I have built ponds and landscaped nothing more rewarding turning something old and in poor state into a work of art returning a year or two later to see plants established and recovered and the transformation alot of hard work to create something as stunning as this job

It’s so beautiful, and what a glorious setting. Sally’s a lucky girl 😉 I was thinking all along ‘I’d swim in that pond’ 🌊

She certainly is-the grounds/garden on this property are really something and a credit to the owners-who do most of the work themselves. I had quite a few swims during the build-was very refreshing!!

I've really enjoyed watching this project from start to finish, very inspiring! I imagine it was pretty daunting at the beginning - this pond is as big as my entire back garden 🤣 What a fabulous and rewarding way to earn a living. If you ever get rid of Dave, give me a call 😉 (only kidding Dave!)

An excellent job. It is nice to see someone build a natural pond, I have just completed mine. Obviously on a lot smaller scale, but watching the wildlife is amazing.

👏 good series. I hope your going to go back and film the fruits of your labour when they add fish, the wildlife start appearing, oh and get some evening footage like you said for the lights! Keep them coming

Ha ha! Thanks very much! I’ll definitely do a follow up vid next season once it’s reestablished and possibly a short one when I do introduce fish soon. There is a little footage of the pond illuminated at the end of this video already, although it was a manky evening and the go pro doesn’t work well in low light! I’ll take some more professional pics and prob end up posting a collage instead. Thanks very much for your interest!

    Good job.
Did you not consider using the gravel planting beds as additional or even instead of the external filters? Pipes with holes run at the bottom of the filter beds only allow it to exit at the top so all water perforates through the gravel - better for the plants too and clearer water - a kind of bog /wetland filter

AMAZING that Ed! Absolutely stunning! A cold beer on a warm day next to that would be perfect.
In my opinion though.....how good would that look with some Koi in?
Just treated myself to the 60,000 variant of the screen-matic for my 1000 gallon koi pond.
    Cheers :)

Hi mate thanks for the lovely comment! I
Wish I had a pond like that I could relax and unwind to-I’ve yet to build
My own!! Although I have plans.....!
I agree re the koi, would look 😊 however I’m actually pleased for a change that this is more for the wildlife and it will be lovely to see how it establishes naturally over the years ahead-as lovely as a fish/koi pond is the dynamics are very different in a wildlife pond and there is noticeably more wildlife such as dragon flys and water beetles, raft spiders, amphibians etc etc attracted to a pond that doesn’t house koi or heavy fish loads. I’ll have to Persuade them to have another pond if they wanted koi!!
      Cheers,
      Ed

    • @abkoi

Crystal Clear Aquatics Yes it will definitely be an amazing wildlife pond, couldn’t agree more.
Just noticed Dave falling back in at the end 😂
Yes went with the 60,000 and the 55w U.V in the end. Got the Oase eco premium 16000, fantastic bit of kit. Got the Oase aquaskim 20, fantastic bit of kit. But went with all pond solutions self cleaning pressure filter, terrible bit of kit. 3 months old and the auto function has packed up. TERRIBLE customer service from them also and struggling with the return of the item (3 months old). So here I am, completing the set with the screenmatic (should of just done it from the off - hands up, my fault).
I have a question though if you don’t mind? More of a concern... obviously we are heading into the winter season shortly and the pressure filter has matured somewhat. This will be removed over the weekend - really, because it’s not working but I’m worried about the knock on effect of installing the new “fresh” oase filter and heading into colder months with a filter with no beneficial bacteria build up.
Should I be worried? Any tips / advise you could give?
Pond is 1000 gallon with 4 x 30cm koi in.
      Appreciate you help.

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  4 года назад +1

Sorry to hear that- thankfully I’ve always found Oase aftercare and customer service fantastic and well worth investing in their kit for this peace of mind. Re you’re query: in all honesty I wouldn’t be overly concerned with the idea of setting up a new filter and removing your already established one considering you only have the four fish. (There will be plenty of beneficial bacteria already colonised within the water and coating most surfaces in your established pond which will immediately start to colonise your new filter) If you have the luxury of time I would suggest removing some of the foams from your pond solutions unit and placing these inside your screenmatic2 filter system to help seed the new foams with beneficial nitrifying bacteria. Failing that the addition of an evolution aqua pond bomb and a period of two weeks of no food (for the fish, not you!) would be helpful. The pond bomb will help saturate the filter media with good bacteria and the reduction of food will reduce waste output and hence demand on the filtration. If in doubt perform a small partial water change- 20% or so but I doubt that will be necessary.
Hope this helps and all the best,
      Ed
