    ✅ About jlwii2000:
When I started my channel I did not choose a catchy name because I did not think that I would be a major model railroading video source one day, so I apologize for the strange name. My channel has a variety of info about Model Railroading in many scales, primarily HO scale. I try to respond to everyone's questions to help them along with their journey. Overall, I hope my relaxed yet descriptive approach to modeling will assist those new and old in this great hobby. - James

I got the Metra version when it came out. Can't wait for the passenger cars to arrive.

This looks very nice! Not sure what’s going on with that horn and Prime Mover sound though, sounds like some type of generator. MP36’s have EMD 645E3 prime movers as well as P2 horns as the primary horn.(although I believe they are mounted with an emergency K5LA)

The generator you're hearing would be the HEP unit for the passenger equipment.
A fun fact is that before the hep existed there were two options for powering passenger cars: a generator car between locomotive and train, or notch 8 while at the station

@@Manual_Elitist I’m guessing he didn’t play the Prime Mover sound then, makes sense why it sounded the way it did

That's cool. I must get the whole train set. It is better than the Athearn version which I have to add the sound decoder myself

Very nice locomotive. Too bad that ho scale has gotten very expensive.

Minus the extra marker lights on the shell, I’d say this is a must have for Metrolink modelers. Hopefully Altas will modify the tooling for more agency specific details in future runs.

Sounds like you only have HEP power on. On my METRA version the EMD prime mover clearly sounds different with the classic EMD turbo and it will rev up on moving. The HEP is a more truck like diesel constant sound.

As nice as these models are, based on feedback from other modelers, Atlas dropped the ball on these models. Just to name a few, the models were advertised to have golden white LEDs, and the box even said it, but the model came with cool white LEDs. The Metrolink units in particular was really poorly executed. Believe it or not, the TrueLine Trains models had the correct artwork and Atlas somehow went backwards for the Metrolink units. (Potentially outsourcing the artwork designers). A simple google search would prove that Metrolink units don’t have a horn on top, and the handrails should be yellow not orange ! Other inconsistencies are the missing “F” symbol on the conductor’s side front corner sill, and wrongly painted front buffer plate / anti climber. Coupler cut lever ends should be painted yellow as well. Rear steps have been crooked on most models based on reports and paint work is not as sharp as expected. Supposedly the Metra units have fairly bad paint separation lines / bleed over. And no marker lights should be on the Metrolink units. It appears to be the same situation with Atlas: Reusing the same tooling for different railroads without any real road specific details unfortunately…
The only real improvement from the TLT models seem to be the quality control of the detail parts. Otherwise weight, internals, and details remain the same from the original TLT tooling. Unfortunately this is the only model available of this locomotive. Took me about 2 weeks of modifications to correct Atlas’ artwork mistakes…
    Regardless, nice review James !
