereas the PzH 2000 relies on railway transport for longer distances similar to any armored tanks. It could potentially travel anywhere on its own tracks at 60 kmph, but it would be a humongous fuel guzzler and not quite such a comfortable trip for its crew.
The Swedish Archer is a great artillery system too. It operates fully automatically, the crew does not even need to leave the cabin. The deployment is even faster than Caesar's. It can fire 5 rounds and leave the position before the first round hits the target.
The french certainly have a history of making and using artillery with great effectiveness this fire and move ability gives the ukrainians a distinct advantage in some engagments especially given how in terms of artillery they are outgunned. Being able to deploy and move extends the longevity of artillery giving it less vulnerability to counterbattery fire
The whole idea of French Caesar is a failure. Bulky, noisy, heavy, needs proper roads, easy to spot. Cannot go covert, needs specialised maintenance. That's not a good thing. Just asked Greece with their French weapon supply. They got so pissed with the French they dissed Rafale and went for f35.

I very much like this particular artillery system. The relatively fast mobility, and capability to move off-road make this system particularly valuable. Someday we will know more about how targets are determined and immediately relayed to the crews on the ground so that the intended Russian targets are pulverized.
Drones. They have many teams which are constantly reconning the enemy. You can also do it with boots on the ground but drones are idea as they can paint the target in IR allowing for guided munitions. Then there's a post-engagement damage assessment.
@@davidmurphy563 yep, drones for sure. I'm kind of thinking though that UK, US and French satellite data is also in the picture. Scatter a combination of 100 Caesars, M777 and other howitzers across a 150 mile front and you could rain down artillery shells on an enemy platoon at the rate of 1 per second without them even knowing where to counter. These weapons can do some real damage to an invading force.

That was also my MOS/job back in the 90s when I was in the US Army, stateside (4th Infantry Division, 3rd Battalion/29th Field Artillery, Bravo Battery), and then in Germany (2nd Armored Division, 2nd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, Charlie Battery. We operated/fired from the Mechanized M109A 155mm self-propelled howitzer system, which is currently the standard equipment in today's Army, except now they call them PALADINS, because each single howitzer has their own GPS - Gyro navigation system, so each howitzer can shoot individually or as a group, all firing at the same time for maximum effect, on time, on target. But I only got to load and fire during cross training sessions because the two jobs were split back then, because each howitzer didn't yet have their own GPS. Back then, our firing position was determined by a single Gyro navigation system, and each howitzer had to be surveyed and sited in, usually by our platoon sergeant(Smoke), who conducted the surveying/laying process. Once our firing position was accurately determined, we were ready to finalize meteorological data(current weather patterns), check and verify safety, and receive fire missions. Shooting fire missions was fun, but all the other aches and pains of training for realistic battle was not very fun, but they trained us as close as you can get to reality without actually killing anyone. I was in during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, but the first Iraq War only lasted a very short number of days, and a ceasefire was called, and our unit never got deployed. I believe America was justified in kicking Iraq back out of Kuwait, but they lied to us about the 2nd Iraq war, of which I was already out of military service and not a part of. Anyways. a big thank you to the country of France for sending these amazing howitzers to Ukraine, which will help them defend and take back their country and remain a sovereign nation.
Thank you for your service, and I would love to see the Ukrainians master the artillery to the point that firing from several different units and locations miles apart is able to land their shots within 3 to 5 seconds of each other on a target.

"If" Putin starts WW3... it will end *VERY BADLY FOR HIM !!!* Here's Why>>> Russia has USA on Alert... these are sitting close to Russia and very very ready>>> For you folks interested in USA nuclear capabilities, this is a pretty detailed and fascinating look at U.S. modern Navy. *And how many subs would it take to eliminate all the hostile territories in the Middle East or Russia ? Just 1!* The U.S. Navy has 18 of the most deadly and feared weapons ever created. Meet the Ohio-class submarine. In naval terms, it makes up the Fleet Ballistic Missile subs (FBMs). These 18 weapons are also known as "Trident" subs because they're a part of America 's "Nuclear Triad". The Ohio-class along w/our Navy's smaller attack subs are nearly impossible for our adversaries to locate. But they know 1 thing... 18 Ohio-class subs are lurking somewhere around the world. For defensive/offensive attack abilities against other subs, all 18 have 4 533mm Mark 48 torpedo tubes. Depending on depth of launch, they travel at speeds up to 63 mph and detonate using a proximity fuse (when the torpedo senses the opponent's sub/ship). 14 of these subs are ballistic missile submarines (SSBN). And 4 have been converted to guided missile submarines (SSGN). The 8 oldest of 14 SSBN carry the following nuclear armament: 24 Trident I/C4 missiles that cover a range of 4,600 miles. What can they launch? For reference, a kiloton (kt.) = 220,462,262 lbs. A single kt. is over 220.4 million pounds. Each missile has Multiple Independently targetable Reentry Vehicle (MIRV). MIRVs are capable of being aimed at hitting multiple different targets with nuclear warheads. A single missile carries 8 thermonuclear warheads that can break-off to hit up to 8 targets with 100 kilotons of TNT (total of 800 kt. of TNT). For perspective, “Fat Man”-the largest of the 2 nukes dropped to end WWII had a total of 21kt of TNT. The 10 newer SSBNs armament: 24 Trident II/C5 missiles that cover a range of 7,000 mi. Each Trident II SLBM missile can carry 12 MIRV thermonuclear warheads...these can hit 12 targets w/up to 475 kt. of TNT (total of 5,700 kt. of TNT). A single missile from these 10 Ohio-class subs: equal to 1,256,634,893,400 pounds of TNT as in -1 trillion 2 hundred 56 million plus lbs. of BOOM. Upgraded 4 SSGN Guided Missile subs armament: 22 tubes w/7 Tomahawk Cruise Missiles (total 154). Tomahawks are versatile. They can be equipped with thermonuclear warheads. In addition, the SSGNs can be used to deliver many other specialized weapons such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)... and more... US Air Force/Space Force have their play too, definitely standing ready... Thought You Might Like This Info 💀🌹

So why would Sweden send jets to Ukraine if nobody know how to use them?? Somethimes people have to think a little but before typing just annything that dont make sense
The Archers would be great, but not the Gripens. Aircraft take far too long to learn how to operate and maintain in combat. Sweden can send Gripens to Slovakia and Bulgaria, so they can give up their MiG-29s to Ukraine instead.
@@domitravel795 That's what I used to think too. But from what we have seen, Ukrainians learn fast. An experienced Ukrainian fighter pilot can probably learn to fly a Gripen in a few months.
I was thrilled when our government sent almost 100 M777's to the Ukrainians, but from the beginning I felt like Ukraine would've been better served with SELF-PROPELLED artillery like these Caesars or American M109 Paladins. The type of war these guys are now fighting isn't one where you can just park a battery of M777s in one spot like we did in Afghanistan and sit there for days or weeks or even months and keep firing while never worrying about getting hit back. We've already seen one Russian attack on M777s where they dropped a munition from a drone. Thankfully for Ukraine, the Russians are total incompetents and instead of calling in an airstrike or an artillery strike or even an MLRS strike on the M777s, they instead dropped what was basically ONE HAND GRENADE on the Ukrainians and it landed like 20 feet away from everybody. I have no doubt that shrapnel hit at least one M777, and it obviously COULD HAVE caused some damage. But it appears that the Ukrainians were able to pack up and leave before the Russians could launch a more devastating attack. But that just highlights my point. I'm sure the Ukrainians are extremely grateful to have over 100 M777s, but I think they would be BETTER SERVED with more Caesars or Paladins or whatever type of self-propelled 155mm artillery "the West" is willing to send, even if those platforms have a shorter firing range than the M777s. The Ukrainians need to be able to "shoot and scoot" because their supply of NATO artillery is far, FAR lower than the endless supply of Soviet junk that the Russians have. And just like we saw in WW2 with things like the Sherman vs Tigers or Panthers, sometimes having far more of an inferior weapons system is better than having just a few examples of a far superior system. The Ukrainians need about FIVE HUNDRED M109 Paladins/Caesars/etc. to really take the fight to the invading orcs.
Towed howitzers doesn’t mean they can’t be moved.. 😉 When i served we where drilled to be as fast in and out of position as possible. At that time we didn’t really have anything but towed howitzers either. Anyway it’s a big part of to be successful. The adversary that was foreseen is the same Ukraine has to deal with now..☹️ The m777 is a really lightweight howitzer that in it self should promote the ease of handling in comparison to many other howitzers of the same caliber. Ukraine would probably need at least 500 towed and at least 100 self propelled 155mm to make a difference. There’s still a lot do to get there..
Agreed Johnny and Elg. They need MORE of everything. Better to utilize their motivated troops NOW...then slowly starve them of the equipment and supplies which could lead to their defeat. Strike now...before the war moves to another country.
@@drawingdead9025 the M777 is good in that perspective and it’s light! Only half of the weight of a corresponding one (155K83). Easier to move around with a lighter truck. And if the towing truck breaks down it can be exchanged fast!

It would be if they started from civilians but in this case, I assume that they're the Ukrainian equivalent of trained US artillery batteries containing platoons and squads of trained officers, NCOs, and enlisted cannon crewmembers. No the PzH 2000 are even better
@@mkmc94 i think this one has the upehand when it comes to mobility, which is crucial for the survivability of SPGs
@@losarpettystrakos7687 ....the Archer is less precise, its maintenance is complicated, its price is exorbitant

Counter barrage is not an operation but a tactic as well.
I'm really liking this mobile Artillery. Thanks FRANCE! SLAVA UKRAINI!
Too sensitive of subject matter to be battered about in the free press, but I have to surmise that satellite data from these nations is part of the process. Will be vital to be able to make the UK MRLS and US HIMARS work to their optimal potentials.
Scatter a combination of 100 Caesars, M777 and other howitzers across a 150 mile front and you could rain down artillery shells on an enemy platoon at the rate of 1 per second without them even knowing where to counter. These weapons can do some real damage to an invading force.

In addition, the SSGNs can be used to deliver many other specialized weapons such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)... and more...
The Ukrainians need about FIVE HUNDRED M109 Paladins/Caesars/etc. to really take the fight to the invading orcs.
it is a light gun some 4 tons and can be towed away. What are you rambling about.
Towed howitzers doesn’t mean they can’t be moved.. 😉 When i served we where drilled to be as fast in and out of position as possible. At that time we didn’t really have anything but towed howitzers either. Anyway it’s a big part of to be successful. The adversary that was foreseen is the same Ukraine has to deal with now..☹️
The m777 is a really lightweight howitzer that in it self should promote the ease of handling in comparison to many other howitzers of the same caliber.
Pretty they were supplied M109s as well as M777s. But M109s are cranky beasts, hope the maintainers are up to the job.
@@drawingdead9025 the M777 is good in that perspective and it’s light! Only half of the weight of a corresponding one (155K83). Easier to move around with a lighter truck. And if the towing truck breaks down it can be exchanged fast!

these are so much better than the american towed artillery, drive into a field, shoot and gone in under 5 minutes.
MLRS & HIMARS will be good to see too. Towed Artillery works for American because they always have Air superiority!
@@abhilashpradhan7671 The U.S. has air superiority mostly because the enemy doesn't have that much for aircraft. Even the Russian aircraft are mostly just sitting in hangers rotting.
The US have sent M109 self-propelled howitzers as well, and the UK sent towed howitzers too. Ukraine needs a full mix of weapons systems, not only one kind. Towed howitzers and self-propelled ones are employed differently and both are needed.
The caesar system is relatively new compared to the current US 155mm that’s why
@@abhilashpradhan7671 They brought HIMARS to Romania
It's amazing that the UA can field these guns whilst fighting Russia in an open war. How Russia is unable to take out this heavy material whilst -theoratically- having airsuperiority and the large airforce that it has, is beyond me. What a paper tiger has Russia turned out to be and what absolute bosses are the Ukrainians.
100% this. I've been saying that for a while now. basically, without nukes the Russian military is shit. that's it in a nutshell. half their equipment is outdated and/or doesn't work and their morale sucks. again, without considering nukes, if they were head-to-head with a NATO Army, NATO would obliterate the Russian army.
Ukrainians have a cause. The only cause.

Russia took the bait and by invading the Ukraine it became a Rogue State. Bye Putin! Also the US became the Gas supplier of Europe and is making a lot of money selling weapons to Europe. Indeed. I hope that France and neighbouring countries can keep the ammo coming to keep them operational. Wait what! At 0:35 the guy is named roman and he talk about the canon caesar lol 😂
It's impressive that they learned to use the equipment so fast .
It would be if they started from civilians but in this case, I assume that they're the Ukrainian equivalent of trained US artillery batteries containing platoons and squads of trained officers, NCOs, and enlisted cannon crewmembers. So all that needs to be done is to be trained on the specific artillery piece not on how to do the basic cannoneer jobs.
Prepping for years and love of country - priceless motivation.
When you have so much, on the line, it is understandable
@@tylerdurden-zq5lz The Cesar artillery system had already been sold to other countries than France, so the manuals and user interface were probably already written in English.
