1:42 That was a good practical effect for it's time.
Shame about the hideous music and why they didn't color the block segments.
@@ShamrockParticle They brought the blocks back in Matt Smith's era, they are actually white.
@@ShamrockParticle oh yes because the original was SOOO much better. 🙄
@Goat4459... Yes. It was.
It was very much better without poorly mixed, loud, and ill fitting music layered over it like a Sonic Adventure cutscene... Also, the changes to the regen were artistically damaging imo. The ambiguity of his regen in the original with it just fading out with him screaming for them to stop left a really impactful ambiguity to the whole affair. Esp considering the timelords were basically executing him, and having stock photos of nuwho doctors in place of the choices the timelords gave him was just... dumb...
Compressing and colorizing the story were good ideas... Implying the Warchief is an earlier incarnation of the master is a pretty good idea as well... Everything else... not so much. Esp in implementation.
-Oh, well that's all right, then!
That's what the Toymaker said, Jamie.
Jamie is the toy maker confirmed
The war games is hardcore. it is fun to see the colour clips
The little boxes will make you angry.
I just realized: the Doctor's trousers are torn at the knee! Never saw that before.
The same tear can be seen on the Third doctor when he emerges out of the Tardis at the beginning of Spearhead from Space
Actually watching the full story on Britbox. But great to see this in color.
Man, those crazy practical effects. 😸
Get Frazer Hines and his 2 writing partners to novelise the War Games as he did Evil.
The music is absolutely ghastly throughout this whole story.
oh yes because the original was SOOO much better. 🙄
@Goat4459 It's far more in keeping. And not so loud you need subtitles to hear the dialogue.
The new music in the colorized episodes is awful. Hartnells daleks story had a great original score, and it was completed replaced with something inferior.
@Goat4459 The modern score only fits the modern show, it is just too clashing with a show from the 60s. It is like putting Deep Space Nine score on the original Star Trek run, it just doesnt fit because it wasnt originally made for it.
God its so different in colour.
I can’t watch the War Chief without being reminded of Mr Meaker from Rentaghost.😉
I thought it was him lol thank you
Colourisation looks great. Too bad about the music though. Doesn't fit classic who at all.
I was laughing too much over how brash it was and how it was just laid over alarms and dialogue with no mixing.
Music is good. Too loud, however
Yes, the music ruins it.
Be interested to see if they can shoehorn the Meddling Monk into the Master's timeline too.
The music ruins this scene. It doesn't fit at all.
Shame the music is so loud and out of place.
I’ve got a grainy copy from BSB showing. Like it would have been seen as broadcast
It would originally have been broadcast from a 625 line video tape. Not like the BSB version at all.
Did #2 actually start the Time War himself?🧐😕🤔
Whatever happened to the War Chief
He was executed by the War Lords.
@@tompearce5418 they retcon the story so the warchief is actually the master and he later regenerated and Roger Delgado took over
@@patrickarseneault7407 the war chief was never the master just another rogue time lord. I doubt it.
@@drwho-hj1pu it is not canon yet but this was in an interview
Following the release of "The War Games" colorization, Doctor Who producer Phil Collinson tells Doctor Who Magazine (via RadioTimes) how the use of The Master's musical motif from the revived series implies that the War Chief (Edward Brayshaw) is an earlier incarnation of the Master. For Collinson personally, he reveals that he has always held the belief that the War Chief was The Master, and had intentionally leaned into the theory with the choice of music for "The War Games":
not canon offiicially but looking at it now the way they know one another it could fit it need be
Was the War Chief the Master in disguise?
In fan canon yes. In bbc doctor who canon, no.
Depends if this new colouration supercedes the original because this one suggests he is.
I think you have to make your own mind up about that but he's certainly a renegade Time Lord.
He’s now pretty much The Master. You can hear the series 3 Master theme whenever he’s on screen, and you hear him regenerate when they drag his body
no he isnt, its just RTD pretending he owns all of Dr Who
why did they add tis abomin able music. IT is not in the original.
Patrick thourton the actor who played the 2nd doctor, it was his idea to play this role for 3 years.. And then the others that followed... Especially the 5th doctor. And thrn later on many of the other doctors 😅😮😢😊❤
Troughton
Seeing this and then the garbage they served up as the Christmas special was quite something.
Absolutely agree think it’s going to get worse hopefully I’m wrong
The Christmas special and new seasons are fine cry more
@@Spock4771I agree, there are so many whiny crybabies in the comments section. Surprised they didn't.complain about "Woke".
Crying. God it’s tears every 5 mins
@@stephenjones2998not far wrong
Seeing parts of the War Games in Colour great to see however the Story Cuts don't work and the Future Doctors in choice is Laughable
We've Got it all boxed off lol 🙂
Where on earth did this music come from? It’s awful!
Not the Master. Just sayin. What's with the overpowering BGM?
The War Chief is NOT the Master
Did the BBC add that terrible music or is this a fan edit?
Sorry i don't buy the war chief as the master i just don't.
🤢
It's good to see it in color.
Oh quit crying
@Goat4459 No. I mean it. Haven't you ever been curious to have seen what it would have looked like in color?
