    I took this supplement when I had an acne breakout due to hormonal imbalance. It helped somewhat, but I was also taking fish oil and vitamin A. With this combo I got rid of most of it after a few weeks.

      My grandmother bought alfalfa when I was a kid and had me take it. When I broke out within 2 to 3 days, the breakouts would go away because it cleared my bloodstream.

    I took this first time yesterday and had severe, severe fatigue as well as severe headaches. I took two capsules yesterday and took over 24 hours for symptoms to go away. I may try again but will take just a half dose to start, I’ve never had such severe fatigue and headaches. I’m 46 with PCOS but not overweight. Hoping I can benefit from this but can’t continue to take with these symptoms.

      Do you take Nattokinase? It can help your lungs a lot. As long as you aren't on blood thinners or statins. You can take it

    Are you saying for women and estrogen dominant breast cancer, DIM produces MORE estrogen?
    Or is this beneficial for women to keep estrogen at a more BALANCED level?

      It balances it.
      The more balance the less chance of the bad estrogen
      However it isn't proven to stop cancer

      It effects receptors that T uses so lowers both T and Estrogen.

      DIM blocks the effects of testosterone. Higher doses (greater than 100mg) of isolated pure DIM can saturate tissues and block androgen (e.g. testosterone and dihydrotestosterone) receptors and inhibit the protein synthesis induced by the anabolic effects of androgens

    Dr. Sung, have you ever addressed full hysterectomies? What do women do for hormones when they've had both hysterectomy and oophorectomy?

      I'm on estradiol, progesterone and dim. No ovaries. Full hysterectomy. Hoping testosterone will be enough without pellets.

    DIM helped me so much with my hormonal acne. I still use it. I was wondering if it was good for a teenage male? He's an athlete. His acne is pretty bad and I'm wondering if this would be good for him. He's 16. Thanks Doc.! I always recommend DIM and your video is a nice easy video to understand and share.

      I have heard from a holistic practitioner that everyone should take DIM he might wanna give it a try start low with 100 mg and increase slowly up to 250 mg is what I have heard, also I use DIM for estrogen dominance it helps a lot, hope this helps

      @@anaidaanaida1380 Yeah you can take it with meals or on an empty stomach. The usual way of taking it is three months on and one or two months off before starting again however, I take it almost every day with different dosages in the follicular phase and different dosages in the luteal phase due to methylation issues :)

      @@ferry2495 hey why do your holisitc practitioner think veryone should take DIM? I´m also estragen dominant and progesterone sufficent. Have you tried Progesterone? I´m taking P. since a quarter and my bleedign wnt from constantly (as if i had my priod everyday ) recently to a spotting.But still th bleeding is thre and it works only very very slowly. Do you think Dim would help me?(I´m scared that it would incras Testostrone).
      Which symptoms exactly did DIM improve, if you don´t mind me asking?

      @@madlenj.4644 I had terrible headaches/ migraines before my period and at the end of my period, I was also not sleeping well right after ovulation until my period I was also experiencing breast tenderness before my period as well as mood issues so yeah for those reasons I had to start DIM which helped so much. We live in a toxic world everything has pesticides and chemicals that makes us estrogen dominant no matter how healthy we try to eat and our liver gets overburdened with toxic overload therefore taking something for liver health like DIM is important. I have tried progesterone cream and didnt really like it the way it made me feel so Im guessing I wasnt progesterone deficient, rarely I take vitex very small dose. I dont think DIM will increase your testosterone levels you can try 100 mg DIM for a week and see how you feel wishing you all the best :)) x

    I am on a Biote hormone therapy program, my question is …….. if i am on a testosterone and estrogen pellets and taking a progesterone pill daily, should i be taking a dim supplement? I am getting mixed answers. My dr said I didn’t need it due to my replacement therapy and based on my bloodwork. Other drs say, it is a must to also be taking dim. Please help me resolve this issue. It is very stressful not knowing the correct path for me. I’m healthy and have had success on the Biote program. Thank you, Janet

      If you are on a Biote treatment you will need to use their version of DIM and obtain a recommendation from your BIOTE physician. Do not self-treat when on pellets, injections, or tablet hormone therapy.

    Can Dim cause high B12?
    I had the results from a blood test today and the doctors were conserned about me having very high B12. They asked if I take any supplements, I said Biotin and Dim, and whilst the GP had never heard of Dim, and started googling it infront of me, she seems to think that must be what's causing it and wants me to cease taking it for 6 months.
    Neither my brand of Dim, nor any I looked at online have B12 in the ingredients, and I can't find anything about them containing B12 online.

      Do you consume a b complex vitamin? Or eat nutritional yeast? There are high levels of b12 in both products.

      @@rhondasilver3582 nope, the company that makes my Dim confirmed that it has no effect on B12, and I don't take anything else.
      Newer doctors have since told me that the high b12 is nothing to worry about and have since found out I have microscopic colitis which is what was making me ill, not the b12.

      There is only one study showing that DIM decreases testosterone and it was done in a sample of 100% women. Women create testosterone in an entirely different way then men, this stat is essentially meaningless to men.

    I’ve been taking 400mg per day in one pill and all my acne is gone! I didn’t know I had to divide it throughout the day.

      Are u female or male, only want to know because it effects estrogen, just want to know as a female I don’t want lose my feminine physique I suffer from fibroids and I believe it helps with that as well.I dnt have weight issues don’t want to lose weight if it make one lose weight I will have to opt out.       @@shaimaya1117 If you have fibroids then it's likely you have estrogen dominance (too much estrogen). I think this supplements gets rid of the excess estrogen and balances you out.

    What do you think of it's anti inflammatory effects? I feel like it helps with my back pain so much. I have disc degenerative disease and 7 ruptured discs. However more than 100mg makes me nauseous. Anyways wanted your opinions on its affects on inflammation

      If you’re a woman only start with 10-20 mg dhea and make sure the bran is reputable and most likely dim 100mg for a woman.

      @@Lucky4444girlI started taking 250mg of DIM 5months ago and what I noticed is that my breasts are not tender or swollen anymore. I had some small cysts in my breasts that also disappeared. My hormonal mood swings are also gone. I didn’t had any blood test done unfortunately but such clear results showed me that is working for me. Hope it helped

      That is correct, it increases testosterone in men, it does not reduce it. The doctor's statement is incorrect.

      @@jsanders9975 I started taking it in 2018 when I was on Biote pellets my doctor at the time prescribed 300 mg twice a day. My testosterone range was 850 to 1500 and my estradiol was always within normal range. Since 2022 I had to switch providers because the pellets were too expensive, now I'm on intramuscular injections and my results are similar although my estradiol range is a lot wider now. The best brand other than the Biote DIM is Force Factor. The stronger the product smells the more potent it is. Do if it does lower testosterone that has not been my experience. It has to be taken every day religiously though because it doesn't stay in the blood very long.

    I had an ovarian cyst of 4 cm, and decided to take DIM for a few days now but then I have my cycle this month so messed up, for the first time in my life, I have a little bleeding this month, is there any correlation?

      I think he had to, because it is marketed as halting estrogen in men which would help maintain your testosterone levels.

      @AnonAdhom from what I understand it does not increase estrogen, it helps reduce the bad estrogen. It does help to release free testosterone that is trapped. Everyone is different and I haven't seen anyway to determine if it is a net positive for testosterone utilization. On one hand you are freeing up more testosterone that you can use and on the other the receptor is being blocked. Some people do seem experience effects common with increased testosterone. Don't know if it's actually more testosterone or just a healthier balance of good estrogen. Possible that some people are freeing up more testosterone than is being blocked or that the block has a limited effect?

    I took 150mg for 20 days it and delayed my period for 2 weeeks. Maybe it took estrogen down too low im not sure. Ive cut back on the dosage now and not taking everyday so we shall see.

      @@pinkvision333 I would stop taking it then, usually you need estrogen for a period to start but dim is suppose to help remove estrogen. If you are bleeding too much, you need more progesterone.

    My estrogen levals are ok now after finishing one DIM bottle. Should I continue this for heavy bleeding , acne, breast pain, mood swings??

      For heavy periods it will prevent you from having huge clots and the bleeding will not be as bad. It will also reduce cramps.

      @@StephNichelle No, my wife did not experience this, she reported fewer clots, less intense cramps, and shorter periods. She takes 400 a day, half in the morning and half before bed, has been on it for months. I have been on it for 5 years, I take 300 in the morning and 300 in the evening, male doses have to be higher.

      @@whistler8177 I stopped taking DIM because I think if you have high estrogen and low testosterone it's good to take DIM but that it can cancel out the testosterone from other supplements like d-aspartic acid. I think if you're high test low estrogen and take DIM it will do the opposite of what you want, it will make things level and even.

      I’d take it to increase testosterone. I have estrogen dominance and I had test ing done and I had all the classic domino affects of too high estrogen - one of which was low testosterone. In some research I found if you have high estrogen that high estrogen can somehow convert your testosterone into more estrogen. So to treat my low thyroid, low progesterone, low testosterone I’m starting with bringing down my estrogen. Then I’ll add in HRT if needed to increase the others if changing my diet and taking estrogen metabolizers doesn’t help. Fingers crossed!

      Not that I know of. I've been taking 600 a day which I take half in the morning and half in the evening, I've been taking it for over 3 years and I've had no side effects and my labs are normal. The side effects occur at higher doses over what I am taking. The only side effect is gas I believe.

    I started DIM Nov. 30th. 200 mg. Once a day for 6 days. I started having a metallic and salty taste in my mouth. I now, almost 30 days later still taste those things and cannot taste good. It almost gags me to eat. I’m thinking my body dumped estrogen too quickly. Please help! I’m desperate to taste good again and not have this metallic and salty taste constantly!

      Too much estrogen is not good. It’s like dirty estrogen in the body. You need estrogen but it needs to be in a good ratio to progesterone. I’ve been taking it a few days and I swear my thighs and butt are getting more filled out. Maybe I’m tripping lol. But I do have other side effects. Like a fatigue, headache and body aches/joint pain. But I noticed that seems to be helping with my hot flashes.

      it does detox the bad estrogens in the body. it helps regulate your hormones in the process by removing the bad estrogens. you will get detox symptoms .. I only take 1 pill since 2 pills (which is my bottles recommendation) gives me too bad symptoms 1 is just right for me. @@blossomooo

My understanding is that one DIM pill is equivalent to consuming 25lbs of broccoli, according to Dr. Sara Gottfried, who specializes in hormones. If that's true, then I pill is enough broccoli for the day.

      It metabolizes the “bad” estrogen out so your body isn’t estrogen dominate in relation to progesterone. Creates a balance with your other hormones.

      @@JesusSaves7012 Who said it doesn’t? I actually asked my gynecologist this question and she told me that there is no research supporting this claim that excess estrogen causes cancer. She said it would be difficult to even do a study on it and she has a background in research. Plus the goal is to offset estrogen with progesterone. The two hormones work to balance each other. This is why many women opt for hormone replacement therapy when they’re in perimenopause or menopause.
