    very nice like the simplicity and using many hand powered tools in the video for many years Wood workers in general have been over engineering sanding blocks ?? they all do the same thing there isn’t any need to re invent the wheel

    I think this simple design is quite elegant. It has all the elements required without complicating setup and use. And it's easy to vary to suit the maker's needs, such as modifying the size to fit the sandpaper to be used. Well done. I've already made two and plan to make two more.

    Grest job mate, but please can you tell me the dimentions? Thank you so much. 😁

    • @AlansWoodworking
      @AlansWoodworking  3 года назад +1

      Thanks. The dimensions are Length 10 cm, width 6.5, depth 4.5. The overall dimensions were detemined by the width of the sandpaper (it's from a roll) and the width of the scrap fence paling that I used. Have fun!

    Very well done, but honestly it is too much work and too many materials to make a simple sander.

    Pules los cantos con una lima teniendo una lijadora de banda y después alineas con una lima redonda un emparejado entre madera? No tiene mucho sentido!

    • @AlansWoodworking
      @AlansWoodworking  4 года назад +1

      Probé diferentes técnicas para ver qué daba los mejores resultados. Mi primer pensamiento fue hacerlo todo a mano porque no todos tienen una lijadora de banda, pero la terminé en la máquina porque se me acabó el tiempo.

    You don't need anything as complicated as this to make a "self locking" sanding block. You just need to cut the edges of your block at a 15 degree angle. The narrow face goes at the top, the wider face goes down. Then wrap sandpapder round the block, and crease the paper on the 15 degree edges, take it off, fold along the creases and put it back on. The sandpaper will hold itself to the block!
