Bless up Teach. Great Great interview my brother, this man is a walking encyclopedia of our beloved music. The bredrin know the thing and talk the thing. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Teach I think it’s safe to say that this interview is probably the most riveting and captivating. I decided to watch a little before going to bed, I could not put down the phone until it was finished. Hoping you will be able to get a part 2.
It is good to know that there are Jamaicans that are telling the true history of Jamaican, this is how it should be. We should not leave it to foreigners to tell the story, they were not present in those time, another excellent interview TEACH 👏👏
Teach dem I saw this interview from a few days back I first declined to watch it because I did have my reservation for Mr Dennis Howard because I was one who did think that he was giving dancehall music a fight when he was making some changes at RJR but after listening to this interview I have to give this man his respect Teach Dem this man his a legend I just hope he has everything documented didn't even know that he was apart of the original IRIE FM management team .continue the great work TEACH DEM.
Great link this teach. This man knows the music inside out....I had the privilege of knowing him personally and had the opportunity to sit in the studio with him when he was on the radio at the JBC on a few occasions. Big up Sir Dennis Howard
TEACH DEM THIS INTERVIEW IS LIKE A HISTORY CLASS I REALLY ENJOY THIS PROGRAM THIS MAN MEMORY IS ON POINT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MAN YOUR PROGRAM IS VERY EASY
Brilliant interview bruv!! 👏🏾👏🏾 I would probably say this is your best and most informative so far. Dennis Howard has contributed greatly to our music and culture….. Thank you sir!! 👏🏾👏🏾💪🏿
Dennis covers the music business like a rash! Lol What a repository for Jamaican music history; a scholar indeed. This is a must watch for all those who are interested in the history of Jamaican music!
Exceptional interview. Teach dem interview Cordell Green next please. I love when they are so full of knowledge and substance that they are never lost for words. Clyde and Copeland. The three Cs
I finally managed to listen to this very important interview this morning, and it was much more than I expected, because many times we know people for one thing without knowing how multi-talented they are. It was great to hear all those names, especially the radio personalities, again. As a teenager, I used to write down the weekly JBC Top 20 or 30 music charts in an exercise book (which I regretfully lost along the way) from around 1979 to 1982. At the end of each year, I would calculate my top 100 and match against JBC's top 100 and the positions would be very close. Following the weekly charts with Barry G allowed me to be familiar with the record labels, producers, artistes and names of the songs and albums. So I understood Dennis Howard's passion when he was working in the JBC library and consuming all that information about the records. I always tell people that I was exposed to many kinds of music growing up in Jamaica. One type of music that was not mentioned in the interview was Classical music instrumentals, that I remember used to be played on Sundays on the radio. Many great things were spoken about in the interview, but a topic that I would've loved to have heard Dr. Howard's views on is a fire that I heard destroyed archive records at JBC around the 1990s. Was there really such a fire? If yes, what records were destroyed and the impact that had on Jamaica's culture, especially music and films, including television shows like Ring Ding.
A great friend of mine. This man exposed me to the intellectual side of Reggae Music - his academic approach to our music is phenomenal. I rather like a lecture he presented at the KCOBA Lecture Series he said a new name should be give to the so-called dance hall of today...not Reggae. Dennis continue doing what you do - taking the music to the intellectual highest.
Oh so true Mr Howard. My Aunty brought back LPs from England in 77. Labels like Capitol Records, Trojan and many others. I was the selector for the Reggae section, after my Aunt played, the Millie Small, Jim Revees,The Ska,the Calypso, Dean Martin, Sam Cook, Lord Laro etc on the Sterogramm. I am trying to remember where I met you Mr Howard, it was either at JBC or RJR the 70s.
I really enjoyed this interview. Very informative. A totally different type of interview that was filled with something about every aspect of the music business. We need more musical minds like Dennis Howard in the space today. It would be more enjoyable as the music evolves. I'm glad I tuned in. Thank you Teach Dem👏🏾👏🏾
Teach dem.. This outerview is the best one to date . Kudos to Mr Dennis Howard . Thisn was very informative and surely educating and also an eye opener.
Epic historical reasoning,as a little youth growing up in the 70s there was something special about Sundays , the quiet/calm free feeling hearing those country and western Jim Reeves religious songs. Things was just peaceful.
For decades the name DENNIS HOWARD sounded like household name but I must admit I knew so little of this musical erudite! I totally enjoyed the interview from the famous badman dem up and beyond our own music, and telling it like it is! I remember when I first heard Rdddigan on Barry G 2-to-6 super mix! I left my jod and rode the train to Mo-Bay just to hear more Gregory Issacs Private Beach Party, Dennis Brown Olld Man River, Tetrack, just to name a few! Mad mad memories! I don't think you mentioned Cicille Wilson, but any time that librarian was selecting, nothing else could get my attention! Reaspect to the max!💯💯💯🇯🇲
Experience teaches wisdom - hear the man recount life like a river's spring. This interview had a different flow from most of the others, nah mean - he led, because he really has tons to say. Rope in - how about a stream of RUclips-shorts with him dropping his gems? Give thanks, Teacha, really fulljoyed this one. Dennis Howard, tip my hat, Sir! More of!
